I hope Mr. Doldinger gets to see this. Inspiring greatness in others is one of the best things in life. (Except for good dentistry and soft lavatory paper)
@@juliancroot You should send him a message with the link. He is 87. He should know what good he has done for us. Extend my deepest gratitude for one of the most moving movie scores which was a part of my childhood.
This must have been a blast to work on! One of the greatest pieces of film music of all time imho. Ive always wanted to do a fun Italo-Disco inspired remix of the original, but never got around to it.
Lol... Getting carried away I suppose. One of the most rewarding things about doing these covers is when people tell me it's inspired or motivated them... So thank you!
@@juliancroot like I discovered this last night, and I can't stop listening to it on a loop. So definitely both motivating and inspiring. It's mindblowing what an artist can do when s/he hits the nail in the head. 😍🤩🥳
No sheets. All completely by ear. As a young music student I was always very slow at sight reading music for the piano, so I often passed exams by listening to my teacher playing a piece and imitating it. I can read music, I'm just much quicker figuring things out by ear.
From ear and yet still more faithful to the original movie score than the official soundtrack cover. Perhaps it is your attention to the filters and envelope shaping a movie soundtrack requires to sound good in most theatres.
Thank you. 👍 Since this is an orchestral piece there's no envelope shaping or filtering... It's just layering orchestral sounds and playing (I think) the right notes on the right instruments.
@Julian Croot your work has inspired me, particularly with orchestral scores. I was always a fan of 80's, synth, movie scores, etc and I recently purchased an orchestral VST after watching your videos and having great fun with it (after i got it working eventually). Finally completed my Vangelis Chariots of Fire, just to do a video for it but feel like I'm getting there lol.
EiInfach oberspitzenklasse! Das ist im Prinzip vom Original nicht zu unterscheiden. Ich würde das gern an meinem Genos (1) umsetzen, hab da aber keine Ahnung wenn es in die Details geht... LG Yvonne
It's a shame you don't comment on your soundtracks to help those who are starting out in production and are at the beginning of their careers to get a little further. What you show there is again the hammer how you do it. Unfortunately in fast forward😉
I occasionally do livestreams where people ask me questions directly. I've also put a few videos up showing some aspects of my approach... but I'm careful not to state it's THE way to do it The biggest thing is listening experience...i.e. making stuff that sounds bad and learning from it.
Fantastic!! Well done!
Thanks a lot!
Another amazing cover Julian! Capturing all the childhood memories here!

Very very cool 🙂
Beautiful. You made me cry. Thank you! 💚
Sorry about that 😁. Thank you.
Absolutely stunning!
It's so difficult to appreciate just how acrobatic in keys this piece is. Absolutely AMAZING. I'd love you to do the whole score. Just brilliant!
Thank you very much. I'm hoping to do more stuff like this in 2024, it just takes a long time to figure out 😁.
This is amazing!!
Thank you. 🙏
Awesome theme!
great movie and a brilliant cover.

Yes it was 😁. Fun, but definitely one of the more challenging ones to figure out.
@@juliancroot You inspired me to work on a remix of the original recording this weekend! I just posted it this evening! Thanks for that!
Brilliant cover and arrangement.
Thanks 😁
I absolutely LOVE all your covers of The Never ending Story, my friend! Would also be amazing to hear a MacGyver theme from you
Thanks Thomas 🤛. MacGyver has been on my to-do-list for ages....I guess I'll get round to it at some point. :)
Perfect man🥰
@@milosmiochadraba5518 I still hear things I'd like to improve, but it's out there now and I'm glad you appreciate it 😁. Thanks for watching 🙏
This was truly amazing! This piece of music is so complex and you nailed it!
Thank you. It was one of the more challenging projects I've taken on, so it's nice to know you appreciate it.

This is a brilliant cover. To be honest though I never noticed any mistakes in the first one, but your biggest critic is normally yourself.
Definitely my own worst critic... at least when it comes to this stuff. :)
