You've gotta wonder if the people on these train had any idea they were hearing international champions, not just a few guys messing around having fun. Although Acoustix certainly gives off both vibes!
I saw this group years ago in a high school auditorium, this is the best barber shop quartet I've ever heard, I have their cd. They won the lifetime achievement award and I can see why, they can no longer compete for this award, you can only compete once. I would like to see their performance again.
This is possibly my favorite b-shop song of all time. It doesn't matter what mood I'm in and whether I'm watching this or listening to there cd, when this song is on, I'm happy!
I love this. It's not really barbershop style, but the words, message, and tone really seem to fit the setting: singers walking around making people happy.
The documentary is named "Voices" and it was release in the mid to late 1990s. Until supplies ran out, it was available at the Barbershop Harmony Society's "Harmony Marketplace". Although discussed among the Marketplace staff, the documentary was never re-released in DVD format. Yes... it is a pretty amazing introduction for the public to what we know and love as Barbershop Harmony.
Well yeah, I know it's not really barbershop but on the cd it's at least a little more barbershop with Steppin' Out in the middle. But still, I just love this!
I couldn't hear it Jacob. But at least to me, it looks like at that point they cut in the original live audio track. After hearing this a million times, I believe the first part of this was post production over dubbed. The "acoustics" of the recording just have that feeling to me. And in that audio swap there is an unintentional key change!
Simply great harmony in an impromptu place...gets everyones' attention. Check out the guy on the subway in the background...looks like he's on a different planet.
Thanks, Derick - I found my VHS copy - just wish it was available on DVD! I am fortunate that I get to see New Tradition on a regular basis, as they're based about 15 miles from me. Still world class!
Translating the description I got "By train in the United States, it seems like this is always a sight to see." This makes a little more sense - if you ride a subway in the US, you'll usually see performers looking to make a buck off the commuters. Although, these guys are a little different. :)
Ya gotta love it...great job by these guys...what a change from all that garbage today where lyrics are non-existent with the grunting, chanting and groaning. .
I have/had a VHS video that contained this - it chronicled the activities surrounding one of the championships one year, and I would LOVE to find it on DVD, but can't so far. Does anyone know the name of the video this came from?
Unfortunately I don't have it. And I think there's no particular reason for random people with a youtube channel just not responding to their messages. I think we'll just have to listen to it a lot and live with the satisfaction that it gives :P
This is fun, but it's not barbershop and that ain't a subway. It's an airport people mover, and it kinda looks like Pittsburgh. And that's not Accoustix, it's a Temptations tribute band from Sweden. They just look like Accoustix from the camera angle and all.
+dave1y2000 Apparently you don't know much about Barbershop Quartet singing. The singing style/arrangement of this song is indeed barbershop style and the group is indeed Acoustix and not a temptations tribute band.
@TheAckerman92 I didn't know he was in Acoustix before! I saw him, and was like, 'Isn't that Jeff from Max Q?' And then I was like, 'Nah, I'm just blind.' Neat!
just some bros who enjoy each others vocal company! who can blame 'em for diggin' it so intensely. they probably made out in the mens bathroom after this.
You've gotta wonder if the people on these train had any idea they were hearing international champions, not just a few guys messing around having fun. Although Acoustix certainly gives off both vibes!
Coming back to this over 10 years later... still impressed
I love videos of singing in public. And who better to do it than the freaking Acoustix? They kick a truly ungodly amount of behind.

Now THAT'S a quartet that will sing ANYwhere!! The way it should be. :-)
What fun!

Absolutely amazing! They are making all the people around them smile....we need more of this stuff around.
Holy crap, Jeff Oxley really did have a mullet.
I couldn't find this video for awhile. Thanks for posting it. I love this group! I was sad Jeff left Acoustix, but I also love Max Q now.
this is still SO good
Well yeah, I know it's not really barbershop but on the cd it's at least a little more barbershop with Steppin' Out in the middle. But still, I just love this!
Great great harmony....notice no grunting, groaning or that chanting crappola you hear today....beautiful job guys.

When there's a shine on your shoes! ... great song! great sound!

This is a very beautiful thing to do. It should be available without prescription on every subway!
I too, couldn't find the vid for a while. Thanks for reposting! Great toe-tapping song when wearing my happy shiny shoes
Shine On Your Shoes
Thank you so much for reposting... I saw this ages ago and it inspired me to join up... but could never see the clip again untill now... thanks
Calling my boss because I missed a few stops along the way. Who needs a job anyway.

Love how Efren Reyes is randomly mopping the floors.
I've watched this too many times..
Just great.....and even more so with the impromptuness inside the train station.
Ya gotta love it...great job by these guys...what a change from all that garbage today where lyrics are non-existent with the grunting, chanting and groaning. .
Beauregard Clayton you wouldn't happen to know the name of this song would you?
"A Shine on Your Shoes".....an oldie but a goodie....especially with these talented gentlemen singing.

Wonderful singing of these cool guys.. Oh, how I ♥ A cappella Music :)
Gonna need more barbershop singing and public smiling in the next four years.
This would make a great commercial!!
That was bad ass!
This warms my heart so much. :)
I have/had a VHS video that contained this - it chronicled the activities surrounding one of the championships one year, and I would LOVE to find it on DVD, but can't so far. Does anyone know the name of the video this came from?
Wow!!!!....Music that's understandable.
Absolutely brilliant ❤❤❤❤
Shine on your Shoes/ Steppin' out with my Baby Medley

Jack Bridges Do you still have the arrangement? I would be very happy if I could have a copy. :-)
This video is just great!
Did you get it?
No. Jack did not answer me. But maybe my TH-cam knowledge is too poor... ;-p
Are you also interested in the sheet or do you even happen to have it?
Unfortunately I don't have it. And I think there's no particular reason for random people with a youtube channel just not responding to their messages. I think we'll just have to listen to it a lot and live with the satisfaction that it gives :P
:-)
Well singing does " Disturb others" on the subway.
AHHH THAT WAS SO COOL!!!!!!!
awesome:P
Great arrangement!
Is this in a true subway car or just one of those airport shuttle cars?
Airport tram, not really a subway, but I'm not complaining.
lol it isnt barbershop at all though. i guess is it 4 part harmony but thats about it. lol i love it too. the tag is awsome on their CD
Anyone know who arranged this? I'd LOVE to get this sheet.
It was arranged by Jim Clancy
"Ay it's da rat pack buch!" Doooo Wop!
Is that Jeff from Max Q???
Yep!

That’s Acoustix! Put on your glasses old person!
Absolutely barbershop, absolutely Acoustix, and that's an airport tram.
@TheAckerman92 I didn't know he was in Acoustix before! I saw him, and was like, 'Isn't that Jeff from Max Q?' And then I was like, 'Nah, I'm just blind.' Neat!
1:54 was a pretty bad bari mess up..
.....wow.....lol
Shhhhhhhhhhh!
@amWinRAR Message me with your email, I have a copy :)
Hey, do you still happen to have that copy...?
just some bros who enjoy each others vocal company! who can blame 'em for diggin' it so intensely. they probably made out in the mens bathroom after this.
Not a typical subway. Shuttle train in an airport. Couldn't tell which airport but lots of clues for someone who flies more than I do.
