Love how AI has always shown love and support to all the young players that came after him. No insecurity, no shade, just pure love and support unlike guys like Isiah Thomas who is always trying to tear other people down to build himself up.
❤ AI. Old legends actually went down a notch for me. MJ, Magic, they’ll give props but they will never pass the torch of greatness to the next generation to for the good of the game. MJ and Kobe’s leadership as well the more I got to know them takes them down a notch. I’ve had IRL bosses like that but I’d rather have only 4 chips but follow a leader like Steph rather 6 or 5 but work for guys like Mike or Kobe (IRL bosses like that can be damn near traumatic)
God I absolutely remember that preseason game and Iverson COOKED Nick. I was in utter shock. Nick was my favorite player at that time. I couldn’t believe he kept biting on that crossover.
That ending got me cracking up. The answer a living legend. And Shaq we don't need to speak on. He been retired for a while and still a superstar. Damn this makes me miss Kobe though. The mamba was different. People one day will understand when they be able to break down games better how good Kobe actually was with the basketball. Second to none imho.
That Steph, Kobe, Mike, Lebron, Shaq, line-up does actually sound like the best ever NBA 5 of the modern era, and a starting 5 that would be nearly impossible to beat. Can anyone else come up with a Starting 5 to beat that group?
Steph, Jordan, Lebron, Dirk, Shaq. You have spacing, outside shooting, defense, and easy switching on defense. This is not the best 5 ever, just the best 5 to team together.
except he thinks he and Shaq would've been unbeatable whereas in reality it wouldn't have been because he wasn't a great passer nor a great shooter that would profit from Shaqs dishes. You don't get open layups by playing with a center who can't shoot and always is under the basket, because the defense always then converges under the basket
It's so funny to listen to Shaq talk about Rodman. They weren't together very long in LA but Rodman made such a crazy impression on Shaq. Shaq is such a fun loving and jovial guy and didn't appear to always be the most serious when it came to the day to day expectations in the NBA, but he just couldn't wrap his brain around how Rodman took this to an even greater extreme. Shaq was clearly a bigger superstar than Rodman in the basketball world but Rodman was just such a unique personality and cultural phenomenon. Both of them had to drive a lot of coaches crazy, having them on the same team must have been wild. I like that Shaq has respect for Rodman as a player but I don't know if that's the best fit from an offensive spacing perspective to have the two on the floor together at the same time. I feel like if you have Shaq on the floor you're best off to have 4 guys who can shoot the 3 around him (which is why a guy like Horry was such a great fit with him).
@@AR-en6qx Shaq and Rodman individually both still can... just can't have two non-mid/perimeter range shooters together on the court at the same time in today's NBA. You need enough 3 point shooting to keep up. That doesn't mean these guys weren't amazing or dominant at their positions.
Rodman stood in the corner when Pistons and Bulls played 4v5 on offense, and won chips. People forget almost half his rebounds were OffReb, add to that a multiple DPOY mainly for his elite lockdown D who would square up with anyone including Mike Tyson. Wiith Rodman rebounding Shaq coming down hill with Steph, Kobe, and MJ on the break. On a half court set, the opposing team would need mobile elite defenders to contain them, which means today's load-managed betas in the NBA would run out of gas or injured by half time and ask to be traded to super teams.
@@Christopher._M LA Shaq was 2nd in DPOY voting his MVP season. obviously it would be tougher for him defensively in today's nba but I think he'd manage. he'd probably be a bit similar to Brook Lopez in today's NBA

Dennis Rodman was a superstar between Shaq and Kobe because he was already a superstar before Shaq and Kobe won anything. Dennis came to Lakers in 1999(half a season) after 5 championship and multiple rebounding champion before Shaq and Kobe won anything yet. Plus he was more famous than MJ for sometime while even playing with MJ. Shaq always mix before he won/superstar with who he is now(legend)

I didn't watch Penny. But Shaq won with Kobe and Wade. Superstars that played both sides. And were never a mismatch at their position. People rave about the IQ of Kobe and Wade's team style. Kobe's team game was underrated especially in the second half of his career btw. But have we ever heard anyone talk about AI's defense, IQ, or team game? I mean he trended for taking practice days off. AI was a killer in his in right. But to say they'd been winning championships is a stretch. There are a lot of stars who killed their matchups but never won. Look at Paul George right now being boo boo every year in the playoffs since his Pacer days.
