    Thank you! I enjoyed your tutorial, very well done. You can also purchase grout that comes in colors thus eliminating the need to tint it. Charcoal is a nice dark gray and you can buy it at Home Depot, IF you want a fairly large amount. I"m looking forward to making my yard prettier with your rocks!

    thank you for dding if u need more grout u can use a bigger cup just keep the same ratio and same size scooper, tho yes it makes sense but some1 like me who is starting out nd trying to buy the tools materials needed, its over whelming at times and u may start thinking bout how to measure and not think of that process just cus ur mind is trying to keep everything at once focused, i have adhd and yea im intelligent but sometimes common sense things like that dont even come up when im trying to stay focused on something new, where as if it was in my everyday life those measurments xhanges wud instantly pop up in something like cooking etc......... yea so ty when ever any1 adds what seems like common sense rules of themb its actually a great reminder that just like nything else it also applies to etc etc whatever the vid is about, for some1 like me anyway who has multiple solutions and projects going on in my mind at once, adhd really does make u forget ur common sense every now and then, later on ur like omg what is wrong w me ll i have to do is, i already new that why ddnt i think of that..........

    Your inspiring videos...i'm trying to make a mosaic stepping stone from a pawprint mold. Since I'd have to place the mosaics at the bottom of the mold under the concrete, sight unseen & scared the gems & glass wouldn't stay in place, could we follow your garden rock video & 'glue' the gems w/grout & seal, onto an already-set but plain concrete (pawprint) stepping stone?

    Excellent instruction except for one quibble. Grout is abrasive and sealant can be difficult to clean off, so it's better to remove our rings before we start--even with gloves.

  • @paulagreco1472
    @paulagreco1472 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Question, I an new to this but I was under the impression that grout needs thinset mortar to adhere and that it would flake off the rock material. What is your experience?

    • @TheONeilSisters
      @TheONeilSisters  ปีที่แล้ว

      We used White Sanded Grout and tinted it with acrylic craft paint. We have had no issues with our rocks. They are still in the garden looking awesome! Here's the how-to on our blog: runningwithsisters.com/how-to-make-mosaic-garden-rocks/

    So much for the 7:1 ratio, lol. Better that we listen to your instructions on what the actual consistency should be 😊👍

    • @TheONeilSisters

      Yes we have found the ratio varies. So it's best to mix until you get the right consistency.

      I see the sealer is for indoor use. Do you recommend anything different for outdoor rocks?

  • @Code9aa
    @Code9aa 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Is Sealer okay to use for outside projects? I always see people use thinset mortor for outside mosaics then grouting afterwards. Also why add the black paint since it didn't show up on the final finish? Just curious.

    • @TheONeilSisters
      @TheONeilSisters  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes the sealer is for outside projects. We used the black paint to tint the grout. That's why it looks gray and not white. Hope that helps.

      Amy
      they wanted the grout to be a darker color since their grout was so light, they wanted it to look like part of the rock

    • @TheONeilSisters

    what kind of grout sealer do u use is it necessary do u just get it at a hardware store

    • @TheONeilSisters
      @TheONeilSisters  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Rachelle Nicole Gallion We use Mosaic Mercantile Grout Sealer, but you can use any grout sealer. Craft stores and hardware stores should carry it. We use it for outdoor projects. Hope that helps! Thanks

    • @keneasley1905
      @keneasley1905 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I checked the Mosaic Mercantile manufacturer's website and it specifically says it is not intended for outdoor use. I bought some to put on mosaic rocks to go outside, but now I'm afraid to use it. I want these rocks to last in the garden for a long time. I want a sealer made for outdoor use.

    Hi :) I just subscribed to your channel. Could you please give the Brand names of products that you use? I live in Canada, and if I can not find them, a friend who lives in the USA will purchase them for me. Thanks so much :)

    • @TheONeilSisters

      Sure! The glue we used was clear silicone adhesive. You can get that at the hardware store and any brand is fine. The grout was white sanded grout from Mosaic Mercantile. We also used grout sealer from Mosaic Mercantile. Any white sanded grout would work. And we tinted the grout with Plaid Folk Art Acrylic Craft Paint (black). Any brand of acrylic craft paint would work fine. Hope that helps!
