The so-called “surgeon's photograph” is reportedly the first photo of the creature's head and neck. Supposedly taken by Robert Kenneth Wilson, a London gynaecologist, it was published in the Daily Mail on 21st April 1934. Wilson's refusal to have his name associated with its led to its being known as the surgeon's photograph.
Although for a number of years the iconic photo was considered evidence of the monster, sceptics dismissed it as driftwood, an elephant, an otter, or a bird. The photo's scale was controversial as it is often shown cropped, making the creature seem large and the ripples like waves, while the uncropped shot shows the other end of the loch and the monster in the centre. The ripples in the photo were found to fit the size and pattern of small ripples, unlike large waves photographed up close. Since 1994, most agree that the photo was an elaborate hoax.
The legend of the Loch Ness monster dates back 1500 years. Since then thousands of eye witnesses, countless photographs, sonar records and films have testified to the existence of a Loch Ness monster. A profile has gradually emerged of ‘Nessie’ having three humps, a long neck, rough-textured skin and being over 10 feet in length. Every year tourists from all over the world flock to see it. Yet despite decades of tireless exploration, observation and scientific analysis, still no real evidence has been discovered.

It's funny how people when they see something extraordinary, the first thought they have is "that's not real" either is photoshop, either is some fake object and stuff like that. But when they are said by someone, it doesn't matter who, that "It's fake", they instantly believe it without question. Sometimes they believe it even without some made up story.
@@ivanshark51 oh man….you just explained it far better than I could have. after watching this I went back to find out if anything from this video was true and i couldn’t find anything that backed this up. Matter of fact scientists are still trying to explain what kind of animal it could’ve been. If this video was the real story than why are people still trying to figure out what it could possibly be. If anything in this video has any sort of truth to it, it should be a clear closed case. Just like the most famous Bigfoot footage has people trying to come out and say they were a part of a hoax and thru third party info they try to say the man who shot the video admitted it was a hoax. except the actual people who were there have absolutely denied that this was a hoax and proved that these were people trying to discredit them. It really gets under my skin how obtuse people are with the paranormal or cryptids sightings. Sure there are some hoaxes out there definitely but not everyone is lying. I’ve had my own experiences with strang lights in the sky that made no noise and could disappear and reappear right before my eyes. Idc what anyone says . The world is a big place and these things are real. I used to be a skeptic too but I said to myself something is not adding up.

And also to add up to the Bigfoot, when I was little I watched a TH-cam video which was just uploaded, the video was how a man in the forest is recording something which didn't move for a bit, and when it started to move it was exactly how Bigfoot is supposed to look, my intuition told me that was real because the unique reaction of the man also added up, he didn't say anything he just started to breath faster and deeper and started running, then stopped the camera. So the point of me explaining that was, that when I searched for it again the next day because I wanted to show it to a friend, I just could not find it, neither in my playlist where I saved it, not also when I searched for it like for 2-3 hours, I couldn't find s(**)t, it just disappeared into thin air. Then I thought to myself. Why? I came to the conclusion that it was definitely real, because who posts something like that and then delete it, so he probably wasn't the one that deleted it.

I knew that was a fake first time I saw it. If you look at the entire photo in perspective, it is literally the size of a toy boat. But the photo that gets passed around is a close up so you have no context.
The animal wasn't meant to have feet cos the creature was a plesiosaur and they had flippers as they were marine reptiles

I say the surgeons photo looks like a person swimming overarm in the lake and was taken just as the persons head was below the water. It looks a little like an arm with the persons body submerged on the left .

One thing that has never been addressed by the hoax talkers is the very visible flipper on the side..When I see them reenacting the hoax,they never use a plastic model that has these..Also,Dr Wilson passed in Austrailia in 1969..Who is to say he wasnt telling the truth?..And why would he risk a great career for this?

I have concerns though about the hoax since there was a second image showing the creature in a different pose ready to dive under water so something is going on here. Also the pose seemed to be leaning and no parts of the submarine were exposed so maybe its something alive or its a different model.

Even as a kid, decades before the photo was shown to be what it is, I thought this fake. I can remember, being the ten year-old me, desperately wanting it to be true but knowing it was obvious the wake around the neck clearly showed a small object photographed near to, and not a large object photographed at distance.
