PEDESTRIANS HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY!!!!!!!! Especially if they are in the walkway and had a walk signal. That’s the law! A left on green requires you to yield and especially to a pedestrian unless it’s a protected left with a green left arrow but even still….THE PEDESTRIAN HAS THE RIGHT OF Way… you don’t get to run humans over just because it’s your turn to go as the driver🤦🏾♀️
@@pariahnation1284 NO! Look before you leap. Bus drivers are human. Pedestrians should also use common sense ... Right of way or not. You mean to tell me if you're about to cross the street with the right of way & you see a vehicle that's appears not to be stopping, you're still gonna cross anyway? 😒

The person killed was a Nigerian young lady on her way to work. She was suppose to do her introduction this June 6th and get married in August. So sad her life was cut short. Only if you know what her family and friends are going through right now. I was looking forward to the day I see you again but now that will never happen. Am deeply and sincerely going to miss you my old friend. (dami matuluko). I will for ever hold on to the memories growing up with you. I pray this case is not swept under the rug and you get justice. 😢
This is so sad. Those bus drivers are so disrespectful on the streets. They drive in both lanes and in such a hurry to turn. I had a bus driver blow the horn at me to turn left but he didn’t see there were pedestrians walking so I was waiting for them to walk completely across the street.they are ruthless. Rest in peace, praying for her family 🕊️😪
I thought it was a woman driver? Second, REGARDLESS if you have the right-of-way…. PLEASE (for you and your family’s safety and sake), get out of your phone and PAY ATTENTION!!!
If the light is a green ball that means left turning yield. If they have a green arrow with the green ball then they have protected right of way in going straight and left turn. If the light has a red dot but green arrow, both directions’ left turns have the protected right of way but neither can go straight.
@@Calinotch06 not all intersections let you yield to oncoming traffic and turn left though. Also of course if cross traffic has the green light you can’t yield and go even if it’s clear. In San Francisco don’t they have this at some intersections? Also, many intersections are taking away this doghouse signal and putting a flashing yellow arrow instead for yielding. And the flashing yellow arrow doesn’t tell you anything about the color of the light for going straight unlike the doghouse. I’m in Houston but I think this rule applies to almost the entire USA.
Sad. Bus driver obviously wasn't looking in front of them or they would have seen that lady. As others have said in these comments, don't trust walk signals. Most of these drivers are not looking out for pedestrians. I have nearly been run over many times.
Majoity of those driver's are terrible drivers, and have criminal records! Just like the 82 line they drive over both sides of the lanes on Montrose, Westheimer Rd..... Poor lady condolences to her family.
If the lanes are small how do you expect a bus not to take both lanes!!! A lot of ppl in houston just don’t like big vehicles because 9 times out of 10 Houston drivers are in a rush to go Nowhere!! There are a lot more accidents when it comes to cars vs buses!
That's nothing new, many of these drivers run through red lights from miles away, in intersections heavy with car and pedestrian traffic. Some of them use the size of the bus to bully other drivers trying to merge into their lane, they also cut across 3 lanes with no turn signal in order to make a dangerous turn if they're about to miss their exit.If you ever find yourself walking in downtown, keep your eyes on your surroundings at all times, do not assume other drivers are aware of your presence and your safety, because they're not, they're too distracted and in a hurry to give a damn about you,red or green means nothing to some people.
Pedestrians run more red lights than cars though. I have seen drivers stop at a red light and wait until it’s green. I don’t see pedestrians actually wait for their walk signal.

This is not the first time a person was hit by a bus in downtown Houston. Be safe, that's all I can say

When driving don’t trust green light since other drivers may pass the red lights and don’t trust the white man cross walk signs
Yes,don't trust sign .Some drivers don't follow signs.Almost happened to me.Driver dont stop.

Sounds like the driver turned left on a red light?!
Had a green light but the pedestrian also had a sign to cross. Shitty signals in the city.
