Enough so that going east on 80, once it leaves the Ohio Turnpike and heads towards Youngstown, the signs for the highway going eastbound shows New York City as the control city.

WOw! Thank you for this video! Even though it took a lot to do this trip I’m sure, I’m very thankful that it was taped!!
I have a little boy and we crossed from Illinois to Fontana California, through Colorado in the most scariest road trip ever!!! I was crying while driving. My car is not the newest and it was so scary crossing the Rockies. Cliff after cliff after cliff and mean drivers with trucks on my bumper trying to push me... I had to slow down and let all pass put on my emergency lights and it seemed never ending. Now I have to go back and this angelic video has given me a path u can’t even imagine for my son and I to cross another way and safely. Without this video I would be with knots in my stomach until the day, and with so much heat in Fontana, Ca.

Both are relatively similar with the exception of I-70 stays in the Appalachians of Ohio until just east of Columbus where as I-80 comes out of them in NW PA. Also I-70 just seems to be a more scenic route in general, especially through Ohio. After that they’re both pretty boring until you get to the Rockies.

Driving from nyc to Oakland in camper in June 2023. I see i80 is the most common route. Allow me to ask a dumb question, but how can I avoid dangerous roads. Is there another route anyone aware of far south than i80 that’s less intimidating?

I know I’m so late commenting on this video. I hope you see this though. I just drove on I-80 from NJ all the way to Chicago. But I would love if you could separate this video in to real time parts. Maybe one for each state?

Thanks. Let me know when you post them. It’s not that hard to make all you gotta do is slow it down to normal speed and just make a video for each state that it goes through. (New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio etc.)

This highway is the most irritating and annoying drive in the entire nation. Many parts are 75 mph. Semi trucks traveling 65 mph have no problem cutting you off while you are traveling at 80 mph. They will camp in the fast lane for 10 plus miles traveling at 10 mph under the speed limit. In 16 hours on this highway, this occurred 42 times! Truck drivers used to be considerate and respectful……not any more! Don’t expect to use your cruise control for more than ten minutes.
