Bells of Ireland turns out to be most useful for me is when they are still in the field😂 Haven’t found the combo to use them in a bouquet & had to wait for them till the thorny stage to get enough stem length.. Tried for 2 years and still haven’t grown a perfectly lush green Bells. Hopefully atriplex would be more useful as I’m trying it out this year

Ooh my favorite green is spring💜 i was desperate last year so I used our front bushes and hostas😂 love the white and green. I will just have to buy Bells from another grower, usually to, too wet. Very interesting texture of the sweet willie in bud form.. Well, I set out to make another raised bed in our back yard yesterday, after a evening chat with husband were are making three😅 thanks for the "green" for the green chat ladies💜
I'm still confused about harvesting Bells. This is my first time growing them, and I'm hoping to sell to a florist. What is "tall enough to be useful"? Thanks for an excellent episode!
Hello! As long as the stems are developing bells and they are long enough to be useful for your intended purpose, you can go ahead and harvest. For example, a 12” stem may not be useful for you, in which case you would want to wait until the stem lengthened more, even if it already had bells developing. The height range varies depending on planting time and growing conditions. During early spring I love to fill in with cherrybranches. You might ask why I consider it to be a "fillergreen"? The tiny little buds of the cherryflowers are so green and on my wildcherry tree there are so many of them on each of the twigs. They look green and so fresh, even when they open up! But also the spirea bushes offer the tiniest green leaves. They look so sweet and also the texture of those tiny leaves along the stem looks interesting. It fits perfectly to my tulips and other spring flowers like ranunculus, anemone, daffodils etc. Later in spring starts wild chervil, its also a great filler befor my other filler greens are ready for being harvested. I'm an organic flowerfarmer in zone 7b/8a in denmark. Here some crops need a little longer, because the sea and the land warm up slowely during spring. And with all the storms we have the year round I don't want to build a greenhouse (that I also wouldn't like to heat in cause of the energy beeing wasted). Thats the reason why I'm very thankful for perennials and wild flowers. They support my focal flowers especially during spring, are robust and give my bouquets a romantic, wild look ;) But of course there is such a lot of more possibilities ;) Last but not least: Thank you for the great videos and your Cool flowers-bible!!! Hello, I listened to this twice.. and am I understand correctly? Soak attriplex seeds, for 24hrs, let them dry out on a paper towel, then roll it up, stuff it into a sealed baggy for 5 days, WITH NO ADDITIONAL MOISTURE?? They don't need any additional moisture in a sealed baggy..? And then place them on a soil block and proceed as usual, cool room 66-68* AIR temp, heat mat at 75-80*, till 50% germinate? tried starting this seed in January in my grow room and had little to no germination..
@@sallyloosli4379 Yeah, I thought this sounded a little funny too. I decided if I really wanted to know more, I'd watch episode 30. I usually have no trouble germinating spinach, but I've never grown Atriplex. Good luck though!

I sprouted spinach this year 95%! Cool germination. Indoors. My floor is 57%. I 'll have to do that Joe trick as it warms up. 😂Fresh and fabulous.
