I love your breakdown of the opinion that TWD is repetitive, it is a very surface level way to look at things. When you dumb it down that way any show can be “repetitive”. It’s not that simple.

I feel like people who qct like comic governor was better because he was more intimidating just need everything spoon fed to them. Comic governor was so cartoonishly evil where as show version was nuanced and layered and scary because you never knew what he was gonna do. He could be charming one second but stick a knife in your neck the next. Over all he was just alot more realistic in the show. Think about it his way, in the comic why would anybody follow him? He's not subtle. He just throws all his cards on the table. He might as well have "I'm a villain" written on his forehead. In the show he provides a sense of comfort and safety which conflicts people who side with him. He also lies to them so they never know what is and Isn't true because they can't exactly just go on their phone and fact check anything lol. 10x better let's be honest.

Hot take: I actually like the pike victims that were chosen for the show. I actually think the show pike lineup had lots more emotion to it, the only pike victim in the comics I was sad about was Ezekiel. I didn't care about Rosita enough in the comics to be sad about her death and I didn't give a shit about the background characters dying. The TV show's pike victims that I was sad about was Henry and Enid, I also felt sad for some of the background characters like Ozzy, DJ, Addy and Tammy Rose

I liked Andrea in the show, mainly due to Laurie Holden - but hated how different she was from the comic book Andrea. Not too surprised by the change because comic book Andrea was much cooler than Michonne and they needed Michonne to work for the show.

Thank you for reacting to my opinion about filler episodes! I wholeheartedly agree that seasons 4-6 had the biggest highs. Too Far Gone, No Sanctuary, and No Way Out are the three best episodes of the show, in my opinion. I just feel like the early seasons, in particular, season 1, had a clear and concise story that was not bogged down by filler and set episode counts. In other words, some of the later seasons were good despite filler because they found ways to extend story arcs and insert character-driven moments. Early seasons were good simply because they had good pacing, so the plot and character moments felt more natural.

I also enjoyed both versions of the Governor. I don't think even think comparing the two Governors is fair to either version. On one hand we have a psychopatic cannibal with pdf file tendencies (avoiding using the actual word here) who also r worded multiple women including Michonne. On the other we have a manipulating oppurtunist creating a facade of a perfect town but doing nasty stuff in the shadows. They are litreally only the same in name.

In fact, this latest trend of "giving away" to the main characters by child is infuriating. Now Daryl has a child, Negan. So they also give them to us and say worry about them. Although they themselves are shown conditionally once a season. Carl was one of the main characters, the main child, so to speak, they often showed him to us, they really worried about him, and they believed Rick as he was dear to him. The last children are very indifferent. Yes, it's banal why "create" a common child of Rick and Michonne, if Judith already exists and it's better that she stays in the family alone as a child

I believe season 6 is one of the best seasons of the show, but I think if it were written differently it could have saves season 7 and further. The first 9 episodes are good, Episodes 10-12 I would add the “We Find Ourselves” arc from the comics. Maybe visit Washington, Carl waking up and forgetting his mom died. Then have the rest of the season play out and have the finale be 6x13 (Maggie and Carol’s episode). Then start season 7 with 6x14-6x16 having 7x01 be 7x04. We would not have as long of a cliff hanger, and there would be 12 more episodes to fill the rest of season 7 in instead of 15. Maybe the season would be paced better.

Completely agree with the Carl death. For me, with the way TV Rick was written as opposed to Comic Rick, there had to be something HUGE to change his plans to kill Negan. Having Carl die was the only way there could have been a realistic character change (at least that quickly) for Rick. Negan’s rapid rise in fan popularity was unexpected for the writers I think. I think this made them think “oh shoot, we can’t kill Negan”.

  • @abbasfarhat3972

Personally, I’m not as big of a fan of the Governor as a villain. The battle in “Too Far Gone” was great but other than that, meh. And don’t get me started on how boring those two stand alone episodes were in season 4. 😂 So for me, Andrea gets the right amount of hate. She annoyed me how she was constantly siding against Rick. And how dumb the writers made her character look by falling for the Governor’s charm.

I can say that the "Shiva Death " episode had me raging big time - I am a big fan of "character sacrifice" in storytelling but I was unable to suspend my disbelief that a pack of waterlogged rotting walkers could take down a fully grown tiger, just not gonna happen - there's a reason tigers and lions get hunted with spears and firearms and hunters don't go after them with fisticuffs.

Great video but i dissagree with you extremely on 1 thing: PLOT ARMOUR.
I HATE plot armour with every fiber of my being and i'm not the only one saying this as i know someone who works in the industry who agrees with me.
Plot armour is nothing more than a CHEAP, CONVENIENT, EASY and honestly RIDICULOUS way to create this invisible invunerability for main characters
of the show (any show), giving the creators a QUICK, FLAT and honestly COWARDLY way to keep all those characters alive because out of a huge misplaced
sense of Fear that the fandom will burn them at the stake when you kill a beloved character in a zombie FREAKIN apocalypse story.
It is the creators being in a casino but playing safe at all the tables they play at.
And as a result it creates SAFE and BORING storytelling in art and tv.
When you create shows like Game Of Thrones or The Walking Dead, you know going into it (creators and fans) that in the confines of the story NO ONE
in terms of characters should be safe for the entire runtime. That's just unrealistic.

Like I said, it kind of just depends. I think it makes sense that certain characters need to stay alive for the story, so what's important is making sure you write the scenes in a way to where it makes sense when they get out alive. My issue is when something borderline impossible happens to save the person's life, but I don't really mind if it's something very unlikely but still possible (as long as they don't over-do it with that character)

"I think it makes sense that certain characters need to stay alive for the story".
Again, i dissagree soo much with that because that's not for me, you or the fandom in general to say.
It is up to the creator of the comic books because Robert Kirkman already set the story in STONE.
I already layed out the road map for the whole series and as people who are gonna adapt it, you
are gonna hve to treat it like a BIBLE because it's what the fandom EXPECTS and WANTS.
Imagine for example that in episode 408: Too Far Gone the Governor WOULDN'T have beheaded anyone.
We would all get up with protest signs and cry out in anger and frustration.

I hate Breaking Bad, it’s about a guy getting cancer, doing bad thing, getting involved in bad thing, fixing the bad guy, doing bad thing again, getting involved in a bad thing again, fixing bad thing, getting cancer again, getting back with bad thing, fixing bad thing, then fixed bad thing.
That’s basically the guys take for TWD. But, somehow Breaking Bad is the greatest show ever

I love your general point.. plenty of shows people dont like so why do haters even bother speaking..
TWD and spinoffs are entertaining to a core fan base, who cares if people complain about later seasons. They can just not watch it.
The stuff being released on tv now just stinks in my opinion. I'll take TWD anyday because I'm a core fan

My god the person who said that comment about the show being repetitive and only being the same formula over and over with the group finding a place and it getting destroyed is in the totally wrong place. They are throwing that opinion into a hot takes compilation when that's the most original and proven wrong take that's ever existed about this show. People who say that haven't even seen the show past season 5 and it shows. Either that or they just straight up don't pay attention to anything going on in the show or they'd realize the characters haven't left Alexandria in almost a decade. I respect you being so nice about them having such a stupid take but I'd be alot less friendly about it tbh lol . It's just a brain dead take.
