As I wake up this morning setting here its my 64th Birthday, no one to share it with any more. I wondered where my life had gone so fast. Many hours of work, family and friends and church. Loved my work of helping others in nursing. Loved my home life. Loved family and friends, and gave countless hours to help with church meetings and projects. My current husband just left me this past February. And I wonder what is left for me? And as I set here pondering all this your song came up on my phone as notification of a new song from you JJ! God has His ways of letting me know He is here with me even though I'm alone on my Birthday. God is so good! I appreciate Him so much! He has helped me so much over the years of time. He has gave and gave if not more than I. How can we not love this God we serve. He is everything to me. Thank you for such a lovely song, it puts things in a lovely perspective and reminds me of memories from the past that I treasure most dear in my heart. I've been following you a long time and this is by far the best song although there has been many that I've enjoyed. But this one has a special meaning to me. Back in 2005, when I was six, I watched this movie called Peter Pan: Escape to Neverland, and I thought it was the coolest thing that Peter Pan never got to grow up, and I wished I could always stay a kid forever. I felt sad that Wendy had grown up, gotten married and had kids. But when I watched it again for a second time in December of 2021 (a couple weeks ago) my perspective on it changed and I realized from watching the movie again that growing up is a truly beautiful thing because you experience new things and learn new things, too. So hopefully, by my 30th birthday, I’ll be married with kids, in a big house with a teaching job, because I want to be a middle school English teacher more than anything. And there’s a part of me that wishes newborns could stay their beautiful selves forever, but I know they have to grow up. And that’s okay.
I am now 41 years old. A mom to 3 boys, (ages 25, 18 and 16). A grandma to 2 beautiful granddaughters, (ages 5 and 3). This song speaks deeply to me today. Age is just a number and the words of this song are of great encouragement to aging woman. This is an incredibly powerful song that speaks to the beauty that age brings and the beauty is not just outward beauty, but also an inward beauty that comes from life lived and relationships that have been cultivated and nurtured throughout a woman's life.
