My Mom wasn’t a quilter but was a great enabler. When you talked about flying to spend a couple of days going to quilt shops I didn’t think that sounded odd at all! It’s a great idea! We have “Shop Hops” where several quilt shops in an area work together to host a long weekend of shopping. Quilt Shops, antique shops, gift shops, fun places to eat. We’d see different areas and have a weekend of inspiration and fun. We also did some quilter’s cruises. One started in Baltimore where we went to see Baltimore Album quilts. So many possibilities! Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts has a lot of good video tutorials. Her templates are very nice. She’s a wonderful teacher if you ever get the opportunity to take a class with her! You can never go wrong with French General! I am a very experienced quilter and wash all my fabrics first to remove harmful chemicals that are in the fabric. But I do use Best Press to starch all the fabrics before cutting. It will make the fabric stiffer and easier to keep a consistent seam allowance. Laundry Basket Quilts patterns are beautiful but not the easiest. Fat Quarter Shop creates great patterns for beginners and has many videos with instructions. She also goes live on TH-cam each friday morning and many times demonstrates cutting and sewing techniques. The mystery blue fabric maybe a homespun fabric that is harder to use because of it being looser weave. Wished we lived closer I would be happy to help you, but I live in Seattle. I hope this helps. I need a Quilter's Station do over!! Looking back I should have just followed you around and shouted "I'll have what she's having!" Those colors you chose for the Laundry Basket quilt!!! I never would have thought to combine those colors and they're gorgeous! That BBD Halloween quilt is on my bucket list. Hand applique is a slow process but I love it. It's definitely worth a try! It's great for traveling, car trips, that kind of thing. Have so much fun in England!! Can't wait to see your quilts come together!

I went to my LNS today and came out with spending less than $20.00. That included 5 new fancy floss colors and a couple patterns on clearance. Yay! Can't wait to see what Nashville brings in March.
