I am mentally exhausted and overwhelmed as I graduated some time ago. I am trying to study for this test after failing so many times with hope that your videos are very helpful resources with a lot of hints and tips 😃👍 Thank you. Have a good day 😃👍
thanks man, you're really carrying me on your back for my ucat journey. btw, you're looking fresher and fresher with each consecutive videos. keep it up :)
I’m just starting out my UCAT preparation this January holidays! I like how all of your advice was straight to the point and has made my start to studying the UCAT less overwhelming. Thank you so much Emil!!
Hi Emil, your videos are always really helpful! I have kept up my UCAT practice pretty consistently over the year, I am still having trouble with test anxiety. For the first 2 subtests I can generally score well, but I get caught up with timing in QR. I have gone back to the modules, done plenty of practice questions and spent lots of time trying to develop my 'internal clock' but I still struggle sometimes. I know the general rule is 2 minutes per question set, but when I exceed this limit I tend to immediately go on a downward spiral - I panic about not completing the question on time, which makes me go slower! However if I don't set myself that time limit, I space out and spend way too much time on the question. Even the standalone questions send me into a panic because I'm never sure how much time to allocate to them. I do think it's a problem with anxiety because I have scored highly in QR in past mocks, but recently in the lead-up to my exam, I have witnessed my scores dropping :( Do you have any advice for how to progress from here, and stop obsessing over timing while still maintaining speed?
The stuff you do before the test matters a lot, e.g getting enough sleep, taking care of your body. It's also really important to make use of those 1 minute breaks you get between the subtests. It's an amazing opportunity to reset your brain and put everything else behind you
This video was so helpful thank you! Do you think it's a bad thing to be overwhelmed with techniques? There are so many videos on Medentry that I haven't seen but I already have a technique down for most sections
i got 2370 last year, it is really sad because for every uni that is too low, but look up and bang out bmat prep if you can, also if i can ask, how was the difficulty of the ucat to medentry resources?
Hey Emil, I was watching your live VR subtest and was just wondering whether you think it is better to skim read and focus on keywords or read the passage as you go through questions? I saw you doing the latter but I see most advice to do the former because of timing reasons.
it's about finding a balance between the two, I think it's not particularly useful to skim without understanding anything because you waste time in every question if you can't find the answer in 28 seconds. read so you can understand a little bit
@ammarahissufo6482 mines in exactly a week from now. I'm literally gonna need a miracle at this rate. My mocks are so awful, I've done two and they're both around a 2070 + 640 SJT. I guess it's a good thing my uni only weights the ucat score at 15% for med school admission. Yeah I'm pretty cooked
@@Nev_25 You're so lucky they dont give that much of a damn, the uni i want to go is SO ucat heavy Good luck, I'm sure you'll make it I'll pray for you ahaha
Depends on what stage you're in. Sometimes timed practice can be detrimental if you have bad habits. If you think your technique is decent, mini-mocks and full mocks are great
I’ll be making a video about this but acknowledging that you might have an addiction is really hard and a great first step that you should be proud of! It’s a very deep topic but I’d recommend you start with thinking about what draws you to game and removing those influences
hey Emil, I'm just starting out with UCAT practise in Year 10 and I was wondering how I would begin studying UCAT, for example how long should I be spending on UCAT a week / each session at this stage, and should I just use whatever free resources I have such as the official ucat website question bank? thanks for the video!
@@Karmelxoxo is that true? maybe i'll tone down my practise and do less everyday. but i'm mainly curious because i did the vr and dm section of the official Mock A timed and i got like 32/44 and 22/29, and im not sure how good that is for a beginner
The amount of time is completely dependent on where you're at. 2 months is definitely enough and 2 hours a WEEK is enough if you use your time effectively! That being said, focus on quality over quantity and aim for at least 4 hours per week
Same, I’m averaging at around 450 for each subtest and I have 12 days until my exam 🥲 I’m so close to giving up because I just don’t see any chance for improvement

Hi Emil, when did you start preparing for the UCAT? Is it ideal to start preparing on the November prior to year 12?
I properly started in January of the year I sat it, so roughly 6-8 months
need one to one tutoring, possible?
