Bhante Thank you for your explanation of the Buddhadhamma. After nine years of confusing teachings I am understanding what the Buddha taught for the first time. Sadhu! I have a question. If we are all creating our reality, why does every human create the same reality? If we are standing together in front of a herd of elephants for example, why do we see the same elephants of the same appearance and number? Why do we hear them trumpeting in the same frequency? Why do we both experience their movement in the same way; such that if they charge us, we both perceive the charge as threatening and run away? Of course, if the number of people experiencing this event is increased to say 1000 , then all 1000 people will see the same elephants. How are we creating identical realities?
BILLY: Do we really see the same herd of elephants? If you and I were standing in front of your parents, looking at them, is what arises in your mind the same as what arises in mine? I have no idea who they are as they are strangers to me. Likewise, you and I looking at a herd of elephants - if you have visited the zoo several times in your childhood and seen several elephants before in real life, and I have never once visited any zoo and only saw pictures of elephants but not in real life, would we both have the same thought?
From Billy: Are we really creating the same reality? When 2 people look at a herd of elephants, if one has lived in Africa for many years and seen lots of live elephants, and the other person lives in Europe and never even been inside a zoo and now seeing elephants in real life for the first time, do you think exactly the same thoughts are going through both persons? Are they both thinking exactly the same thing? Creating exactly the same reality in their minds? Billy
The Bible does not teach about a God who would torture people in a hell for eternity. The teaching comes from people who claim to be Christian but in reality mis-represent the God in the Bible.
