Best time to visit Spiti Valley in 2024? [Month by Month Guide] | Best Season Spiti | Dheeraj Sharma

  • Many people want to know about what is the best time to visit Spiti Valley in 2024 or what is the best season to visit Spiti Valley or what is the best month to visit Spiti Valley in 2024?
    June to October is considered the tourist season to visit Spiti Valley. The time window every year is limited because the high mountain passes including, Rohtang Pass and Kunzum Pass, are cleared of snow and thrown open for traffic at that time only, between June to October.
    The weather is also pleasant, and Spiti, being in the rain shadow region, is not affected much by monsoon rains. The temperature throughout the day is bearable and light woolens are sufficient for traveling to Spiti from the middle of June to September.
    But a lot also depends on what you want to see in Spiti - if snow is what you are looking for, December to March or April may be the best time to witness a fully white Spiti. Be prepared though, to brave the bone-chilling cold, pack heavy woolens, thermals, socks, gloves, caps, (and a room heater if you can!!), and whatnot!! It will be very tough and not that easy.
    If you want a mix of Snow-filled conditions and still bearable cold, then May - June months are the best time to visit Spiti Valley. However, Manali - Kaza Road will not be open during this time.
    If you want to enjoy the adventure of both Manali to Kaza road and Shimla to Kaza road via Kinnaur Valley to complete the Spiti circuit, then it is always best to travel in June and July before monsoon pours in Northern India. You may also choose September - early October to enjoy a pleasant road trip to Spiti Valley.
    If you are looking for those fresh juicy Spiti Apples (which are mostly exported and hardly we get to eat), then again September - October will be the best season to visit Spiti Valley.
    If the fall or autumn colors are what you want to witness, then October is the best time to visit Spiti for such beautiful colors. Personally, I like autumn colors, so this is my best preference. Being at the end of the season, the number of tourists is less, few hotels are still open, and room rents and the lower end.
    What is the best time to travel to Spiti Valley in 2024? When to travel to Spiti Valley in 2024? What is the best time for Spiti Valley bike ride?
    Depending on when you choose to visit Spiti, you may have to select the route.

    Very well explained bro with true facts, but u bro miss the attal tunnel, u can avoid the rohtang. But only matters clearance of kunzum la pass, this may be the reason in your view. But i must add very well briefed with ground facts. Specially the way u covered each route info in detail with each season was truly factual and very helpful. Its the best available info on the youtube about spiti valley route. I have explored this route on many occasions but could not stop myself watching this video to refresh my memories. Thks bro for bringing memories back. Hats off bro to your dedication and unmatched love for himalyans. Missing kinnore apples....

Or do I need to wait for Oct 1st and 2nd week. The first option is more suitable for me planning wise, but if it would make a big difference, I'd push out to second option. Help pls. Thanks a lot.

    Sir i have RE meteor and i am planning to complete spiti circuit in coming june
    I want a suggestion from you should i go with tail bag or saddle bags
    Pros and cons

    • @discoverwithdheeraj
      @discoverwithdheeraj  ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not a biker myself, drive more but my brother in law is well experienced and this is what he says “Saddle bags are not as good as tail bag on trails and offroads because tail bags can be tightened as much as you want but if you buy a saddle bag it may jump on most of the bumps and make sound which can distract you while riding.
      2) in case of crash your bag can get damage and items in it can get crushed if bike get disbalan e on any side.
      3. Tail bags from rynoxs are easy on pocket and rugged as well. Storm proof tail bags are good from rynox”

    Hello Dheeraj sir, thanks for such a detailed and informative video. My wife and I are planning the full circuit from Sept 30 - Oct 9 2021. Considering your video it seemed the perfect time but I heard there was some snowfall at Chandertaal and Manali Leg highway was also closed this last week. Would it be safe to travel in a WagonR in those dates?
    Thanks again for your video and waiting for your reply 👍🏻

    • @discoverwithdheeraj
      @discoverwithdheeraj  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jatin bhai I will suggest you check this video on Manali Kaza in October: th-cam.com/video/IL0TysAowJ8/w-d-xo.html
      Manali Kaza Road in October is risky to travel especially after middle of October. There are chances of getting stuck due to sudden snowfall more and more after middle of October. However, in the first two weeks of October, even though snowfall can happen and you can get stuck, but probability is less if I compare with second half of October.
      Hence, if you are traveling in first two weeks on Manali - Kaza road then don’t plan to stay overnight in between Manali and Kaza, which means avoid overnight stay at Chandratal Lake. Go prepared with woolens because it will be cold up there especially mornings and evenings/nights. Carry food and water for at least couple of days. Finally, always check weather before leaving Manali or Kaza for the other side a day before your travel and avoid traveling in case weather predictions are bad.

    • @jatinkharbanda01
      @jatinkharbanda01 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much Dheeraj bhai for sharing this new video. This was very informative as always.
      You suggested above to not stay overnight anywhere between Kaza and Manali. Does that mean a stay is Losar shall also be avoided. We were planning a 2 day stay in Losar:
      Oct 6 : Losar - Chandertaal - Losar
      Oct 7 : Losar - Manali
      As advised by you if the weather is not suitable, we'll drop Losar and go back via the Kinnaur side only. But still you opinion would be highly helpful.
      Thanks. 🙏

    In April 2023 starting our trip from chandigarh. We are 2 family with kids 5 years and 10 years old. Is travelling safe with kids ..Will cold be issue with them and road trip will be bad for them

    • @discoverwithdheeraj
      @discoverwithdheeraj  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Arpit.. well April is still kinda winter like condition in core Spiti and it will surely be cold up there with snow around after Tabo.. not an ideal time to take family with kids especially if you guys are not used to such conditions.. though from the feasibility perspective, it is possible. You will be traveling from Shimla side and coming back the same way.. I will suggest if you can delay till May it will be better but if you cannot do it then go prepared with woollen clothing and stay well hydrated. I can share contact if local folks who can help with accommodation if his hotel open by that time, some do start opening in April

    Hey.. saw a couple of your videos and thank you so much for the insights. My wife and I are planning to drive to Spiti from Gurgaon (via Shimla and return via Manali). We are planning it during 28th Aug through 10 September and have an i20 elite petrol. Can you please suggest if the timing and car is advisable? My driving experience includes frequent trips to Mukteshwar and once till Chopta with my i20 only. Sharing if this gives some perspective for you to suggest accordingly. Thank you

    • @discoverwithdheeraj
      @discoverwithdheeraj  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Abhinav, well, timing-wise it seems OK to me as in general by August end rains reside away and the weather opens up. Your plan of going via Shimla also makes sense however with i20 and its low ground clearance will surely be struggling on Kaza to Manali road especially between Kunzum Pass and Gramphu. Not that it is impossible as I have taken my dZire over it and a Santro but then I don't love my cars more than the thrill and adventure of driving up there :)
      Plan wise plz check this video of mine where Shimla - Spiti - Manali and Shimla - Spiti -Shimla is discussed in detail: th-cam.com/video/g3dzmou9o3Y/w-d-xo.html
