Yeah, for talking head corporate videos and for my video podcast. My main camera is Canon 200D and second... iPhone 8 Plus, which is not bad, but much harder to control the colors, white balance etc. Maybe in the future I will buy another 200D body, fortunately they are cheap.
I use a second camera for my video shoots. to sync them in post I use a dog training clicker, and that clips both camera audio making it easy to sync in post.
A second camera is a necessity if you do paid gig...as a B cam or a back up. I currently use a Lumix G9 and a G7 as back up. I'm trying to master my cams as you have mastered the GH3, no more upgrades for me till I've mastered what I own.
My first Lumix was a GH4, loved it and used the crap out of it then got a GH5 for the IBIS. Then got a gh3 as a C cam for weddings, got another GH4 cause it was so cheap, gave the GH3 to my sister and now I'm looking to get either a GH5s or maybe just a GX9 haha. Love these cameras, all of them. Great vid dude
I loved my GH3's when I had them. I discovered that little secret of High iDynamic and High iResolution and OMG was the image quality so good. GH3 is one of those hidden gems kind of camera.
The biggest mistake we make when upgrading is selling our used gear. I have stopped doing this. I will keep my 70D, my EF 50.12. I should not have sold the EF 100mm f2.8 or the 100-400 EF to buy the 50 1.2. The capabilities of a second camera really add to our content. While it is expensive to buy a second camera, keeping old gear, or buy-in other peoples old gear is a good way to do it on the cheap. You mentioned a lot of good points for a second camera...

Nigel, you are 100% correct. You can normally get away with your cell phone bit it is nice to work with the same camera as your b camera. It just makes the color grade and work flow so much easier. Thanks for the advise.

Already had 2 GH3's and they're awesome. But just got a great deal on a GX7 and LOVE it, man! The GX7 is fully functional with Wifibooth app, Gmonitor app, whereas the GH3's are not. GX7 makes a great small compliment to the GH3 in the field. Just gotta add something like Rode Go for audio.

It does make a lot of sense to have at least 2 cameras for switching shooting angles, but not necessary the same expensive camera if you already have one, so yeah you're right

I have a g85, and I think I should probably build up my collection of lenses, lights, rigging, and other accessories before I buy a second camera...unless I cave and buy another camera ;)

I'm thinking of getting a GH3 as a second camera for my GH5 when I record live streams at 25fps. I wanted to double-check a few things. Does it have focus peaking and what colour profiles are there on it?
I would like have a Panasonic Gh3 but I live in Brazil, so is complicated buy a Gh3 becase the Panasonic cameras isn't popular here and don't many offers in used marker

@@MikaelJohnHeck since im in the apple ecosystem, I would probably go with another macbook pro, maybe a refurbished one to save some money and I'd just get as much of everything as I could, preferably at least 16gb of ram and the fastest processor available. an SSD for my main drive is a must but if it wasn't the highest capacity I wouldn't mind because I use a lot of external storage anyway. And yes, I know Tim from Skatechurch, I've been volunteering there for about 12 years now and I'm the resident video guy on staff, so I shoot a lot of promotional content for them.

Make sure the firmware versions are fully updated and match on both cameras as well. That's an easily overlooked step.

when shooting indoors I typically set it to 3200k and outside to 5600k and that typically gets me in the ballpark.
