I actually loved the green couches. They were such an anchor for the space. I actually find curated rooms much more appealing. When everything is from a certain time period, it just does not have personality to me. Its collected rooms that have the charm factor. Balsam and Fraser Fir are also my favorite holiday scents. I can burn them anytime of the year, because I love it so much. Ivy's room is my favorite! The green walls, the antique headboard, the gallery wall of gorgeous artwork and her glowing little lamp!!! Be still my heart! To be a child and sleep in this cozy space would be my dream come true. The wreath in the bed was icing on the cake!
The bedding looks so pretty - and there is definitely nothing wrong with keeping the decor simple. Sometimes that makes a greater statement than hundreds of vintage santa mugs :)
Same thought.. I decorate but in a simple way.. it makes more of a refined statement.. and I don't dread putting things up or taking it all down.. it's just easier for me to deal with and I enjoy the process a whole lot more.. I like little vignettes throughout the house.. a few statements.. but more whispers of Christmas not flamboyantly in your face..
The bows and garland draped on your bed just adds a nice touch of Christmas to the room. The wreath hanging on the wood bed frame and the quilt on that bed is beautiful. 🎄❤️
Just get some big rings and some hooks that go with them. That will add some length. I haven’t even started decorating yet. I probably will after this week. And when I get all my Christmas totes out of our shed. Then the house will be a mess until I’m done. I have two big long green and red totes and a small one or two. Plus the tree, is in a bag, I think. Now I have a cabinet where I put the tree. So I either have to make a spot in the office, or put it in the hallway. I’m not sure where it will go.
It is.a real pity that you got rid of the green couches. They were so special. Your linen couches will look better if you change the colour on the wall behind.
I agree that bright red wouldn't go with your current colors and furnishings, but a maroon or burgundy would. That would give you touches of Christmassy color. Your home is so warm, beautiful, and comforting!
I have to tell you that I love watching your videos. You have a wonderful attitude and your curtains in the living room look beautiful, I’d keep them. Please don’t berate yourself, if you make a mistake, we all make mistakes, that’s what makes us human!
I really like the old curtains, I prefer the way they frame the window. Christmas décor doesn't have to be full on, it can be really simple and still look lovely. Benita Larsson has a Scandinavian minimalist style and I watched her Christmas decorating vid last night and she keeps it as simple as you can get and it looks really good. I think there can be too much pressure to decorate, my thoughts are do what you enjoy and leave the rest. xx
You crack me up standing on your bed. I would toss the sheet, lose my balance and fall to the floor. Love your videos. Always look forward to seeing you.
If you add about a cup of white vinegar into your bottle of detergent, it does so much for your laundry. Whitens whites and takes out smells, softens all your clothes. Just add it in and shake. You always want to wash everything from a goodwill or second hand store b/c you have no idea what kind of ick it goes through and sits in, not to mention bed bug infestations. Your plaid throw on the back of your couch might look adorable folded over just the middle cushion maybe? Your home is so beautiful.
Love the linen. Your two beds look warm and cozy. Adorable seeing Ivy excited about her new big girl bed. So happy you have decided to keep the lighter couches in the LR and can’t wait to see the newly painted wainscotting in the new year. Your mantle looks great Kristen and love all your decor choices.
I love the little German “smoker” on your mantle. We have one, also- he’s a butcher with a tray of sausages & a hog’s head. It was a gift from the dad of a German exchange student who lived with us several months about 23 years ago. If you put a cone of incense inside him, smoke comes from his mouth.
Kristen your Christmas bedrooms and living room are beautiful, you always do a great job decorating. You are very talented, and I loved the gold velvet drapes, but those plaid ones are perfect for your room. Hugs.
***to get rid of the thrift store smell in your couch blanket, put some dryer sheets between the blanket and the couch. It will do wonders to improve the scent. I have also treated the smell in old books the same way...tuck some dryer sheets between the pages, then place the book in a Ziploc bag for a couple weeks.
I'm feeling the same thing this year. I've been using the same decorations for 12 years and I'm ready to just use some fresh greens and red ribbon. I'm finding I like simple decorating the best. Love your videos!
I have a hard time decorating for Christmas, it's very overwhelming. You dig and carry all these bins and boxes and have to remove all your live plants to put up all this fake greenery and try and make it work and somehow magical lol...I mean where do you start, where does it end?? I have to breathe and remember to keep it simple! Don't over do it, that's not what it's about. You are doing great! Just remove anything that just doesn't sit well with you, not everything needs a Christmas splash. ❤
Girl I feel you. Dragging down the boxes out of my attic and putting Fall decor away. It’s exhausting! Take your time. I love all your quilts, wish I was lucky enough to find one.
I have been going through the same this year. I left bins and bins full of Christmas decor in the attic because i wanted to simplify. This year I'm going for a more natural, simple, almost Little Women Christmas.
@@KristenHoffman and just as I said that, my 16 year old said, "we should put up some more decorations! I feel like we used to have more. " 🤔 So, now I'm torn because childhood is so fleeting. But, I'm also recovering from surgery. Kids! 🤨
I had to laugh when you said you wanted to throw all your Christmas decorations away and start over. Me too. I did take 6 big boxes to Goodwill, but I still have 60! Don’t judge, I’m old and have been collecting for decades. However, now I am liking trees, wreaths, garlands, pillows and candles. I’m tired of cutesy and have gravitated toward simple and elegant. So I did add in velvet this year.
Lovely! That bedding is gorgeous. I've pulled decorating way back.. This year its lights and candles, front door decor with greenery and magnolia branches, music of course, baking and holiday movies. I'm sure I'll embellish as I get closer to Christmas but for now, that's it. Just don't have the energy.
I emphasized nativity scenes this year I made one the focus of our main rooms decor. We got a nice leather loveseat from.a consignment store in my living room we put the tree in there this year It is so much cozier. Love love Ivys hair She is so cute
Your bedding is beautiful! Maybe for the short curtains you can add a color block of fabric on the bottom with an existing color from the plaid. If you end up doing that, I would wash them beforehand in case they shrink (happened to me before).
I prefer the brown velvet curtains in the living room, I think in time you will regret not sending the short curtains back and ordering the longer ones. I’ve made that mistake myself and every time I looked at them I regretted not returning them for the longer panels. Everything looks very pretty and festive.
Hope you’re feeling better soon. I love the changes. Love the paint color you picked outfit your living room. Enjoy your Christmas season, but get some rest. Love your channel!
The bedding is so pretty. I think alot of folks want to simplify Christmas decor this year. I know at 64 years old I do and I will. I am also not into the bright red Christmas either. I want to tome mine all down a notch. Love your videos..always. Keep being you. 😊
Nice decor. I would not get rid of much because I’ve done that with much regret in that in the coming years I’ve wanted the sparkly look of Christmas. Then I waiver in very neutral and minimal look.
Hi Kristin. New to your channel and I absolutely love it. What a beautiful home and I love the thrifting aspect. I love to shop at thrift stores and resale shops. I love how down to earth you are in your videos and found so much of myself in them. I love Jesus and so blessed to watch and follow others that do as well. So thank you for sharing your beautiful home. Looking forward to catching up on your videos and new ones to come. God bless😇
You’re doing great! I’m learning to embrace imperfection and I think the Lord is teaching me to keep a proper perspective- eyes on Him. So your simple decorating touches are beautiful and I loved seeing the excitement of your girls decorating your tree! The raisin sheets look perfect! I’m looking for plum/eggplant color sheets- a color I see in my 1940s barkcloth curtains. I love muted walls and pops of color in fabrics! Merry Christmas!
I couldn’t agree with you more on simplifying Christmas decor. I too am thinking of letting go of the majority of mine. Your home is looking absolutely beautiful and can’t wait to see the rest.
Love what you’ve done so far. I’m finally finished decorating our home inside and out. It took us 3 days. The part we tackled today was our Dept 56 Dickens Village. It’s huge and we haven’t put it up for a few years, but kids and grandkids begged us.
Love the simplicity 👍 with as busy as life gets we simplified as well and we have a puppy running everywhere too so we just did our 4ft tree on top of a table 👍 I have garlands that looks similar to the one on your bed and when I changed my look I actually use them outside now 👍
I love the neutral couches. I’m also simplifying my Christmas decor this year. I understand how you feel about wanting to get rid of all your decor and get new stuff. I’m just doing a lot of greenery and silver with lights. Not any color so it’s more calming. My new goal for 2024 is to have a more simplified house and life❤
Kristen , I love the way you style your home , because what you choose creates a home , not a showroom . Your channel is real life , which is relatable . Any announcements in the wings my tired friend ? Thanks for explaining what happened to the green furniture . Have a great week .💕🎶🎶
Love the new bed linens. I also like how you decorate the beds for Christmas! Your style is so warm and cozy. Beautiful job. Just take your time and tackle it in stages. I enjoy coming along! 🎄🎀🎄
You did a lot ! I always get exhausted when I decorate for Christmas. I love what you have done. I wish I could change up my colors but. I have to much and it would take to much money to start a new trend. I like the couches. They can blend with anything. It is got your girls can help with some things. Remember! stop and take a breather. Take care. Joyce
Hi Kristen. I love your new striped bedding. I went on the site but I could not afford them. I decided to search Walmart and they had something so similar. Can’t wait for them to come so i can create the same look. Thanks for sharing your new look.
You could buy curtain ring clips to lengthen the curtains hopefully just enough to make them work! Thank you for all of the work you put into your videos.
Your simple decor looks lovely. The garland on your bed is beautiful and classic. It’s fun to change up Christmas decor and give your home a new look. Can’t wait to see the next video. And your new curtains will look great hung on rings we won’t tell anyone it wasn’t your first plan!
The way I start Christmas decorating is: Week 1 of Advent: 1) All the first floor window candles (LR, DR, kitchen, foyer) 2) Decorating the dining room chandelier with garland and ribbons 3) Adding the Advent wreath to the dining room table, along with the manger with just the cow figure 4) Decorating the foyer stair railing 5) Putting up door wreaths Week 2 of Advent: 1) Putting up the Christmas tree in the foyer 2) Adding Mary, Joseph & donkey figures to the manger scene 3) Adding 2nd floor window candles to the bedrooms 4) Decorating the bedrooms Week 3 of Advent: 1) Add any other trees I’m putting up in other rooms 2) Add the angel, shepherd and sheep to the nativity 3) Decorate the bathroom sconces with garland & ribbon and add any other bathroom Christmas decor Week 4 of Advent: 1) Add the wise men and camels to nativity 2) Add any additional kitchen Christmas decor Christmas Eve: 1) Add Baby Jesus to the nativity
I love how week by week you prepare for the Nativity of Jesus! You actually prepare during Advent, as we should, to celebrate Christmas. So many people put Christmas away on Dec. 26th when Christmas is just beginning!
I love how you decorate your home❤, I have always been a fan of the linen couches I did not like the green ones. Your home speaks your design continue to do you!!!!!. I love your home❤❤❤❤
Hi Kristen. I really like your tree. Looks so pretty. Your bedding is beautiful. I love the wedding ring quilt. The stain glass in your window is just so lovely. I love stain glass. I think the curtains look good and so does your living room. Sometimes less is more. Loving all your pillows. Your home is just so warm and cozy. I love all your sweet decor pieces. Thanks for bringing us along. Hipe you feel better very soon. Take Care. God Bless You and Your Family. Take Care.
I love your scaled down style this year. I, too, have felt the same way, and I am also making it simpler. Your bedding is so pretty, too. I need to buy a Christmacy looking quilt.
Hi Kristen! Everything you’re doing on your house looks so beautiful. I must tell you, though I love the look of the green couches over the beige ones. They were absolutely stunning and brought life into your living room.. Everyone is doing beige, beige, beige and it was just so nice to see the pop of color. I do love the idea of painting the trim work to bring in color. It’s going to look beautiful!😊
I love Fraser fir too. My all time fave Christmas candle is under the Christmas tree from bath & body works. It’s like the fir scent but mix in a little sweetness. It’s just soooo good
Oh my goodness Kristen I just love your garland. It’s so beautiful and the new curtains are perfect. 👍 Kristen you have nailed the primitive look. You are doing a wonderful job with your beautiful home. Blessings to all of your beautiful family. ❤
Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us! Have I ever told you that I love the composition of pictures in Ivy's green room? Wish I'd thought of that! I have a feeling your going to send the short curtains back... (smile). Praying for You to feel better. Merry Christmas and continued Blessings!
Your house is beautiful.. I wasn’t feeling it this year either and simplified my decor. Some years I do this and it’s ok. Love that you can show us this - Real Life. It’s beautiful!
Don't settle for the short curtains. You will regret it. Just send them back and get the proper length if you plan on keeping them long term.

None of us are perfect. You're a beautiful person with a beautiful family. Keep up the good work! Love your videos!
Thank you so much!
The wonderful thing about lots of lights is they warm up the midwest long and dark winters. They make every space feel cozy and intimate.
You're so fortunate to have those beautiful stained glass windows in your house.
I agree that bright red wouldn't go with your current colors and furnishings, but a maroon or burgundy would. That would give you touches of Christmassy color. Your home is so warm, beautiful, and comforting!
You do such a great job decorating and with your videos. Your smile lights up the room. Love your channel Kristin. Many blessings 🌲
Oh wow yeah that looks great you can't tell with the end tables in front of the curtains 👍

Looks great but the blue lamp doesn't really go with other colors in the room. Maybe a brass lamp instead?
The bedding is just beautiful. And the quilt looks just gorgeous with it...
Great job...
Many Blessings

Oh my the short curtains would drive me insane but if it works for you go for it
You can always add some material in one of the medium tone colors in the curtains to the bottom of your curtains.
You could lengthen the cutains by sewing a complimentary panel to the bottom
You said something about never doing anything right but everything you do looks beautiful!

Love Frasier Fir scented candles as well. We just bought a Wood Wick one on sale at Cracker Barrel, Thanksgiving Day.
The bedding is beautiful! Great choices! Your home is lovely Kristen! Thank you for sharing!
I baked my own oranges for my tree and mantle this year! I LOVE it! If you ass some orange essential oils in them they smell so so good! 🍊

If you use ¼ to ½ cup per wash of vinegar it helps get rid of unwanted smells. Hope that helps.
Aww.. I loved your decor last year. Red and green is classic. You do you.
Maybe you could just use a different shade of red, such as a burgundy.
I love your adding beautiful colors into your beautiful home 👏🥰☮️💯🐾great job ❤
I LOVE THE ORIGINAL CURTAINS .. HAVENT SEEN NEW ONES YET LOL
Love the simplicity 👍 with as busy as life gets we simplified as well and we have a puppy running everywhere too so we just did our 4ft tree on top of a table 👍 I have garlands that looks similar to the one on your bed and when I changed my look I actually use them outside now 👍
Everything looks so pretty you can't even notice the curtains they look fine 😊
For your curtains just sew some material to the length, a solid color . I think that will look great !!!
I love the neutral couches.
I’m also simplifying my Christmas decor this year.
I understand how you feel about wanting to get rid of all your decor and get new stuff.

I have the ones from Walmart that are similar. I love them. They are so soft.
What brand is the Walmart version?
You could buy curtain ring clips to lengthen the curtains hopefully just enough to make them work! Thank you for all of the work you put into your videos.

Love how you decorated your home is so cosy xx
The way I start Christmas decorating is:
Week 1 of Advent:
1) All the first floor window candles (LR, DR, kitchen, foyer)
2) Decorating the dining room chandelier with garland and ribbons
3) Adding the Advent wreath to the dining room table, along with the manger with just the cow figure
4) Decorating the foyer stair railing
5) Putting up door wreaths
Week 2 of Advent:
1) Putting up the Christmas tree in the foyer
2) Adding Mary, Joseph & donkey figures to the manger scene
3) Adding 2nd floor window candles to the bedrooms
4) Decorating the bedrooms
Week 3 of Advent:
1) Add any other trees I’m putting up in other rooms
2) Add the angel, shepherd and sheep to the nativity
3) Decorate the bathroom sconces with garland & ribbon and add any other bathroom Christmas decor
Week 4 of Advent:
1) Add the wise men and camels to nativity
2) Add any additional kitchen Christmas decor
Christmas Eve:
1) Add Baby Jesus to the nativity
Worn out!
I love how week by week you prepare for the Nativity of Jesus! You actually prepare during Advent, as we should, to celebrate Christmas. So many people put Christmas away on Dec. 26th when Christmas is just beginning!

Another inspiration to us all who follow you and your 12 days of Christmas series 🎄 🎅🏻🧑🎄 ❤can’t wait to watch your next one
Looking so good!!
Thank you!!
How can there be so much beauty in just one person??? Your hair has grown a lot, and the color is great... the house is as always impeccable!!
It’s ok to do Simple but it looks beautiful ❤
It’s just soooo good
Love the bedding combo! It’s perfection ❤

You have sach beautiful collection of quilts.
Your house is beautiful.. I wasn’t feeling it this year either and simplified my decor. Some years I do this and it’s ok. Love that you can show us this - Real Life. It’s beautiful!
