I just live you Michael. You are so kind, generous and caring. I love the way you treat your nephews so much. Your tender care of Blue Bell and all living creatures is so admirable.
For the chickens, you may want to consider treating the whole flock as a preventive. They have been exposed. You need to clean out all the water immediately and refresh the bedding. Antibiotics in the water is the best way to treat them all, just for a week or so. Good luck!
100 % agree with @29. The entire flock needs treatment. You might check with the farmer next door about availability of antibiotics for purchase at the local feed store/agricultural supplies. Usually, cleaning the water trough w/chlorine(bleach) and adding medicated water protects the flock. Good luck. ************************
I was very impressed by the way you gave Bluebell her medicine!!! I had a guinea pig with a goiter and I had to feed her gruel and antibiotics by syringe three times a day but she was used to being handled! Good for you! Very, very kind...!
I just started the video but I have to say, after the banter with Sean about cursing and bleeping it out, it reminded me that since you’ve been filming a few times a week this month, you seem more at ease and happier on camera. I know the pressure to make things really good and the constant thought of how to present your self really weighed on you after your success. As someone who is detailed oriented (sometimes a perfectionist) and REALLY has trouble getting started on projects or even chores (and finishing them if I have to start again), I totally feel how daunting it must be to film and get a video edited and out! But it seems like the more you film every day life, the easier it gets for you and it really is going to add to your skills and success. I don’t even know you, but I am proud of you for the way you have come through the last couple of years and shown yourself to be tenacious and authentic to who you are on your channel. Keep that camera in your pocket ready for anything (I was honestly surprised that you have been pretty much iPhone-only this whole time, your footage when cutting together a special sequence is so cinematic. Apple ought to be paying you and featuring your footage in their shot on iPhone” ads!)
Michael, as for the chicken, if the antibiotics aren't helping I think I might know whats wrong. Not sure how its called exactly in English, but feel the front of belly if it's swollen and/or you feel a lot of stuff in it. If it is, then there is food stuck that is not getting digested. This can be fixed quite easily, but it is nasty: chickens are uncapable of vomitting, so you'll have to help her do so. Best/easiest is doing it with 2 people. One person holds her and tilt her with her head down a bit. The other person massages the front belly. This can take a minute but after a while she will start to vommit and believe me, it stinks like hell. When she does, take a brake once in a while, as she cannot breathe properly whilst this is happening. Edit: as to why I think it might be this issue, we have chickens ourselves and the sound she makes is similar to what one of ours had. The food not getting digested makes the stomach infected, producing a lot of thick slime. Due to this you hear the weird breathing. It might not be the case, but checking if her front belly is swollen (and feeling like a big bag full of water and stuff) is very easily done. Hope this helps in figuring out whats wrong with her.
I used to keep chickens and we always had a bowl of oyster grit available to them to aid digestion in the crop...or as an alternative you can bake eggshells in the oven for a bit to kill bacteria etc. then crush them up to put in a bowl for them. They know when they need to eat it, amazing animals, very funny to watch too. That's a great run and coop they've got💪
@@30gatoscallejeros83 We have that grit as well, I think that one time this chicken ate something that didn't digest well. We always give them, in addition to their normal corn and such, our leftovers and that time it was some Chinese food. Some pieces that came out seemed a bit too large, chicken probably thought it swallow big chunks as is, but that didn't go so well. Could also be something else that caused it, it happened last year and hasn't happened since and also to no other chickens of all the years we've had them. But yea, I hope that if Michaels chicken has the same issue it gets resolved. If the stomach is infected/aggitated, you might have to do the procedure a few times over a couple of days, but it worked well in our case. A dirty and weird job to do, making a chicken vommit, but it helped.
As someone mentioned, the stone lifting may have triggered the neck, shoulder pain ( it’s likely levator scapular muscle and deltoids that attaches to clavicle and occipital bones ( shoulder and base of head) Those muscles are what you use to lift. If I were treating you (22yrs a massage therapist) I would work on those muscles, ice for initial pain then heat. Sometimes a contrast shower of hot/ cold in cycles can confuse pain signals. Rest, anti inflammatories and a good massage therapist is the best. If it doesn’t resolve in a couple days after that treatment I’d recommend chiropractic, but my feeling is it’s really muscular. Hope you and Bluebell will Feel better! She does sound horrible…
Hi Michael, I have an old rotator cuff injury that flairs up once in a while so I get mild pressure massage and put on a sling to keep me from straining or using it. I also use arnica oil. Probably wouldn't hurt (no pun intended) to get an x-ray. I hope there's no dislocation and that you're better soon.
Here is a cheap therapeutic method I use on self / and clients ……. I microwave tube socks filled with beams and rice …….. for a few minutes / 2 mon a sock …. place socks on clavicle are - sternum - around neck - between the shoulder blades - on the upper arms - around the neck …… move them around every 10 - 20 minutes ……. repeat as needed …… a massage is much more relaxing …… but sock therapy is cheaper
I also thought a Spode chamber pot would be just the ticket for you, when you mentioned no bathroom upstairs. Glad you found one! Good luck with the sick chicken…. I have no advice in that domain. Sore shoulder, you will need massage and a good PT. And thanks for the lovely misty scenery accompanied by Bach.
First off...I wish you a speedy recovery...and Blue Bell as well. Secondly, the camera quality is fantastic...I didn't know it could get that crisp. Good to see progress ongoing in the cottage. Tah.
I love your videos and watching your progress in restoring the cottage. I really enjoy your family and friends just seem like such good people. I love how proactive you are for caring for bluebell. Hope your arm feels better!
Hello Michael-I’m sorry you are not doing so well at this time. You should see a doctor because you don’t know if you should be applying heat or cold (cold I imagine) to that shoulder/neck area to help with the inflammation. It’s a bother I know but you may heal better in the end. And you are treating your pretty chicken as well-I hope she improves very soon. I wanted to thank you Michael for the inspiration regarding Spode Blue Italian. Long before I was following your self and Stephanie I had bought a few Spode Blue & White plates to hang on the wall in my dining room-LOVED them and still do. I also had bought the B I teapot in some sort of a sale somewhere. When I saw your collection in your pretty cottage something inside me CLICKED! I have always loved dish-ware, china and crystal too. Blue and white have always been a favorite color combination in anything decorative. I am almost 70 in December, I don’t care. I am collecting Spode Blue Italian as my budget will allow-I LOVE IT SO MUCH! THANK YOU for the inspiration, it brings me SUCH joy!!
I can see the difference in camera quality, your dad is positively glowing 😊 and great quality in darker spaces. I hope you feel better soon and that Bluebell recovers.
Hoping you feel better soon! ❤️ i have back pain frequently, and lying on a wood floor and getting your back as flat as possible and putting a thick book under your head and resting that way for as long as you can, helps immensely! While your lying there, give yourself a hug but pulling each shoulder towards you and then flatten as much on the floor. Ot sounds weird but helps.
Great extra grit for your chickens is egg shells. My Nanna raised chickens all her life and always fed the shells to the chickens. Whatever she used every day was put in a separate bowl then put in bottom of the oven for 10 minutes. Crush them up and put in feed. This gives better shells on all your eggs and helps the chickens with the grit they need and protein for better eggs. It’s an old Irish thing but really works well.
We always done the shells in the oven. Most people think I am crazy when I tell them. We do oyster shells to but their own are better for their digestion and for thicker shells with new eggs. If your shells get thin you just aren’t given them enough shells. I really hope Belle gets better. Another vlogger is dealing with BUMBLEFOOT. It’s caused from them jumping on and off sharp surfaces, scratching the feet, the poop caused bacteria to grow so you have to soak their feet in epson salt 1-2 times a day as you squeeze out the infection. The things that people will do to save a chicken or a pet is crazy and heartwarming. As I sit here slowly typing this comment I am pretty sore and in severe pain in the same area and I hope you won’t have to keep this as a new normal. I have rheumatoid arthritis and it doesn’t take much to set it off especially when you are reaching up to hang candles and dd
And put in roofing. I’m hoping it’s not to bad. I get the same spot and it just keeps coming back. The one thing that hurts it the most though was being on my phone. Typing is by far the worst. My doctor said that holding phones out in front of us while typing with our thumbs are causing carpal tunnel. Very painful and very frustrating because there isn’t much that can be done for it. Good luck
Hello Michael. Hopefully you see this comment. I am not a vet but I work in the animal feed business so I receive a lot of info on chickens. You should check for avian flue. It is extremely contagious and we are currently in high risk periode in France (since yesterday as announced by the agriculture department). May be check the news in France for "influenza aviaire". These risks periods happen every year as the wild birds are migrating. But please check more information on that to protect the rest of your flock but also chickens that might be around in farms. If in doubt, ask a vet. 🐔😷
Michael, you’re leaving us with a cliffhanger - Bluebell’s recovery and how’ve your shoulder is healing! Hopefully all will be rainbows and unicorns in the next video.
Yes, please, updates on your health as well as Bluebell. Don't just keep going forward. We'd like to see part 2 sometime ....Please don't forget. Also, please put close captioned on everything. Sometimes the volume isn't great. Thank you.
You might want to look into getting something called Tylan powder, we use it for farm animals, works as an antibiotic and slight anti-inflammatory. It's also helped our dog and pet snake.
Hi Michael....I've over lifted and stretched all my life and I have pain between my shoulder blades, arm, up my neck, down my back, similar to what you're describing sometimes. So, for what it's worth, my Chiropractor gave me a hint and it works for me. Roll up a towel, tightly and place it on your bed lengthwise....fold your arms in front of you and gently lay back on the rolled up towel (should be placed in the same direction as your spine)....lay back and, although you'll feel it, it could be that your back is out, so you'll hear some popping....don't worry about it, lay there for about 10 seconds, then slowly get up, do this again in a few hours and hopefully, IF that's the problem and everything is slowly going back into place, the inflammation will cease and you should have some relief.
i had the very same thing- it was a pinched nerve, too months to finally get rid of the pain> Dr gave me gabapenton. it helped but you cant do anything done. i used cbt cream on it and it was a life saver. hope you get better fast
"gotta do a little research on the internet on how to fix a broken chicken." That cracked me up! I watched your other video first, to see if she survived before watching this one... You did a great job with her.
I would love to see you put some paint on a canvas……as an episode. Maybe your cute little chickens walking down your new cottage path, or on the pretty green grass, or strutting around in their coop. In primary colors, it is almost a cute story in itself…..so why not?! Looking forward to it!
Bluebell sounds really sick and I hope your antibiotics will help her to improve as I know you will take good care of her and for you I think your muscles cry out after that stone lifting. Hope you find some cure also soon so you both get better soon. Sending you both some healing power and think of you in the meantime. Have fun with your new phone it is something you can play with as it needs not much of lifting *smiles* And I enjoy my airtag it lets you find your things easily. Lovely greetings and careful hugs to you and your family.❤❤
Sorry to hear you are doing poorly, see a doctor. You seem to be taking better care of "Blue Bell" than yourself. Good to see Mick, Sean and yourself working together. Some of the wood around the dormer's looks so fragile and cracked. Should it be replaced? I'm not a carpenter so? I loved an interlude you did in the middle of this vlog, beautiful Bach playing in the background to lovely visuals of the grounds covered in fog. Brilliant, thanks so much.
Get better soon Michael your pain is from over working in cottage and hanging those candles 😆 which was awesome. Hope blue bell chicken gets better too. 🐓👍❤️ Rest your muscles👍
Doing great with the daily vlogs Michael. Love tuning in every evening for your updates no matter how long or short they are.Hope you feel better soon and little bluebell too.
Aww, Mick, you shoulda taken that lil tacka inside and given him a nice warm jumper in a nice warm kitchen, and said g'bye in the mornin. Try heat pads for you neck, and shoulder. Not ones that stick to the skin tho m8. Sean and your Dad are good value! Nice goin chicken doc Mick lookin forward to seeing Duncan, Sean Your Dad and Bluebell in you next vid.
Hi Michael= I wonder if you've injured your rotator cuff in your shoulder- can be exceptionally painful! You're going to need to rest that shoulder for a while by the look of it! Hope you can get some relief sooner than later. Also hoping Bluebell gets better soon- Poor wee chicken. Take care Michael. ... Love from Australia.
Michael there are several sites online to help with your chicken. The way she was breathing opening her beak could be chronic respiratory disease but if treated she will be okay. She needs to be quarantined to another area away from the flock. Most feed stores will have antibiotics for her to take. I know it's hard to find a veterinarian that will take care of chickens. I raised chickens for many years and using my nursing skills was able to keep them healthy. If you give her medicine do not eat her eggs for a bit after medicine is done. Instructions will be on label. Good luck with her and don't give up on her. I would give the coop a good cleaning also.
Love watching all your Videos Michael and especially life with all your family. Your lovely cottage is looking fabulous. Fingers crossed for poor Bluebell and you were so right to separate her from the others. Hope your shoulder improves Stay safe
Sorry that you have this shoulder and neck pain, hope you are feeling better soon. You are pretty amazing with your knowledge on so many things and research to help Bluebell get better, such a beautiful bird hope she recovers ok. Take care, love Robb Torremolinos Spain xxx
clean the chicken coop to remove any poop of the infected chicken from being pecked at or scratched or rolled in by the other chickens. Also wear gloves and a mask the dust can be dangerous
Hope Bluebell and yourself feel better soon.... keep an eye on the other chickens hopefully it's just bluebell that gets sick . Sending healing hugs to you and bluebell xxx
Bach’s Cello Suites (?) accompaniment is wonderful. Your work is A+. So sorry about your shoulder/arm. While you’re incredibly motivated, please rest your shoulder to allow for discontinuing opiates.
I hope you are feeling better soon. I hate seeing you in pain. When you were lifting the step of the cottage I was thinking "that's gotta hurt". You're so sweet the way you're taking care of Bluebell.
....in other news, it was amazing to see "the ole team" back with work & banter! Great stuff 😉😁💖 ....I love the use of the Bach music too...he's my fave classical...amazing phrasing 😍...I hope wee chicken is better soon....you know you'll make the Christmas deadline - you've got this! 👍💖
sounds like a pinched nerve, there's some light exercises you can do to alleviate it however alternate with ice and heat to help reduce the pinch and for sure see your doctor, all of the physical work you've completed recently including lifting those heavy stones, looking up while inserting the rockwool and attaching the Halloween decorations to the ceiling, also lots of editing with your head tilted forward may have contributed. wishing you and bluebell a speedy recovery, new camera is working great!
Try a bit a Apple Cider Vinegar for your Bluebell Hen - It has worked wonders with my hens over the years and is very good for the whole flock. Fingers Crossed X P.s Love the Vlogs XxX
I just live you Michael. You are so kind, generous and caring. I love the way you treat your nephews so much. Your tender care of Blue Bell and all living creatures is so admirable.
You can call her Spode, because she’s blue(bell) 😂
I’m a veterinarian and you are doing great!
I applaud your chicken saving efforts! :)
For the chickens, you may want to consider treating the whole flock as a preventive. They have been exposed. You need to clean out all the water immediately and refresh the bedding. Antibiotics in the water is the best way to treat them all, just for a week or so. Good luck!
Brook, brook, CHICKEN!
Research oregano oil ...for all your new flock. It keeps them healthy ! It goes in their water. It is natural and will not hurt them.
How to fix a Broken chicken. You are absolutely adorable.
I was very impressed by the way you gave Bluebell her medicine!!! I had a guinea pig with a goiter and I had to feed her gruel and antibiotics by syringe three times a day but she was used to being handled! Good for you! Very, very kind...!
Good job you spotted the chicken. Very nice gentle treatment of her. Hope she recovers.
Bertie is my FAVORITE!!!!! More Bertie content pretty please 🥺 🙏🏼🐕🐶 he’s so adorable 😍
He is. So tiny and feisty.
How lovely to see you care for Bluebell. I do hope she recovers.
Chickens that are sick are usually attacked by the other chickens. Good call to put her in a cage and nurse her. ❤️
How to fix a broken chicken...priceless! I hope Michael you feel better. Sending warm wishes from my neck of the woods!
You are such a kind person Michael even to a chicken
Michael, you are so kind and have such a love for life. ox
Michael hope you start feeling better! You are such a lovely soul it was so sweet seeing you taking care of bluebell.
I hope your shoulder feels better. You are a good chicken father.
Poor Bluebell. She is soo pretty, just love her coloring.
So sweet Michael! Not many would care about a chicken. We are meant to care for God’s creatures.

Agreed 27 years LMT
What of acupuncture instead of chiro?
N.D. here and I am 💯% in agreement with Ms. Kelly. Find yourself a good masseur/masseuse and an osteopath or chiropractor. Feel better soon!

Poor chicken! Hope she’s better already. Hope YOU are better already!
You look like the best person to look after a poorly chicken, I hope Bluebell is up and about soon, and I hope your shoulder gets better soon!
What a chuckle I had listening to Michael fussin at that chicken to simmer down 😄
ALWAYS good to see Dad and Sean working together!!
"Doing It Ourselves" -- even the veterinary work!! Good On Ya!!
Much sharper quality with new camera. Incredible difference.
Wishing the best for Bluebell. Stephanie also has a hurt shoulder and I believe it's the same one.....must be Chateau Shoulder.

Rest your muscles👍
Sorry you are in pain and also bluebell not well wishing you both a speedy recovery

Awww poor Bluebell. She's lucky to have you taking care of her. Hope your shoulder feels better soon.
Cottage is looking good. You’ve have done a beautiful job on it.

Poor chicken. I hope she gets better soon. And I hope your arm gets better too.
So glad you look after your animals,I know how long ago this was but animals need our care,😊
Michael I Hope will soon you feel better and get the right treatment to deal with the shoulder, neck issue!
You have a very kind and thought soul. I hope that both you and the chicken are feeling better soon.
How thoughtful and caring you are. That little chicken is lucky its in a very caring place.
Love watching all your Videos Michael and especially life with all your family. Your lovely cottage is looking fabulous. Fingers crossed for poor Bluebell and you were so right to separate her from the others. Hope your shoulder improves Stay safe

clean the chicken coop to remove any poop of the infected chicken from being pecked at or scratched or rolled in by the other chickens. Also wear gloves and a mask the dust can be dangerous

Oh poor you Michael. Hope you get your pain sorted soon. And poor chicken too. You make a right pair xx
Michael, I hope Bluebell gets better soon.
The ceiling levering work in the cottage looks great.
Thank you for sharing.
Sweet Bluebell 😢
sounds like a pinched nerve, there's some light exercises you can do to alleviate it however alternate with ice and heat to help reduce the pinch and for sure see your doctor, all of the physical work you've completed recently including lifting those heavy stones, looking up while inserting the rockwool and attaching the Halloween decorations to the ceiling, also lots of editing with your head tilted forward may have contributed. wishing you and bluebell a speedy recovery, new camera is working great!
Praying for Bluebell 🙏✝️🙏♥️
perfekt video for my sunday morning, ty
Try a bit a Apple Cider Vinegar for your Bluebell Hen - It has worked wonders with my hens over the years and is very good for the whole flock. Fingers Crossed X
