Hello Mr Tom. Yesterday I got some extra sweetness in my life. I lost the second of my two cat babies 8 months ago at 18. Lately I've been thinking I need to make a trip to our local animal shelter and do some adopting. Yesterday I opened my back door on the back deck and found a sweet calico, I'm guessing about 6 months old. I eventually let her in. I asked my neighbor if he knew who she belonged to. He said she was one of two cats that belonged to a man in the apartment building next door. That man is in jail and everything in his apartment went to the curb for disposal, including the cats. We eventually found the other cat around midnight. Two of the sweetest loving babies ever and they are mine❤️. In a few weeks I'll take them to the vet for a check up. They seem very healthy. I'm now the local cat lady again😂❤

That's a wonderful thing you're doing by giving th baby a new home. Kitty will repay you over and over again as you already know being the loving cat mommy you have been in the past. Animals trust and love without conditions attached. Thank you for taking kitty in. As a person you rock!

Last May I lost my sweet cat baby to cancer. He had been my everything sweet for 14 years. About a week later I stepped onto my front porch to grab the mail still rooted deeply in grief over my baby, when I looked to my left and saw a beautiful orange tabby stretched out near the corner of the porch basking in the sun. He didn't run when I took a step toward him but did run when I got a bit closer. The very next day and many more days after he came back to my porch. I began feeding him on the third day. He warmed up to me over the course of a week or so. He's now my sweetness. It's as though he knew I was sad and needed him.

Well, I'm a little late Mr. Tom. I watched your awesome video yesterday, but I'm commenting today. 😁 Well, as ya know, I inherited 2 blueberry bushes from my momma. My brother bought em for momma a number of years back, but he threw away the tags for the bushes, so I got no idea what kind they is. Well, my brother, after momma went 'Home' to be with the Lord, he didn't water the bushes nor nothin. So, I started carin for em, and I started just waterin them durin the spring and summer, and noticed they just started takin off and growin all kinds a new branches. Just from me givin em water. And they put out lots a berries ever year.😊 then, I got red raspberry canes , and I don't do nothin to em, but just give em plenty a water when it's needed, and they put out just tons a berries ever year. My daddy planted them raspberry plants years and years ago, and they just been thrivin ever since. We used to have a nice big plum tree in the back yard, had dark red leaves, and in the springtime, put out the prettiest pink blossoms, and had small, dark red plums that was nice and sweet. The birds liked em too. 😁 My daddy planted that tree, and it grew big and tall. Well, sadly, just shortly after daddy died, a storm came, and the tree fell over. So no more plums. Many years ago, my daddy thought he might try and plant some Logan berries in the garden. Well, he did, and they did good for a long time; and then somethin sweet happened; the Loganberries and them raspberries got together and they had em a baby; yep, up popped some new berries, and they wasn't Loganberry, and they wasn't Raspberry, but they was a combo of both! 😊 So, I started callin em 'Razzloberries'. And they was big like a loganberry, but had a combination of flavor like both, and they was the sweetest berries I'd ever tasted. Well, my brother Kevin, 🤨 he decided he was gonna put out weed killer all over the yard with a spreader. Well, yep, he done went and killed the logan berries, and the Razzloberries. That weed killer done burned em and killed em all; wiped em out. So, I just got daddy's raspberries left. But I be thankful for them. Well, that be all I got in the way of fruit. If it weren't for my brother Kevin livin here, I'd plant me all kinds a fruit. I used to have me a nice big strawberry patch in the garden, but Kevin pulled em all up, and threw the plants in the garbage. But, I be thankful for what I do got, the blueberries and daddy's raspberries.😊 Thank ya Mr. Tom for the wonderful video. Sendin you, Gracie, the Kitty Krew, Heathcliff, and Fluffy, love and a big hug.❤🤗

Again, I wish you were my neighbor! When I moved from Central Florida to the N. Florida Panhandle, I planted rabbit eye blue berries, Myer lemons, figs, elder berries, mulberries and black berries that I obtained from local growers. The crazy weather that brought us 100+ degrees for weeks and the arctic blast took them all except for the mulberry trees. I hope to try again when I'm well. Your beautiful fig tree and blue berry bushes are giving me hope!

I have rhubarb, cherry tree, apple trees and a pear tree here in Ontario. I have an eldeberry bush and think I might try planting a blueberry one. We don't spray and yes some of the fruit is buggy but last year we had a huge amount of apples and pears which were good. I froze apple and pear sauce and make all sorts of jams and jellies like pear and apple butter, pear marmalade and apple jelly and apple pie jam. We plant a big garden, this year I may not have as much as will require knee surgery in July. I still go out to plant what I can as I like being outside listening to the birds etc. I never thought I had a green thumb but now I am retired I like watching the plants grow and making things with all the fresh vegetables. Take care of your self and the kitty crew enjoy your videos/

Mr. Tom, my fig tree never has figs. Thank you for the information on growing and maintaining fig trees. I'm going to try your methods. I'll let you know how my fig tree does in the future. I have blueberries as well. Powder blue and some others, I can't remember the names. We planted them years ago. We have wild blueberries also. I live in North Florida. We never had a freeze last year in our area. We have a pumpkin plant that is still growing from last fall. That is a first for our neck of the woods. I'm 68 and would really love to follow closely how you grow your garden. Thank you, Mr. Tom for your channel. I look forward to your videos.

Hi Mr Tom! Your blueberry plants are fantastic! I just planted my first two blueberry plants this year! I’m in SW Idaho. The varieties are Legacy and Bluejay! We had a late frost and lost about 90% of our peaches, pluot and plum! Luckily I still have a few jars of canned peaches left over from last year! Hi Mr. Tom. You have some beautiful blueberry's coming on there. I will definitely be looking forward to you cooking them up. When I moved here to my wonderful property 15 years ago, I was excited to have a garden. I soon planted one along with blueberry bushes, raspberry and blackberry vines artichokes and a nic bay tree. It wasn't long, within 2 years that the dang gophers go each and every plant I put in. One by one, not matter what I did, those nasty rascals got each and everyone of them. It was pure torture. My bay tree grew for 5 years and was a delight, until one day it too fell over limp from the dang gophers. I picked off many a gopher with the pellet gun, but finally gave up after trying every natural non toxic method recommended. Nothing worked. Karla in Cali.

Mr. Tom, would you look at all those blueberries and figs! Where we live in the foggy misty rainy cool south Pacific Northwest most fruit can't be grown or is difficult to grow. Wild blackberries are plentiful but usually really tart and need lots of sweetening. At our grocery stores, most of the fruit is green or not good tasting at all even in the peak season and tomatoes never have any flavor. No kidding! Enjoyed the tour of your yard!

My Brown Turkey Fig tree is in its 2nd year and very bushy, healthy and getting big but no fruits at all so far but we`ve had almost no sun in Louisiana. I planted four Celeste too and one more Brown Turkey this year. I mulch mine with leaves, cardboard and thick grass clippings. I planted dwarf mulberry trees among them to help distract the birds some. But I do have a giant mesh thing to wrap my main fig tree or make mesh bags, etc. I think the mesh is 10 feet wide and 30 feet long.

Hi, Mr. Tom👋 it's a beautiful day in your neighborhood, indeed.
Blueberries 🫐🫐🫐 yummy. Make a great addition to pemmican, too.
I don't have blueberries or figs. Most of my berry additions are from the birds so no variety classification is known.
Hopefully, figs and dates will be brought in by our feathered friends. Lol.
Kitty Krew definitely want to let you know they made it through the storm and check on you while letting you know how glad they are that everyone made it through ok.
Unfortunately, the wild brought privet, aka bird bush, which is highly invasive are trying to take over the yard here. Any part of that plant will root and regrow into full plants. If cut to the ground it sends out underground roots to sprout up through new locations and then regrows from the stubs, too. Sadly, not what i want in my yard.
I do have mulberry, but the privet is trying to kill it. Ugh.
    My rhubarb us struggling again.

I planted a few small varieties of blueberries. Not very productive. Honeyberries are a bigger and taste better to me. Got gooseberries that have about 50 per branch half grown. Got raspberries, blackberries, boysenberries and strawberries. Planted peaches and cherries and fruit cocktail but that seemed to break it's grafts.
Michigan has apple orchards all over near me. I like the hospital surrounded by an orchard. So quiet out there. Had a few trips there. The quiet and fresh air helped me feel better waiting to go home sitting outside even sneaking out in the wheelchair 😂.

Hello Mr. Tom! We have a large Jerusalem Fig tree that was planted by the original owner of our house in 1987. It is massive! Sometimes we get two harvests but have to really watch for ripeness as the birds want to feast. We took a start from one of the new shoots two years ago, used some rooting agent, and planted it. It's doing great here in our south central Texas area. We also grow a thornless blackberry bush that we ordered after seeing it featured on Deep South Homestead a few years back and it's doing great. Two years ago we tried blueberries for our Southern location but even with regular watering the heat was too much last summer and they didn't survive. The main pests we have to deal with are critters and birds getting them at the peak of ripeness. We've tried tulle around the fruit but whatever it getting them doesn't seem to be stopped by it. We also have a plum tree and a peach tree but both last year and this year something has stripped off the fruit when it's about two inches big and not even ripe. Might have to get some trail cams to solve the mystery as the fruit is a good six to seven feet off the ground. Your blueberry bushes look great! How many years old would you estimate they are?

I have a little bush that is not doing well. I need to repot and put out in the sun I think. Maybe the wind? and rain you had. My fig had buds and they are now gone. Figs fruit twice in a year. I have a brown fig down the road I always judge by what is going on with those trees.

We don't have blueberries and i don't think we will be planting any. We do have a good producing fig tree. I don't know the type we bought it from an old man at the flea market. Everyyear we get gallons of figs. We had two nice peach trees that fruited every year but this year borers got in them and killed them. Our citrus hasn't fruited since the big freeze but this year we have a few fruits on our satsuma and a few on our grapefruit so they seem to be making a comeback. We also have a few black berry canes but only one is actually fruiting. I also have had pretty good luck with melons so we get summer fruits.

If indeed they are blueberries, I don't see why you can't eat them.

I planted over a dozen fruit trees this year...mostly dwarf mulberry and figs mix. I`m trying two pineapple guava too on the zones 8b/9a line. I gotta get a few of the right blueberry plants since they require an odd mix for pollination. I was leery about ordering them. I started strawberries too and a bunch of ground cherries.

I love blueberries and they are so good for you. They contain lots of antioxidants. Easy to freeze also so you can enjoy them even in the winter.

I have been watching and enjoying your videos for a while. I am familiar with the area where you live and especially enjoy your rides so I can see familiar scenery and how things have changed. I am interested to know, were you away from the homeplace for some years just before you started to reclaim it?

Mr. Tom I ate figs at a friend's house in Texas. They were soooo good. I have a pear tree I got quite a few the first year then the next I didn't get any
Last year I got several but I think the squirrels got most of them. I would like to have blue berries I'm in Iowa now so I am not sure how they would do up here. I am going to plant peppers and cherry tomatoes. I enjoyed your video and will keep an eye out for dinner stay safe
