When I was growing up in the 60s and 70s I would go to flea markets with my family and buy old transistor radios for 25 cents. My mother would yell at me saying "you have enough junk". I only wish I had bought every one I saw now..
Todd Marsh repairing old radios and making them play again is very cool and rewarding. I always wonder about all the radio shows and events that old radio had played in its past. Fun stuff! 👏🏻👍❤️📻
I cannibalized a lot of my household's pocket Transistor Radios from the early 1970's, to build my own little matchbox radio projects - - wish I had saved them too
I hope you get it soon. I guess you must be getting it from EBay (China)? Amazon will get it to you in days. Enjoy that radio and thanks for watching. ❤️📻
Not bad for a $10.00 radio although the SW band is a bit limited. If they needed to limit the band length to 10 MHz, why not 6-16 MHz instead? Thank you for the review and have a good day.
I guess "PWR" was not an option at the board meeting that day? Radio did sound impressively well! Its looks kinda reminds my of a Sony. Wonder if you couldn't mark a witness mar on the main needle to help pippoint more accurate? Im looking forward to the next video...that's where you rip it open! Great video TRG! ~Jack, VEG
It is a nice radio. I think Alex Jones got banded from most places after his Sandy Hook stories. Shortwave is one of the few places that will broadcast just about anything.
2:50 This Radio Set covers almost the entire commercial radio spectrum. 87 -108 MHz for FM, 520 - 1710 KHz AM, and 8 - 18 MHz for SW - - that is very impressive for such a low cost receiver. And you wanted it to go lower than 8 MHz SW, be appreciative for what you have here!
@@class8garage308 the sound is good but it’s a small radio with a small speaker . If your shop is small it would be okay but if its a large area you might want something with a bigger speaker.
@@TheRadiogeek Copy that received radio very nice lil radio I picked up Chicago stations, Cincinnati, and I on east coast new england only Bad feature not sure if you picked up on it was the volume crank should be opposite, If want less volume should crank down not up, if want more they have you turn knob to earth no make any logic.
@@class8garage308 yeah for some reason a lot of the Chinese radio have the volume knob backwards. I have no idea why this is. Good luck with your new radio. 👍
Oh those modern pseudo analogue radios... In fact, they use widely spread and cheap IC like KT0932 et.c.. Those ICS have good reception, selectivety, sound, wide fm range (32...110mhz!), but while tuning, it gives this awful "soft mute" effect... Not much pleasure of using this kind of rcv
The KT0936M used in this radio is the last generation ic and has two types of soft mute that can be selected with a pin of the IC in radios without the external eprom. Some other settings of the soft mute like threshold and hysteresis can be programmed from the radio factory with an external eprom. So not all the radios using this ic may have the same soft mute. The ic does not interact with the external eprom, it just receives the settings at power on. If no setting are received from the eprom it uses its own standard settings.

Junk? Oh no! I bet she said it in that motherly tone too. We all know that you can never have too many radios. 😎❤️📻
@@TheRadiogeek I now spend my spare time restoring and bringing back to life those old radios that people have discarded. I enjoy it so much too.♥️👍

@@TheRadiogeek Hi, i have ordered it on Aliexpress at US$9.00 including shipping. It's not sold anymore at this price.
Just got one. I'm impressed with the tone. Great sounding radio and easy to tune.

Thanks. Glad you liked it. I think 6 -16 MHz would have been better too. 👍
Great bang for your buck here! For less than 11 bucks, it's certainly worth it!
Thanks for the review. At $10 it is a good deal but at $17, it is a pass. Thumbs up to your review.
Thanks! Yep 10 bucks is a good deal.
at 7 couldn't say no. looks like it was designed with the outdoors in mind.
Hdofu Fox wow $7 ! Can you say score?! 👍❤️📻

Olá amigo bom dia, vc ainda tem o rádio 📻!!?? Se vc poder responder em português, esse rádio é bom de Sintonia obg

I would just have rather see it have lower bands and not the higher one. This would make the radio better for night listening.
can you replace the antenna with a bigger one would that make a difference with this type of radio?
You could try clipping a wire on the end of the antenna but if you use too long of a wire you might overload the radio with too much signal.
@@TheRadiogeek I've found that a length of about 6 feet with an alligator clip works well.
Which one is good v-117 or v-115 kindly reply... love from india
Go with V-115. It has digital read out and lot of memories to store the Stations AM/FM/SW
what u say is not stereo the radio or headset thing
The radio is not stereo and the headphones are not stereo. Thanks for stopping by. 👍

Some of the cheap Chinese radio are amazing for the money. I am not a fan of the soft mute but it looks like a lot of DSP radios are going that way.
