  • This is my submission to the Colbert Report's Edit Challenge. I wanted to make an interview that looks very realistic and authentic, which means I did not take as many liberties as some others have with the creation of sentences made from individual words.
This submission is clean and certainly believable as a real television interview. I have seen some other versions that are very creative out there already, to which I salute you all. I originally edited and submitted this version the day after the original segment aired on the Colbert Report, but didn't want to post it to TH-cam until others had had a fair chance to make their own version without benefit of basing it off others. So I think enough time has passed that it is safe to post mine.
The Assignment here was to re-edit an interview turning Stephen's answers 180 degrees from his original responses and I think this edit does that very well. It is clean, and professional and has the look of a real interview, which was what I wanted to make. There certainly are funnier and more creative entries out there, to which I tip my hat to.

I had lots of practice cleaning up both Clinton's & GW's interviews when I worked in network news... this interview was a lot more fun. ;^)

Thanks for your input, and I appreciate your opinion. In my own defense, all I was going for was a clean edit. I wasn't attempting to make anything unique or a creative piece of comedic television.
There are lots more creative and humorous versions of this assignment out there... and I tip my hat to them all.
When Qwen asks Steven to give his opinion on "President Clinton" -you can't tell me that was predictable and "expected." -well maybe you can, but I would disagree.
    cheers!

sorry you did not like it. did you read the description where i specifically mentioned "I wanted to make an interview that looks very realistic and authentic" -sorry if you missed that part.
next time you leave someone a comment, could you be more constructive in your critism? maybe why it is "the worst one yet..." leaving a random "this sucks" comment is a bit rude comming from someone who has not submitted a single video at this posting.
    cheers!

Comedy Central changed the link to the original video source. The segment that contains the RAW video that this "Edit" was created from can be found here : on.cc.com/1IR95ip
Originally there was a link to download a video-file, that's been disabled, but you can view the segment and see the original raw interview. My edit clearly is a cut-down, and I chose not to include every single reply that Colbert said... but still I think it's pretty decent, and all the edits are clean. *coughcoughavailableforfreelanceworkcoughcough*

just saying outrageous things and the opposite of what one might expect to hear, isn't always funny.
    not colbert's best piece.
