It is not the usual repertoire in which we hear her, but with her genius and great interpretive capacity, She communicates truthfully in verista language.
@@stefanodepeppoFor me, Deutekom shines best as she tosses this off like she was born to sing it. Check out her complete Vespri/Paris performance on private label. I like it better than Callas,but, she's good too.
@laurabellisoprano La Stupenda is Dame Joan Sutherland La Divina is Maria Callas they pretty much own those adjectives in the opera world =) but, you're right, it's a great performance (albeit a bit dark for my tastes)
@@alioffe4321 Callas could NOT sing bupkis after 58-59 Verdi or any other, not to mention she started omitting certain things during the time she had rapid decline starting from 55 which was the last year she was able to sing the way that made her famous. That being said the "thrills" you're talking about were one of the first things that had gone and the "all" gone in the following couple of years. She sang without a proper technic because she did not bother to learn it before losing her voice and because she sang without a proper technic, she made the thrills and most things dazzling not by using a technic but forcing her voice to turn and twist and you can only do that so many times before it catches up with you which it did with her. Callas was a soprano who was trained to be a Wagnerian soprano which established her a rather large voice and she had, as French puts it, the Je ne sais quoi, so her voice fit into the many characters she played and she made the audience HEAR their pain in her voice. That is a God given gift but she was a lousy singer who never bothered to learn a technique. @raigekimaru Lets call her La Sultana :)

I love her artistry as much as that one of Callas’ but there is a major difference: The length of their careers...
The major difference was; Callas could sing what Verdi wrote, trills and all!

Callas career was from 1939 to 1965, 26 years is a long career, specially singing the way Callas did.
@@alioffe4321 so could Gencer…Thanks to Hidalgo
bello!
@sezgin86 Thanks
let her call la assoluta, she is the only one
Know you the recording date?
Who conducts?
Gianandrea Gavazzeni .
