There was another you tuber who's wife died suddenly and left him with several children. She had a whole bunch of family memories recorded on youtube as well as a bunch of instructional videos about how she did things around the home to keep it running smoothly. Since her passing, it's been a major help to her husband as he learned how things were done. Making videos of things you learned from Grammy or anybody who has taught you homemaking or ladylike wisdom is a great idea. A wonderful way to 'pay it forward' and honor Grammy legacy. 😊🤗😍
I'm so sorry to hear about your grandma. Xx I'm so happy to learn more about lady like living as I've never had a parent or elder to teach these things. I have always been inspired and loved feminine attire and grace. I'm from a family of brothers and now a mother of 4boys. So bless that my husband loves when I decorate and bring the lady like living in our home May God bless xxx Natasha🌸
For those of us who learned to do laundry with a new fangled wringer washer, an upgrade from a washboard and galvanized tub, comingling husband's clothes with your own was unthinkable since wash water was used for more than one load (Ewwww!) When mom did laundry there was an order of cleanest dirty aka whites (all sheets were white back in the day, bath towels, dish towels, etc.), white anything were first in the wash water, then mom's dresses and children's school dresses, then husband's dress clothes. Then the dirtiest -- my dad's work clothes. Everything washed was put through the wringer and then they went into a galvanized tub until you could drain the washer and add clean rinse water. Rinse water was used more than once also, but would be changed at least twice since bluing was added to the rinse water for whites. Change the water and then rinse mom's dresses, school clothes, and dad's dress clothes. Last was dad's work clothes, then the water was changed again and the work clothes got a second rinse. Everything went through the wringer again then mom would haul all the wet clothes to the clothes line to hang dry. Needless to say even though I have a modern washer and dryer my washing habits mirror the lessons learned from my mom, but I have a washboard hanging on my laundry room wall to remind me how easy laundry is to do with modern conveniences.
We still hand wash and yes mixing clothes can be a disaster. We don't use a washboard though. I've used a washing machine once but it was in a foreign language😂😂 .
Hi Nikki, I enjoyed this chat. I love The Laundress too. I also like Hiketron Mambo Man and Paradise. You are so right about routines providing comfort and structure in times of sadness too. Continued condolences for you and your family. Love, Jennifer
Nikki...somehow I missed the news of your grandmother’s passing. I’m so very sorry for your loss! I know how close you all are. I hope your grandfather is managing alright. He must miss her so much! Thank you for another lovely video! Great laundry tips and also good to be reminded of the purpose and pleasure of routines. Take care xoxo 😊
I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother. You gave her the love she needed til the end. I still have dreams of my grandmother every once in a while. I found out last week that I will be a grandmother in July. A true answer to our prayers.
Hi Nikki. I enjoyed this so much! Everything you said is so true! So very sorry for the loss of your grammy. I remember how sad I was when I lost my grandmother many years ago. Hope you have a wonderful and blessed week...
I'm very sorry for the loss of your grandmother! My condolences. I also never comment on videos but just wanted to say...I seriously don't know what it is about you, but watching your videos has just helped me to get through a lot lately. You're doing something special, even if you don't realize it. I bet your grandmother was so INCREDIBLY proud of you ❤
You are so right about routines, Nikki. I've found that good habits & routines get me through hard times because they are not dependent on motivation or feelings. They are automatic, but the daily routines can be an instrumental tool in persevering until things get better. Then, I don't have an overwhelming amount of "catching up" to do.
Dear Nikki, I’m so sorry to learn about losing your Grandmother. I have a deep respect for the way you have cared for her and your family, and draw inspiration from you constantly. Sending a prayer for your Grammy and your family.
My deep condolescence for the passing of your Grammy. May her soul rest in peace with Our Lord. Thank you for keep inspiring us to make the everyday beautiful. 🙏😘
Was overjoyed to see your video notification this morning, dear Nikki. Thank you for making your videos a peaceful little oasis where we can all take a deep breath and enjoy beauty and 'ladylike living' together. You bring such calm and grace to my day - thank you so much for that! God love you!
Very enjoyable listening to your laundry routine, Nikki. You look so lovely in that dress. Just watching you place all your pretty clothing on hangers is so soothing. Femininity accompanies your household chores.
Nikki, The Laundress items makes a thoughtful gift; I’m so happy for you! I’ve had to be cautious of detergent brands as they have hormone disrupters sadly, especially softeners. I L❤️VE zippered laundry bags and use them for all delicates and zippered items which can snag fabrics. Beautiful video today: thank you!! Julie 🌷
I never got the chance to talk about all things household with my grandma. She passed away in my first year of marriage and I was never interested in these things before that. I regret it deeply. Your Ladylike series based of your grammy's inspiration sounds exactly what I'd like to hear! Maybe meal planning and shopping? Grooming while on a budget? How did they do it, our grandmothers? How did they manage to stay strong and not get a burn out? I wish i asked that...
I love doing laundry. I wash my delicates and nicer clothes seperately. I also use laundry bags for anything I don't want to snag. After losing my mama in 2020 who was so very dear to me, it was such a challenge to keep routines but I did it anyways and it did feel better to do so. Oh! how I wish we lived in the same city so we can meet up!! Thank you for all the suggestions in your vidoes! I have adopted many of them and I'm ALWAYS inspired by you and your grammy!! You and your family have been in my prayers. 💜
I am so sorry for your loss. When I lost my grandfather a couple years ago my heart was broken. Our bond was unique and even today I still miss our talks over the phone. I hope that the memories you have of her make you smile and help you get through this time. Sending you and your family a lot of love Nikki.
Good to see you Nikki🙂Glad you found The Laundress. They are a bit more costly up front but in the long run, they are cost efficient. Their bleach alternative is superb. I like their cleaning vinegar and stain solution. I like everything. Gwen and Lindsey really taught me how to properly care for my garments. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do. If for some reason I run out of my Laundress products, I opt for Woolite for delicates and Gain for every thing else 💕🌷
Routine is the only thing that makes me feel like I am in control...so to be on top of things keeps you feeling together ...and you are so right it does get you through difficult times! Thank you for sharing...It was a vid that I could relate to.
Hello Nikki im so into trying to improve my ladylike ways and learning each day on home eg laundry etc. Lets continue chatting. Wonderful video this week.💃
That is so true, Lord that is soooo true😂 I have done that chap stick thing and debit cards over and over . I’m going to implement what I learned today with you❤️
Hello Nikki. I am so sorry to hear about your Grammy’s loss. I lost my last grandparent (my dad’s mum) 4 years ago and I still miss her terribly. I edited to add that if you are worried about colours bleeding into other clothes you can use Colour Catcher sheets which work really well.
Hello Nikki hope your having a good day so far. I really think it's a great idea to have a routine. I have been teased but I love order . Friends who have come to my home love to ask to see my closets and kitchen drawers and I am proud to show then. It's not hard work most people see it that way but to me it is my routine. Be safe Blessing
Hello from south Arkansas. Have been watching you for a well, since Love Meg sent you a package to cheer you up, hope you remember that. You have a kind and gentle heart. God bless you and your family. Linda from Arkansas 🥰🥰💕💕🙏🙏
My favorite Laundry detergent is Method beach sage, it smells soooo good. I will have to check out the tide delicate. It was a pleasure to have you both over for coffee. My family loved the table setting you guys set up for us, it was beautiful ❤️
Thank you for discussing the importance of routines. Sometimes they can feel mundane and it's easy to loose focus on how positive they are. When it comes to laundry I sort clothing by wash temp and use wool dryer balls. When I bring the horses "laundry" home, I'll wash the saddle pads together before the old wash cloths. The wash cloths I'll do on a sanitary cycle with bleach. I do this not only to really clean the cloths (used for cleaning my hands, cleaning my horses face, scratches, unsavory business on the backend and first aid) but also to sanitize the washing machine after all the hair and sweat from the saddle pads which sometimes can leave a film (possibly from all the fly spray 🤔). Pet blankets I do on hot and wash weekly. Once a month I'll wipe out the washer and use a washing machine cleaner on a clean cycle my machine features. Like you, I've made mistakes and ruined clothing in the past 😐
This was lovely. As far as hanging on the line, the sun strips the item, so there is not such a great smell left... it's not really pleasant. Think about how Granny hung cloth diapers... it was to help strip the stink away. I still hang darn near everything, but sadly, the good smell isn't there when they come in. I like to spritz lavender essential oil on my stuff and even in my closets and drawers... it helps.
I do my laundry on Monday!! I use plant base laundry soap Meyers or Mode! I just started using Shaklee products again and I use their laundry soap for my delicates! I also use laundry bags for my bras.
I have washed my laundry separately from my husband's for awhile now and find my clothes last longer, especially delicates. The thought of his dirty gardening jeans in with my clothes wasn't inspiring! Always love your videos which are a wonderful way to "escape" from the daily routine.
This is a method I use for laundry: I separate items by fabric type, ex. microfibers, cotton etc. I try not to overstuff the washer and use cool or warm water. I have found that a prewash using BIz really helps lifts stains. Pods work best for me. I store them in a glass jar and it looks very pretty. I have Culligan watersoftener so I don't have to use very much detergent. Laundry is a very peaceful activity. Don't mind it at all. Woolite is a favorite of mine for delicates. In the summertime I love hanging clothes outside.
So beautiful Nikki. I'm so sorry to hear about your Grammy. I lost both of my Grandmothers within a month of each other, coming up 3 years ago in April/May of this year. They were 94 and 95. It was really hard at the time and I still miss them both. I have pictures of them on my dresser and I "talk " to them often. Crazy I know but it helps a little. God Bless :)
I'm sorry for your loss. When I sit and really think about it I'm so very sad I no longer have my grandmothers, they were so special to me. I slept in my pin curls last night like Grammy always said I should do but for some reason never did. She was right, they turn out much better. Talking helps. I was saying, "you were right, Grammy, like always".
Because I am worried about the chemical ingredients in the industrial fabric softeners, I stopped using them a decade ago, and use white vinegar instead (its smell disappears in minutes). After, I let our clothes and linen dry outdoors (the weather is sunny most of the year here in Greece). So they are not artificially "perfumed" but they smell so fresh and feel so soft. In our wardrobes and drawers I have little lavender bags or use a lavender water spray, or put natural scented soaps or a few drops of essential oil. White vinegars also keeps the colours bright and softens the water. I wash delicates with green olive oil soap powder, it's wonderful!
Those bags look nice. I've been buying a bunch of the cheap ones and only put one slip/one underwear set/one sweater etc in each bag. I soak nylons in the sink.
Hello thank you for the lovely video, that is a good idea about washing, clothes, like my own, then my husband another Day, I don't know why I didn't think of it.as he now has dermatitis so I have to wash his in fairy washing powder as it's for sedative skin, I can't use softener, I like the smell of softener so do do his a different time would be the answer 👍😊 God bless you
I've had to hang dry my clothes unexpectedly, my dryer broke and waiting for the part to come in before I can fix it. There's certain clothing of mine that I don't mind hang drying but other items I'd rather just throw in the dryer lol.
Nikki, I am so heartbroken to hear about your sweet grandmother. I know how incredibly special she was to you :( I wish I had the words to make it better for you. Over Christmas my mother was unexpectedly diagnosed with cancer and passed away New Year’s Day. A very sad 2021 for us both :( Sending you lots of love 🌸💕
My laundry routine has slipped a bit recently as we have gone into another full lockdown and so my children are home and back to virtual learning. Having been thrown completely out of routine and without the need of keeping up with their school uniforms my laundry has fallen off the radar. Thankfully it's not completely out of control and so I know I can catch up again easily 💞
Nikki sorry for the loss of your grandmother, my husband's grandmother passed away on 1/11/21 she was a sweet person to me and we will miss her so much.
omt i really love routines so much!!! this is so very always beautiful and feel so much relaxing while i'm watching this in my morning routine, have a good day ✨💗
Do u air dry the laundry inside home? What brand is your blush pink watch with a cute bow? Instead of laundry bag, can a pillow case be used for washing clothes with hooks and beads?
Yes, I hang dry my clothing inside. I used to use my rack but most recently my daughter has been using that as her "closet" since she has a new room without a proper closet space. I found that watch, still my favorite, from Charming Charlie a few years ago. The band is brittle now so I haven't worn it in quite some time. I haven't thought about a pillow case but if it had a zipper, I'm sure it would work.
When i put clothing out to air dry in the Hot Sun, they sometimes get White places where they had hung. I Wonder if that comes from beeing bleached by the sun? What can i Do against that?
That's so interesting and helpful Nikki! I'd love to watch all the series !for my delicates I use 'soflan' and I do laundry 2 times a week! thank you!💝
Hello from Australia you are an absolute delight. Will you still care for Grumpy and will your Mom come back to live near you ? it would be company for you.
Thank you Mary, I answer part of your question in today's video. As of right now my mom is still living with Grumpy until something else is worked out. We are looking forward to her return though.
My deepest condolences Nikki I lost my mama on January 1, 2021. I’m so heartbroken it hurts so much. Due to the pandemic I have had to do all this alone
I am sorry to bother everyone. Does anyone remember which video had Nikki's daily laundry schedule in it. I'm looking for it to no avail. I know she has said it many times. My kids are now going to be doing their own laundry, so I wanted to see if the schedule Nikki uses for herself will work for me. Thank you in advance! As for Laundry detergent, my whole family has allergies to the dyes and perfumes, so unfortunately, I have to use the white bottles of everything. Sadly, that means no scent. Yes, that makes me sad, but it's necessary. I usually use vinegar in the laundry cycle to get rid of any tough odors. My husband is a truck driver. He goes to many farms to pick up milk. So, his clothes tend to smell like a barn. It's nasty. Vinegar helps with that.
@@TheLadyoftheHouse I found enough to setup a schedule. All I could remember was Thursday being rug and rag day and Monday was bedding. Now, I have it. I've used it this week, and it's working so far. My kids are still learning, but they are getting it. I do need to invest in some tools (more hampers) to make it work better. Up until now, I had one hamper in the bathroom and one in the laundry room. I would have a child bring the one from the bathroom down every day, and I would sort and wash everyone's clothing. So, yeah, I need to get everyone their own hamper now. Not a big deal. Thank you for the ideas!! It was nice having a MUCH smaller load with ONLY my clothes in it. I cannot remember the last time I did only my clothes. lol
I wash my laundry once a week. Every family member has a day and I was my husband's on another day. I also have days for towels etc. I plan on sharing more as time goes on but I also speak on my schedule in past videos.

I've had to hang dry my clothes unexpectedly, my dryer broke and waiting for the part to come in before I can fix it. There's certain clothing of mine that I don't mind hang drying but other items I'd rather just throw in the dryer lol.
I’m shocked to hear of your Grandmother’s passing. I’m so sorry for your loss.
Thank you
P S if I ever come back to America I would love to catch up with you for a coffee.
Nikki, I am so heartbroken to hear about your sweet grandmother. I know how incredibly special she was to you :( I wish I had the words to make it better for you.
Over Christmas my mother was unexpectedly diagnosed with cancer and passed away New Year’s Day. A very sad 2021 for us both :(
Sending you lots of love 🌸💕
I'm so sorry for the loss of your mother.
Where can I purchase the laundry bags?
Thank You!
"Inspired By Nikki" who is "Inspired By Grammy" ♡♡♡ Sending hugs from Ohio
Greetings from Ontario 🇨🇦 so glad you are back 💕
Hello Lisa, it's good to be back!
It feels so good when we catch up! I look forward to sharing a laundry routine for the kids soon too.
Nikki sorry for the loss of your grandmother, my husband's grandmother passed away on 1/11/21 she was a sweet person to me and we will miss her so much.
Sorry to hear of the loss on your family. My condolences 🌷
I'm so sorry to hear of that. It sounds like you have wonderful memories to think on.
The thought of men's denim with delicates makes me cringe. 🙈 That would probably destroy half of my wardrobe lol
Yes, I know I did this when I wasn't wearing as many dresses, mixing jeans etc.
What laundry detergent do you use and any softener (specially for dresses), what cycle? They r beautiful
I love the Tide for delicates and Suavitel. I have used the delicate cycle but now I just use the speed wash to save time.
omt i really love routines so much!!! this is so very always beautiful and feel so much relaxing while i'm watching this in my morning routine, have a good day ✨💗
I'm so glad!
I don't line dry outside because I have huge trees close and I have allergies
We also live in a big dust bowl so that's another reason, the clothes wouldn't exactly come into the home very clean.
Lol I bet
Do u air dry the laundry inside home?
What brand is your blush pink watch with a cute bow? Instead of laundry bag, can a pillow case be used for washing clothes with hooks and beads?
Yes, I hang dry my clothing inside. I used to use my rack but most recently my daughter has been using that as her "closet" since she has a new room without a proper closet space. I found that watch, still my favorite, from Charming Charlie a few years ago. The band is brittle now so I haven't worn it in quite some time. I haven't thought about a pillow case but if it had a zipper, I'm sure it would work.
Isn't that watch available in store or online purchase? Charming Charlie is the brand name? Thank you so much for sharing your views
No, it's no longer available even though the store still sells watches.
When i put clothing out to air dry in the Hot Sun, they sometimes get White places where they had hung. I Wonder if that comes from beeing bleached by the sun? What can i Do against that?
I use to have this issue. I hang to dry out of direct sunlight.
@@dianaadhdchannel thank you that makes sense 🌸
I have seen this issue as well, I like her suggestion.
That's so interesting and helpful Nikki! I'd love to watch all the series !for my delicates I use 'soflan' and I do laundry 2 times a week! thank you!💝
I hope you enjoy all I have planned for it! I appreciate you sharing what you do, thank you!
Thank you Susan and I am so sorry to hear about your mother's passing. You did so much for her, you were a true blessing.
And I LOVE SAUVITEL!!!
I found the schedule.
I can't even think of the one. I will be sharing a kids schedule soon though. I'm happy you found it!
I cannot remember the last time I did only my clothes. lol
👆🙏NICE TO SEE YOU AGAIN😉
How often do you do laundry?
I wash my laundry once a week. Every family member has a day and I was my husband's on another day. I also have days for towels etc. I plan on sharing more as time goes on but I also speak on my schedule in past videos.
@@TheLadyoftheHouse what’s your mental game for tackling chores you don’t enjoy?
I hear the baby birds 😊 Are they still covering their nest up? Lol
Yes, they currently have 9 eggs they are sitting on.
I wish I could... working full time I don’t have the time... 🥱😵
I did a well, and I found that 5-10 minutes a day was enough. That and enlist everyone else to give the same effort lol
@@ladydelina13 right?! My kids are getting old enough.
