    Not lecturing on gear, just sharing my dumb mistake.
    A month ago, I was geared up head-to-toe and rode hours (from Reeds Spring, to Branson, to Springfield, and back). I took all my gear off when I got home, but decided to go tank up before I put the bike away just wearing shorts and a shirt.
    Well, of course riding back down my gravel road, I accidentally used two fingers on the front brake instead of one and the front locked up, instantly dumping the bike on gravel. Shredded my right knee. If I’d left my gear on, I wouldn’t have even had a scratch.
    I’m good now, luckily it was just flesh. And my frame-sliders saved the bike!

      Does just fine going up a steep on-ramp. The bike has plenty of power. I can cruise at 75 MPH with no problems.

    I was up to 82 and climbing on the actual speedo of my 300l the other day with about 400 miles on the bike. I let off because the road surface was wet and there was a fair amount of traffic. I weigh about 170 lbs. Can't certify the accuracy. Getting my first oil change tomorrow and will try again.

    • @WOODZMAN

      Yea I think the weight is what makes a big difference

      Hit 87 indicated 85 gps on mine going down a slight hill and tucked up tight too it. Im 215lbs. Pretty much all it'll do because that was knocking on the door of 9k rpm.

  • @artopure
    @artopure 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I'll have to do a top speed run on mine. My last ride I was cruising 70, but never attempted to go past it. I feel like it will do mid-high 80s if I tried.

      It’s plenty fast for a small dualsport

  • @Scoottoots
    @Scoottoots 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Nice. I'm lighter than you at 185 lbs. I did 2 top speed runs and hit 144 kph or 89 mph on a dead flat road. That was the stock speedo of course. I previously compared it to gps and it was about 4% optimistic, so that 89 becomes 85 mph. I guess the extra weight made the difference between my runs and yours. Quite acceptable I think for a 286 cc bike that's all choked up to Euro 5 compliance. Loving the bike, and I can see you are as well :-)

  • @hiltonmcconnell2563
    @hiltonmcconnell2563 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    That seems slow for a 300 the Versrs 300 X would do just over 100 miles per hour ( 160 Km per hr.) and the KTM 390 Adventure around just under 100 miles per hour ( 155 Km per hr.)

    You'd think Honda would install a taller top gear in those. My 93 XR250 has more top end than that (78) I also have a CRF230l and it only tops out at 65. Kinda disappointing.

    • @WOODZMAN
      @WOODZMAN  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think Honda is just not wanting people to ride a light weight dual sport over 75-80mph and really enjoy n most cases it’s not necessary. Most people want them to go them speeds but do you really ride that fast
