A granny, stuck in my home since this past Sunday, snow and ice, several inches. I'm in a rural, beautiful, sparsely populated area in WV. The only snow and ice removal we have out here is 'Solar' removal. Meaning, if the sun comes out and it's warm enough, your snow will melt❄️. Nighttime temps in single digits, tonight, another 2-4 inches snow falling. News says a week from today it'll reach 40 degrees. That'll make me stuck here for almost 2weeks. But, plenty of food, water, wood for my stove, and I have a whole house generator and a couple of good neighbors with side by sides that'll run in any weather. They check on me. Good neighbors, my cat, Sox, and Jesus is all I need, and not in that order🥰❤️🥰. Everyone be careful out there🙏

We're in Gainesville Texas and we ended up with 7" of snow. As a Canadian who's lived in the south for the past 30+ years, I appreciated it (but I also didn't have to drive in it). Praying for all the people who have lost power and are in store for ice - that's no fun.
Yes, I go to the grocery store alone. I live in an area were we all have an acre or more. The neighbors around me are all widowx and their children take them shopping. My children moved away years ago. My husband is in the VA nursing home with end stage Parkinsons. I spend a few hours with him a few days a week. I have routine every week on the same day. After spending time with my husband I go fill up with gas, go to the bank if I need to and then go to Publix. I'm handicap so I park up front and get in a scooter and do my shopping. They know me very well at this Publix. They know my name and always go to the car with me and put my groceries in my car. The store is in a very good area where I am at and I feel relatively safe. I live rural but not far from this area where I shop and do other business. I do carry my pew friend in my car. I do keep aware of what is around. I moved to this area of north Florida 30 years ago because of the rural setting and safety of the area. After living in a crack neighborhood with gangs the first 35 years of my life, I had enough of dogging bullets and the crazy. I knew that I didn't have to raise my children in that mess. My mother kept telling me life was like that everywhere. I proved to her that life didn't have to be like that. I raised my children in a decent place where they didn't have to see or go through what I did growing up. I did take self defense classes as a young woman and my father taught me to shoot all of the prices he had. I used to take my children to practice all of the time when they got to the age they understood what it was. After I moved up here I met my current husband. A good man who raised my children as his own. If you can go shopping with someone that is great. If you can't, do the best you can.
I'm in SW Missouri, and it iced and sleeted the first storm now about 7 or 8 inches of snow today out on my farm!! My 8 dogs loved it!❤I did too, it's been many years since we had that much snow!! But I'm disabled and don't drive, but I said prayers for everyone who had to get out in it!!
I call them buggies! That is from living in the South for quite a few yrs. Plus being married to a Mississippi man. Called them buggies from then on. I am a gAl from Indiana.

I am 62 and sleep with my granddaughters swishmellows every night.Smaller than the one you showed.I tuck them in to all the spots.Love them!It’s been snowing for about 8 hours in Indiana…it’s been a long week.I am over it!It does remind me of how it was when I was a kid.We have been spoiled.

Missouri folks here, we got 2 inches of ice and 2 inches of snow on top. Yesterday, the 10th we got about 4 more inches of snow. We are an hour southwest of St. Louis. Keep it easy folks!
Stores were crazy yesterday! Thought I would stop into Kroger for a few things-NOPE! Went to the Ace & picked up a Buddy Heater instead, finally-yahoo! Made a big pot of chili to have on standby plus to share with a friend so we can help each other dig out from the snow storm-YUM!!! Life is good with a little prepping!!
Very southern Missouri here, 11 miles from the Arkansas line. We ended up with 7 1/2" of snow. Heavy wet snow. We're fine, I've canned and preserved all my married life, 52 years now. Told hubby we could hibernate for a couple of years and be fine, thank goodness. Hubby gets bored staying in the house. He plans on getting out tomorrow to "blade our gravel road" out to the highway. Even tho said highway is snow covered [secondary highway]. County doesn't worry about clearing it quickly. But at least it gives him something to do. You two remind me of us when we go shopping together!! It's wonderful having a life partner that you love & who loves you! We're like the old show "Green Acres". Our fine china is used a lot!!! 🤣🤣Everyone stay safe and warm!!
We went to Costco on Wednesday. We got 6” of snow in Sw Missouri last night. We’re on a new property so I have no idea how long it will take for the back roads to clear. We’re building a puzzle. Stay safe and warm. Next time you get an ice cream ask for a lid.

We've got about 6 inches of snow on the ground here in WNC and it's still coming down. No ice here, which helps with the road situation, but I also haven't seen a single car go down my road today. We put salt on our driveway but it didn't make a difference-- it's still covered with snow. So there's no getting out until it melts or until the neighbors come by with their tractors. We're all hunkered down and enjoying the beauty of the snow for now.
Same here in Eastern Oregon. So much rain. Very unusual. One reason I left the west side. It always rains there. We usually have snow that lasts until March. 😮
We live in Georgia and we got 2 amd 1/2 inches of snow and are now getting freezing raon tonight. We have plenty of extra canned goods stocked. I did a Wal-Mart delivery order on Wednesday so I didn't have to go in the store. 😂 I saw on FB yesterday that our nearest Kroger had run out of eggs! It's usually the milk and bread that are wiped out. We cooked a pork roast in the crockpot today and I made a big pan of baked ziti in case our power goes out. We can warm them up on the blackstone. We lost power for an hour this evening, but thank the Lord, it's back on! Stay safe and warm!
Patara, I remember the BLIZZARD of 1978 ( January) and the BLIZZARD of 1982 ( April ) . Both of them took all the Power OUT FOR DAYS. I remember VERY CLEARLY because each one I had given birth to Sons # 2 and # 3. After that I said ABSOLUTELY NO MORE CHILDREN. That is how much I dislike Winter and that is putting it LIGHTLY. Patara, if you dont know this but I imagine you do.. as an alaskan and having a wood stove...save the ashes they work wonderful to make the ice not slick. I USE to use it all winter long on the hill on my driveway. Works on sidewalks also but then you might have a mess drug into your house but they teuly are wonderful i always save my ashes until i needed them in a metal garbage can. Of course we sometimes use our woodstove even in the summer in Alaska so always had plenty of ashes
I always found East Tennessee very safe. And the locals helped me and my daughter many times when my old Volvo station wagon broke down there several times.
I'm from Ohio originally. Been here in Tn. for 25 years. Love it here. But people just kill me. You mention snow and you can't find a loaf of bread or milk anywhere. When we first moved down here, we would just laugh! People can't drive in the snow! They scare me! We have no snow removel where we live either. Just have top stay put until you think you can get out or have to for an emergency. Which I've had to with my husband in past years. At least at 3 in the morning, there isn't anyone on the roads. You guys had me really chuckling this morning. Love to watch you. Keep up the good work and keep James in line.

I live in Arkansas. 4 inches is alot for us. We got 14 to 18 inches of snow. Really surprised our electric stayed on. Usually our electric goes out for a little breeze. PTL it stayed on.i have been out several times busting water for my chickens, ducks, and dogs off and on all day.. Everyone doing good. I hope the storm is nicer for you than it was for us. Gosh, that’s a lot of snow! We just have some ice here. Like you, I had to get out and provide water for my chickens and meat rabbits. All my animals are doing fine with our low temps. Funny how I’d rather stay inside my cozy house - but I guess caring for my animals is probably healthier for me as it forces me outdoors. But I’m NOT equipped to walk thru THAT much snow!🤣 Good luck to you!
In my small town close to Louisville, KY, we were told to expect snow and ice beginning this past Sunday afternoon. The snow started very early in the morning, changed to rain, froze, and then snowed again. We received 11 inches of snow and 1/2 " of ice. I got everything I needed, which wasn't much, last Thursday. As a result, the only place I have been is my front porch. The sun came out yesterday and my neighbor helped me clean 1/2 " of ice off my windshield, hood, and some on the top of the car. It is Friday and it has been snowing all day. We are suppose to receive another 6" of snow. Glad I don't have to go out to get anything. I feel for those people who were not prepared. Eight inches of snow on my porch here on the TX-OK border Thursday. Things have started to melt Friday BUT going down to the teens tonight. It is refreezing until Saturday around noon. N-TX is shut down until the thaw. It may be challenging but winter is gone as quick as it came. We are hearing another blast and maybe some snow next Thursday. Always ready.
I'm in North East Texas. Supposed to have got snow... but no an ice storm. Large limb across driveway. I'm stuck on the farm until it warms up enough for me to take care of that. Taking care of the critters is more important than removing that limb right now. Going to be 18 tonight... nice! NOT !!!
On the subject of blankets in cold weather. My wife and I buy those small fleece blankets on black Friday in all the big box stores for$1.30 each. My wife sews two together on one end, we put two together and loop stitch two blankets together. They make great disaster blankets to store for bad weather when power goes out.
I was just at Costco on Thursday. I purchased one of their fire extinguishers as an extra since we have a woodstove. I also purchased a heated vest and heated gloves! The battery blocks are rechargeable. I absolutely love them. The vest allows me to stay warm with a lighter weight coat. That makes a big difference when you are trying to work outside on the homestead with all that gear on. The gloves and vest were $99.99 each so they weren't cheap but getting sick is expensive too.

I have a family member long distance truck driver she put up a picture a little bit ago Krogers Jackson, Ohio has a sign up limit of 3 packs of toilet paper and or paper towels.. (Due to high demand and to support all customers: We are limiting the number of Bath Tissue and Paper Towel Product to 3 per Customer. Thank you for shopping with us). They had first predicted 1"-2" of snow for us- we got up with 8" on the ground this morning!! We did "warm" up to 34 so a lot of it melted off the trees. We live in a wooded rural area so we'll be seeing snow for several days! My sweet husband shoveled a path from the house to the chicken coop for me!
My part of Ohio has 8.5 inches and now we are expecting another 2 to 4 by Saturday. Thank God for snowblowers. Had to help my daughter/boyfriend snowblow their driveway.

We are in Denton Texas and we got 4 to 5 inches over 2 days. Melting now

We live in Georgia and we got 2 amd 1/2 inches of snow and are now getting freezing raon tonight. We have plenty of extra canned goods stocked. I did a Wal-Mart delivery order on Wednesday so I didn't have to go in the store. 😂 I saw on FB yesterday that our nearest Kroger had run out of eggs! It's usually the milk and bread that are wiped out. We cooked a pork roast in the crockpot today and I made a big pan of baked ziti in case our power goes out. We can warm them up on the blackstone. We lost power for an hour this evening, but thank the Lord, it's back on! Stay safe and warm!
The nearest Super Walmart here ,was completely out of eggs yesterday,and I bet the price will be a lot higher when they are restocked.
Patara, I remember the BLIZZARD of 1978 ( January) and the BLIZZARD of 1982 ( April ) . Both of them took all the Power OUT FOR DAYS. I remember VERY CLEARLY because each one I had given birth to Sons # 2 and # 3. After that I said ABSOLUTELY NO MORE CHILDREN. That is how much I dislike Winter and that is putting it LIGHTLY. Patara, if you dont know this but I imagine you do.. as an alaskan and having a wood stove...save the ashes they work wonderful to make the ice not slick. I USE to use it all winter long on the hill on my driveway. Works on sidewalks also but then you might have a mess drug into your house but they teuly are wonderful i always save my ashes until i needed them in a metal garbage can. Of course we sometimes use our woodstove even in the summer in Alaska so always had plenty of ashes

I always found East Tennessee very safe. And the locals helped me and my daughter many times when my old Volvo station wagon broke down there several times.

I'm from Ohio originally. Been here in Tn. for 25 years. Love it here. But people just kill me. You mention snow and you can't find a loaf of bread or milk anywhere. When we first moved down here, we would just laugh! People can't drive in the snow! They scare me! We have no snow removel where we live either. Just have top stay put until you think you can get out or have to for an emergency. Which I've had to with my husband in past years. At least at 3 in the morning, there isn't anyone on the roads. You guys had me really chuckling this morning. Love to watch you. Keep up the good work and keep James in line.

You’re spot on about weather. It’s very similar here in NE Oklahoma. Haven’t had snow for years except for light dusting. We got 6 inches last night. Travel is basically @ stand still. Supper totally from my prepper stores. 😅❤

I live in Arkansas. 4 inches is alot for us. We got 14 to 18 inches of snow. Really surprised our electric stayed on. Usually our electric goes out for a little breeze. PTL it stayed on.i have been out several times busting water for my chickens, ducks, and dogs off and on all day.. Everyone doing good.

Gosh, that’s a lot of snow! We just have some ice here. Like you, I had to get out and provide water for my chickens and meat rabbits. All my animals are doing fine with our low temps. Funny how I’d rather stay inside my cozy house - but I guess caring for my animals is probably healthier for me as it forces me outdoors. But I’m NOT equipped to walk thru THAT much snow!🤣 Good luck to you!

In my small town close to Louisville, KY, we were told to expect snow and ice beginning this past Sunday afternoon. The snow started very early in the morning, changed to rain, froze, and then snowed again. We received 11 inches of snow and 1/2 " of ice. I got everything I needed, which wasn't much, last Thursday. As a result, the only place I have been is my front porch. The sun came out yesterday and my neighbor helped me clean 1/2 " of ice off my windshield, hood, and some on the top of the car. It is Friday and it has been snowing all day. We are suppose to receive another 6" of snow. Glad I don't have to go out to get anything. I feel for those people who were not prepared. Eight inches of snow on my porch here on the TX-OK border Thursday. Things have started to melt Friday BUT going down to the teens tonight. It is refreezing until Saturday around noon. N-TX is shut down until the thaw. It may be challenging but winter is gone as quick as it came. We are hearing another blast and maybe some snow next Thursday. Always ready.
I'm in North East Texas. Supposed to have got snow... but no an ice storm. Large limb across driveway. I'm stuck on the farm until it warms up enough for me to take care of that. Taking care of the critters is more important than removing that limb right now. Going to be 18 tonight... nice! NOT !!!

On the subject of blankets in cold weather. My wife and I buy those small fleece blankets on black Friday in all the big box stores for$1.30 each. My wife sews two together on one end, we put two together and loop stitch two blankets together. They make great disaster blankets to store for bad weather when power goes out.
James goes shopping, I always love it.
I was just at Costco on Thursday. I purchased one of their fire extinguishers as an extra since we have a woodstove. I also purchased a heated vest and heated gloves! The battery blocks are rechargeable. I absolutely love them. The vest allows me to stay warm with a lighter weight coat. That makes a big difference when you are trying to work outside on the homestead with all that gear on. The gloves and vest were $99.99 each so they weren't cheap but getting sick is expensive too.

I have a family member long distance truck driver she put up a picture a little bit ago Krogers Jackson, Ohio has a sign up limit of 3 packs of toilet paper and or paper towels.. (Due to high demand and to support all customers: We are limiting the number of Bath Tissue and Paper Towel Product to 3 per Customer. Thank you for shopping with us). They had first predicted 1"-2" of snow for us- we got up with 8" on the ground this morning!! We did "warm" up to 34 so a lot of it melted off the trees. We live in a wooded rural area so we'll be seeing snow for several days! My sweet husband shoveled a path from the house to the chicken coop for me!

My part of Ohio has 8.5 inches and now we are expecting another 2 to 4 by Saturday. Thank God for snowblowers. Had to help my daughter/boyfriend snowblow their driveway.
