Most people reach the top of the mountain and instantly forget the trials and heartache that got them there. For some out there, a secondhand, waterlogged pond prowler will be the pinnacle of their boating experience and they know it. With your success you have lost your humility. You are whining about not wanting to do these builds even though you know that there is a enormous demand. You won't whine when that money hits the bank. Take a step back and acknowledge the unseen, and unknowable, audience members. It's just an observation. Take it or leave it.
I have the 8.5' Sun Dolphin, 2.5hp Suzuki 4 stroke on the back, Minn Kota Endura Max 45lb on the front, 4 rod holders, 7" Garmin with down and side scan, nav lights and spot lights, yoga mat flooring, front and rear anchors, bilge pump, and an upgraded seat. It rides on a 4x8 Harbor Freight Trailer with a flat deck and guide ons. It is a fun little boat to go screaming across the lake at 5mph. Just watch out for wake boats
I have had one for three years and there’s plenty of TH-cam videos on how to modify a pelican 10e they are a lot better than y’all r giving them credit for
pelican uses ram X… Ram X was designed by Coleman It’s high molecular weight Polyethylene with cross-linking when pelican took over And bought out the company and the technology and process they wanted to lighten the weight but strengthen the boat so they added ram X premium which is twin sheet forming technology two thinner sheets for lighter weight but with even more cross-linking it’s incredibly tough stuff and has got a ton of UV stabilizers in it unfortunately I wish people would do more research into this Because it’s great stuff and very affordable
I had a little Pond Prowler 8 that I would throw in the back of my truck and drive from Ohio to Orlando and fish all the lakes around there. I am 5-11 240 and my brother is 6-5 260 and we fished out of it once covering about 5 miles of shoreline with a 30lb thrust TM and a 3hp gas motor. (Maybe we were overloaded 🤷🏻♂️). It worked great for just me. Top speed was 5 mph with the 3 hp when I was alone.
@5:15 if you look at the sides of the center there is a perfect ledge to work with. you could flat deck it putting compartments in the center section and a seat pedestal just aft of center. battery and trolling motor maybe a small bait cooler. all that could be drop in/removable
Yup! I proudly own one! Same one! Wrote in previously (Out of curiosity to Tiny Boat Nation) about the possibilities of upgrade for this thing.) I have taken mine where no bass fisherman has ever gone is S. Florida now in NW Arkansas and thing straight out get you to big fish. Very, very anxious to see how this one turns out. Keep up the great work Tiny Boat Nation!
I'd really like to see you do a foam & fiberglass boat, a man with your talent could really come up with something special I've built one and it really wasn't hard I believe that it is a true kayak killer it can't fit 10 rods like a bass boat but it can take a 15hp motor and an electric motor and can also go on the roof of a car I know if you attempted it, it would end up being pretty awesome hopefully you will give it a go in the future
With UV stabilizers plastic is just fine especially if it’s black and has lots of carbon in a plastic high density polyethylene stands up to the sun just fine
Hey Mike, you got this brotha!!! I’m in the process of modding a Pelican Predator 10.3 and you are right these plastic pontoon boats are not exactly 8ft. Or 10.3 or whatever Pelican claims the lengths are. I’ve been working on mine for a few months now on my spare time. I can’t wait to see the finished product. I follow the entire crew and learned a lot from all of you. Built my own recirc live well, learned how to wire, etc. VERY INSPIRING!! You really have to get TBN out here in So-Cal. My next project is a aluminum 15ft Gregor MX-510 v hull. I buy all my materials from TBN. Tight lines!!! Bass_Cholo
I'd like to see you cut a storage box, for fishing rods, a paddle, life jacket, and battery, in one pontoon and a live well in the other pontoon. You know like, all plastic welded, pour foamed, Bilge pumps, lights, dry storage, USB outlet, gas outboard, and the trolling motor, it came with.
I highly suggest taking a look at a plastic boat called a Twin Troller. It has 2 trolling motors mounted INSIDE the boats hull. It's only 10 ft but I would love to see if your capable of building this style boat with a larger aluminum boat rather than a 10 ft plastic. P.s. once the trolling motors start running inside the hull it creates a suction that actually adds stability. Really creative boat but it's a little on the small side. Please get back to me with your thoughts!
Love to see the build your own boat. Im thinking totes or 5 gallon buckets filled with pour foam held together with a light aluminum frame, hydroturf deck, space for battery with basic electrical system like only some lights. Love the builds and cant wait for more on the budget build! Also saw the Ayo, Lojo and Norm video. love those guys
I have barely any interest in fishing at all but just got a Prowler 8 to use as a "tender" for a bigger boat. putting in a 5HP Haswing and modding it for helm steering because I am incredibly extra about everything all the time 😁😁
I have a Sun Dolphin American 12, not the Pro unfortunately, but it's a great lil pond, reservoir, edge of the lake hopper. It works great and I'm about to do some upgrading on it, with some added "deck" space
Brotha I got teo for you if you really want to do the plastic boat build. Bost are from sun dolphin. The first is the 120 jon and the other is the 120 pro. Well within budget tp get both and do different mods for. If you do anymore plastic boat builds then get those two and maybe down the line look at nucanoe for a real kayak custom build. Now thinking about it you have three projects you can do for plastic that are at least 12 ft. Make it happen brotha.
Drills some holes and place some pcv tubing sticking out all over it randomly. Place two large boulders in it. Drag it out at night and unload a 45 into it and turn it into a fish attractant. It will become your own little secret fishing hole.. LOL I'd probably last maybee two hours with my back and knees fishing in that thing at the most. Hell the Yak Killer I could probabaly get 6 hours of fishing in before my back gave out..
Not if it has UV stabilizers in a plastic is just fine I wish people would do more research if it has carbon in it it’s going to do just fine ram X it’s ultra molecular weight Polyethylene that’s cross-link it’s incredibly tough stuff you don’t even know what you’re talking about
@@shanepeter1616 Before you laugh why don’t you look in the cross-linked high density polyethylene or UV stabilized high density polyethylene laugh all you want for being 48 years old you sure are not that wise
@@MudMotorsMax you weren't hugged enough as a child were you?! Lol...out the absolute best plastics manufactured anywhere in the world here beside an aluminum hull, and see which is in better shape in a year, 2 years, 10 years, etc. In this heat, plastic loses EVERY time and it isn't close. Get a hug, and probably a refund on your molecular engineering degree.
I wouldn’t mind a 1042 but that size is so hard to find. He did a 1232 on the yak killer. We have kids only pond bass tournaments here and kids can afford the plastic boat’s. I think it’s a great idea but I don’t know what Mike can do that hasn’t already been done.
I want to see this go up Topock and fish out of there! But you have to launch from site 6! Now thats a epic challenge! I'm down ill go with you! Im in Blythe!

Came here to say exactly this. Could add built in rod storage doors where he threw that 7' rod. Lots of options with that boat.

over ten times the cost of this but still pretty intriguing. good technical fundamentals from what I can tell.
What about using the diy pontoons to extend a front deck on that tiny pond prowler. Make a totally original fully decked 12 ft plastic boat?!?
Idk if I can pull that off…
I just go a pond tune plastic boat can I add spray foam to make it have better weight limit
No, nothing can help that boat lol. Just use it as is

TBNation.net. we sell them there!

What do you use to paint an aluminum boat ?
Total boat wet edge and epoxy primer
Add a trolling motor, some storage, and a deck with butt seat.
Pond prowler

Sell it and buy a bass hunter, the roto molding is so much tougher
lol.. yea seen that homedepot video with ayo and lojo
Why don’t you get a twin troller x10
