I thought I'd use a real whiteboard for a change. There are more things you need to consider when doing your niche research but what I show you in this video is one of the most helpful tips I've discovered. I know a lot of you guys are overwhelmed with finding your next niche so I hope his helps :) If you're struggling with something specific on KDP let me know and I can make a video for you.
I love the whiteboard. Thank you again for sharing your comment sense and how you work things out. Sometimes I miss your first video as they were more entertaining, but I know the way you do it now, you can give more valuable info
@@REFRESH-kf1iv I appreciate that. You are completely right. The first videos which were animated couldn't really give much value or explain why things are so valuable but they are great for beginners. I might be bringing them back :)
It's funny to me how I watch your videos with a notepad and a pen. If I hit my KDP target for the year...I'll find a way to show my appreciation to you, boss. Thanks for the tons of value.
So true mate! Been trying to tell people search results aren’t a great indicator. You don’t need to worry about literally 90% of books showing Another thing to mention… When you type in say Vegetarian cookbook for beginners….get to page 2/3 and all sorts of shit pops up- Keto, carnivore, paleo etc. furthest thing from competition
Reminds me of what Paul Marles said in one video that ' you are not competing against thousands of books, only the good ones'. Crucial reminder! The title 'The dumbest....', if it's a pun. I like it.
I love how practical and logical you are in your research, Barry. It makes absolute sense. You are the Billy Beane / Moneyball of KDP in the way that you have a very simple yet highly effective and intelligent way of evaluating your niches. Thanks so much for sharing this, "Barry Beane"! I am looking forward to trying this.
It’s a good perspective to look at the niche research in fact if the book is on page 3-5-50 for the “vegetarian cookbook for beginners”, it might be still your competitor because there is a chance it’s ranking for a bunch of similar keywords and still making decent sales. IMO it’s better to look at your category bestsellers. That’s where you see all your competitors and identify who is really the competitor and who is just there by accident.
Great video bro, and I stopped giving much attention to search results many years ago. Although I often advise beginners relying on organic sales to look at search results to determine competition, as I think to a *certain degree* it may help to determine how competitive a niche is.
Completely agree. I advise to look at the search results number first to even see if its worth investigating a niche deeper. But its all about your high seling competitors :)
@barrygeorgioukdp lol. I am. Each day I wake up to make a positive change in oneself is a good start to my day. Great video and knowledge, it's appreciated.

is there anyway that people who have bought the course can start learning the course the beta testers learned for the 397 price? im finding that trying to find a niche is hard for me and having to wait 3 more weeks is painful. i wish i had access to some course. its hard to have to wait. i need some serious guidance that only money can buy. its hard to wait. keep doing what you're doing but can us who preordered at least have access to the beta course and then the new course. something to feed our apetite till the course comes out.
So, if there are 10k results and only 6-7 books are selling is it a good niche? Just to clarify some thoughts I have in my head right now.. hmm And also what happens if we increase this number progressively. For example 20k results but 12 books are selling. Is it the same or it starting to get lost since the search results are going massively high? And what about 5k results and 2 are selling vs 10k results 10 selling? I'm just trying to understand the "ratio" of it
@@barrygeorgioukdp That should do it. Cool! And if out of those 5k results the 2 are selling well, is it good to go for that niche? Or you maybe look for a niche with 5k results and 4-5 books that are selling? This basically means you have to compete with more books since it's not only 2 but like 5 but doesn't that also mean the demand is bigger?
This is honestly one of the most useful videos on research that I've seen, and something that I had also concluded on my own. Although lately I just think of it as how many spots are "free" on the front page. Free as in not occupied by direct competitors that are actually selling well.
Very good question. The more important question to ask is 'How can I make my book stand out from the competitors?'. This way the number of competitors won't matter as much because you are unique but if you really want me to give you a solid number, I like to publish in niches with roughly 3-8 high selling competitors :)

Yes if you could give some advice about children books keywords. Also without ads is it impossible to sell?

What about creating a niche that doesnt exist yet? Whats your thoughts on it?
Good question. Personally I don't like publishing in these niches because there is no proof of demand :)

You mean niche that just 8 person competing with ??
With just 8 publishers publishing on that topic???
rather, what he means is the number of well-selling books and how many books there are in the niche does not matter
