Indeed it is kind of a shame they didn't make this a deluxe figure as you say; they could have added an extra head with the water spraying feature similar to what they did with Snout Spout.
Nice review! Glad to see the Motu Origins back on the channel. My son got a ton of new Motu Origins for Christmas and his biggest disappointment was Whiplash. He also has the vintage figure and he thought his new one was broken. The tail was too stiff and he didn’t have his waist spring effect. His favorites were Clawful and Mantennae. Action features intact.
It concerns me that Mattel are getting rid of the action features for most of their action figures now, especially with Rattlor, we just get an extending piece for his neck that we have to attach, it would not be difficult at all to keep his original action feature
My main MOTU interests have always been in those classic first two waves, but beyond those vintage Kobra Khan was probably one of my favourites. I can remember saving my pocket money one summer to buy him and take him on holiday so I could play with him by the sea (and sand getting gunged in his water pump feature... it had a rough movement for ages after that!) This Origins version looks really nice, it captures look and feel of the original... BUT... the fact it doesn't have any recreation of the water shooting feature just kind kills it for me, sadly. They found a way to update Snout Spout to still shoot water, and whilst I wouldn't want to see KK with a backpack, I do feel they coulda worked something out with the head/torso to include it, even if it meant a less articulated neck. I can get what they were going for with the "venom shooting" add on, but beyond my personal disregard of such add ons (I don't display my Origins with them), I think green was the wrong colour to go with, as it's lost against the figure. Camo Khan's blue works much better, or maybe a bright red or orange. Good looking figure but I just kinda feel they cheaped out. If they couldn't/wouldn't go with the water feature, they could at least have packed in the hooded head or something as an extra... but I still think that water feature was doable. Probably a fool to myself as he LOOKS good, but - considering I kinda cherry pick my figures nowadays - the disappointment will probably mean he's not one I desperately hunt down unless I see him at bargain basement price.
@@Emolga6274 well a lot of us would of used the spray feature, i wouldnt even be using the projectile, that same stuff comes with new transformer figures and dont get used.
I think it's a good thing that they didn't include the original action feature. I wouldn't even mind if they included no action feature at all. But I'm fine with the way they did it. I like how this figure turned out.
Nice review! I personally like how this figure came out, mattel is definitely trying to bring some more of these rare figures to the public eye again. I'm looking forward to the upcoming releases in 2023! Give me He-skeletor already 😂
Wouldnt it have been possible to just include an additional head that stores enough water for a single squirt each time? If thats possible, its a solution to all concerns. no?
If they weren't going to keep the feature, they should've at least improved the head sculpt. The mouth always looked dumb, but you looked past it because it facilitated a fun feature.
Kobra Khan NEEDS to spray water. I'm not a fan of the articulation of the figures. They're a pain to stand up, whereas the originals just stood with no effort. 100% I would have traded the articulation for the spray function. I managed to pick up a perfect original Kobra Khan a few months ago for next to nothing. The mist function still works and everything. Also grabbed Leech. I'll be passing on this Origins release. Seems a bit lazy to me.
I personally asked Kobra Khan if he's classified as one of the Snake Men, and his answer was: "Isn't it obvioussssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss sssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss?"
The cofounder of my channel Jeff owns a copy of the original Cobra Khan figure with the spray gimmick too, and this is a improvement over that one, and yet I enjoyed this video Pixel Dan👏🏻, and happy new year to you and your family also🎉🎊💯.
Yeah I found this figure disappointing. Doesn't have his old action feature, but kept his goofy toy head. If you wanted the hooded head you had to order the exclusive Camo Kahn. I wish he would have came with the hooded head if they wanted him to be a basic figure, or kept the toy head and made the figure Deluxe so he could keep his water spraying action feature. As it stands they tried to please everybody, and I feel Mattel just kind of let down with this figure. It's funny Dan says he's not going to display his with the acid spray mouth effect but in my opinion I actually think plugging that into the toy head kind of helps it out some, and that's how I have mine displayed.
I ended up getting his Mattel Creations alter ego as a birthday gift from a dear friend, so as much as I love this figure I don’t know how I feel about getting basically a downgraded version with a different paint scheme? However, I am VERY interested in picking up the vintage. The design in general is just so charming. Are there any concerns I should have y’all?
You can definitely tell that Mattel is rushing out these figures I got a Mackinac for Christmas and he couldn’t extend his neck he just had a attachment. Still cool figure but a little disappointing the road ripper didn’t even have a pullback feature. That would’ve been so easy to do.
I do like this figure but a lil bummed out about the lack of water spray .can't wait to see your Rattlor review I am curious to see the comparison with the original and how the lower waist measures up as he seems kinda shrimpy
Why did you get the International Version? Aren't you in America? And why did they remove his Mist Feature? I thought they were adding to the toys & improving them?
I will never understand why the "international" versions remove the word bubbles. These are adult collectables and the majority of adult collectors speak English. Even if they don't what is lost?
It sucks that they made him look like the original one but with no gimmick. It would be nice if they made him look better with a new head and torso if they were planning on removing his gimmick.
Thunder punch He man without those caps?? OMG??? People buy the originals....Fisto without the punch? You CAN NOT replace those times with these. Best figure in the origins line is Scareglow. He actually works very very well. Go get the 80s. I am so proud to have tasted that precious time. Blessings x
agreed about scareglow being the best of the origins line it glows much better than even the classics version. without the gimmicks the toys arent the same and seem cheapened.
This was a disappointment to me. The vintage with the action feature is better. Rattlor and Mekaneck were bad too. I haven't received King Hiss yet but he at least looks like an improvement from the vintage.
What kind of BS is this? First off, if packaging is supposedly an "original design/reprint" then why add new designs? Second (and most obvious) the replacement of the original spray action feature with a some plastic piece you shove in its mouth. Thats the best you guys could do? So was the original water feature considered to be too dangerous now, or was it just budget cuts?
I have no nostalgia to this figure, I actually do not see anything I like in the Snakemen, I find it was a bit early to bring them. But I would get this figure for its action featur... oh wait! Yeah, that is a pass, as well as all other Snakemen for me. But that is OK, I'm now investing in the Masterverse's New Eternia and Princess of Power, so Origins is now at a second place, will pick just a few figures.
You can justify Kahns most but what about mechaneck, rattlor, tounge lashor and who knows how many more will lack the features that made them so special in your past interview with the Mattel guys they stated "all your favorite characters will have the action features you remember. What happened?
They also said that the standard Origins articulation will not be compromised. If the action feature is going to get in the way of the figures movement, then they have to alter them. Khan, Mekaneck, Tung Lashor, Rattlor, King Hiss now have snap-on parts to mimic their original features.
I have been watching your channel for a long time and every Masters of the universe figure that you review was always one of your favorites. Let's just be honest and, all of Masters the universe are your favorites. Every single figure is your favorite.
Thanks for the review! It really does feel like Mattel has accepted that these are, primarily, bought by grown-ups for their collections. Otherwise, skipping the action feature would be really hard to justify as it gave the figure (and many others) their "play value". I mean, realistically, kids would probably not constantly switch the spray effect during play... Here is hoping that at least Extendar will have his action feature!
Unacceptable, how they are removing the action features to low costs. They started pretty well, with: Terror Claws, Roboto, Flying Fists, Roboto, etc.
This was my only master of the universe toy as a kid so this figure is pretty special to me
Skipping the spray feature, it seems like they should’ve then redesigned him to fit the standard more.
Indeed it is kind of a shame they didn't make this a deluxe figure as you say; they could have added an extra head with the water spraying feature similar to what they did with Snout Spout.
Love the venom effect, both Khan and Camo Khan are really well done figures
I'm glad the line keeps going.

I kinda thought the whole deal with these were that they keep the action feature..... Why did they make him so half assed?
It concerns me that Mattel are getting rid of the action features for most of their action figures now, especially with Rattlor, we just get an extending piece for his neck that we have to attach, it would not be difficult at all to keep his original action feature
I miss the spray feature.

I rather get that cool blue projectile than some spray feature that I will never use

I wish he came with the hooded head.
Some head and accessory packs, as they did with MOTU Classics, wouldn't go amiss and they could then do the extra head in there.
Hello Pixel Dan !!👋😊 I've been following your videos for 5 yrs now and always enjoy them. Excellent review. Keep up the great work 😉👍

Ace review, always my go to guys for MOTU reviews 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Great review Dan. If only the figure was a deluxe figure that came with the hooded head.
Really wish he came with the alt head the MC Camo Khan came with, I much prefer that head lol.
Kobra Khan NEEDS to spray water.

I don't like the blast effect. It should look more like a cloud of mist, not a jet of liquid. Kobra Khan spits out sleeping gas, not acid.

Was it Mackinac Bridge or Mackinac Island?
They should have either kept the spray feature or given us another head.
I do like this figure but a lil bummed out about the lack of water spray .can't wait to see your Rattlor review I am curious to see the comparison with the original and how the lower waist measures up as he seems kinda shrimpy
same lack of the spraying water. sucks
Just buy a water gun if u Wana spray stuff . Or just use ur garden hose
@@Emolga6274 now i think you are just trolling.
Why did you get the International Version? Aren't you in America? And why did they remove his Mist Feature? I thought they were adding to the toys & improving them?
So that bolt man character is a new original figure? they should have called him Boltarr
Another great review

Hola...desde Chile...conservo mi kobra vintage de niñez y creo Mattel debió fabricarlo con el sistema lanza agua tambien....saludos
Is there a new Cobra Khan figure that sprays water like the original one?
Cool toys collection
I love toys
Kermit the frog has been hitting the gym!
RED blaster? You sure? I think most would call that an orange blaster.
I just scored in New Zealand.

What is the justification for removing the gimmick?
IIRC they wanted to prioritize the swapping gimmick the origin line as a whole has
Wrong arms are used the origins figure based off the vintage.
KHAAAAAAAN!!!!
I want a Kobra Khan.

Masterverse figures lack the magic. Figures trying to look “real” have always lost the magic touch of toy design.
🤘😎
Taking away gimmicks is just taking away the soul of these figures
yep
Mosquitor still has his gimmick

They should have kept the misting feature... good thing they used a green blast instead of white LOL
Terrible Mattel. Back in the eighties these were action figures. Take away the water spray you have removed the art.
I want it to spray water. Period.
KHAN OF THE CLAN KOBRA!!!
They would definitely make that joke if motu and G.I. Joe had a crossover.
Never was a fan of that head design
