    I Drive a DS 9 rivoli + with all the opcional equipment. The model Matt is testing it's a low equiped one. It doesn't have night vision, massage in all the 4 seats, auto pilot, all the seats heated and ventilated, auto parking... More equiped than an E class or 5 series for less. For me, It is also more confortable, but less sporty, having owned other E segment cars. Nevertheless, with no optionals, It has much better features than it's rivals: Matrix LED, front heated, ventilated and massage seats, aceptable driving aids such as adaptative cruise control, the camera operated suspension, key-less entry...
    Matt should say all the available equipment the car has. A little bit disappointed with his review.

      I've waited for this car to come around for about 5 years. I'm not that old but I get a annoyed how everything has got to be sporty. If I want sporty, I'll go buy a gtr... Or supra.. or something that way... With the roads in Britain I cherish my bones and would rather not feel my vertebrae clack together over a pothole at 70.. or any pothole
      I just wish they offered diesel variant.. that's my only offput. :(

    The reason why the petrol door is locked and takes a while to open is because it’s pressurized. This is done to keep the petrol fresh in case you go a long time without replacing the gas.

    • @eamonnmcdermott1939
      @eamonnmcdermott1939 2 ปีที่แล้ว +42

      As far as I see this car has a fuel filler cap as well as the fuel filler door. The fuel filler door being pressurised makes no sense. All petrol cars have had pressurised fuel filler caps for more than twenty years. Not a very good design from an established carmaker, (I’m not surprised from a French carmaker who still produce unreliable cars). Petrol doesn’t need to be kept “fresh”. Your argument makes absolutely no sense. Yet another reason not to buy a French car, they can’t even get this basic requirement correct!

I've owned a Traction V8 Familiale, a DS23 Pallas, a DS23 Presidential, a CX2400 Familliale, a CX2400 Sedan, and an amazing DS23 Grande Velo (6 wheeled estate). My last Citroen was a C6 V6 Saloon.     Shortlisting this and a ES.
    A car doesn't have to be sporty to be a plasure to drive, and the DS9 proves this like nothing apart from a Rolls Royce.
    It glides on the road, the leather is sumptuous and *everywhere*, I mean, *everywhere*. The Focal 18 speaker system is bang on for Sound Quality, the paint finishes are lightyears better than any BMW (and only cost €900 for the most expensive) and a fully loaded DS9 with 7 years of unlimited warranty and maintenance cost just €75.000 - that's base E-class money.
    Any DS just feels different, they take you to Paris without even leaving the garage. Even the window switches are gorgeous and not shared with any other car. Why? Because it looks good. That, the germans cannot do.
    DS, like Genesis, really is the new Lexus. The entire company questions the way we do luxury cars, it's a breath of fresh air, and honestly, I want to be a part of their story. Like Citroen was weird in an interesting and appealing way decades ago, so is DS now.
    The laggy satnav, the bad-ish graphics and dimwitted transmition are all forgivable in the name of every drive being an event, just as with a 4.2 Quattroporte or an XM or CX.
    Seriously, visit a DS store and truly drink in any of their offerings. Then, go to an Audi dealership and buy one instead...
    ... I don't think I could.

    actually almost all phone chargers still go from usb type A (the 'normal' usb) to type-C
    so usb type A is actually the better option for now

      Thats true my X3 has 1 type A and several type C's where I had to hunt around for an adapter cable (or pay absolutely through the nose for the BMW one !)

      @T_Perkins 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd agree but type c is more future proof.
      Way I'd look at it is if you can spend 40k on a car you can afford a USB c cable end to end for tenner...
      And it'd be a nice one for that money!

    • @an-dr6eu
      @an-dr6eu 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@T_Perkins You can afford that even if you spend 10k for one. Thats not the issue. Its the inconvenience of using a connector which needs a cable barely used by anyone. Instead of asking everyone to just bring their standard charging cables with them if they want to use the car ports, youd have to go and buy 2 pairs of them and store them in the car just for this purpose

    Definitely not an S Class rival. Given this starts at £40k and so does an E Class... I know which I'd rather have! I've driven a basic E Class and it was very good.
    This seems a bit basic 5 series.

    It will be a nightmare to own soon as the warranty runs out.
    The depreciation will be horrific, it will go wrong constantly especially with electrical issues, and be worth nothing in 10 years.
    Then in 20 years they will be such a rarity the price will rocket again for the few remaining survivors !

      @DOLLY PRANE Yes you're correct, the British motor industry is extinct really.
      Only Lotus and a few small marques left.
      My comment was based on experience (I work in the motor trade, and actually worked previously for a dealership which sold Citroen & Peugeot brands. The amount of recalls and quality issues were pretty bad.
      I also worked for Hyundai who were levels above in quality.
      I now work selling old Triumph & MG car parts for 60's/70's cars, and I'm thankful they were so shockingly bad as it keeps me in a job :-))

    Hi Mat, Could you add on to your review a driver sun-blind. What I realised not many manufactures instal a good sun-blinds, sometimes scratching your forehead eg. KIA Ceed (a doubly pleasure when I rent it out abroad) or when you turn to the side is not covering at all - majority of the time is too short. So far Subaru sort the problem out. We really likes your reviews :)

    Citroens depreciate very fast, at 3 years old you will struggle to get enough for one
    to cover the deposit on your next car, unless it is another Citroen, which from my experience
    of them is very unlikely.
    The iffy build quality like the poor alignment of the bonnet strip and badge are just typical.
    All you can do is buy another badge and fit it correctly yourself, the jammed fuel cap is again
    a typical quirk that is not funny when all you want to do is get home.
    So which car would i choose, a Mercedes, but an E class estate not the S Class.
