I think COD is the only game that can be argued to an extent in terms of controller vs. KBAM. I think controller is just the better option in terms of warzone and cod just because close range gunfights are extremely difficult to win on a consistent basis. If you miss one single bullet in a close range gunfight on KBAM, you’re gonna lose to a good controller player. But I do agree that KBAM is more fun

@@TheTater_change your classes, use less optics, don’t worry as much about recoil and substitute it for range since the aim assist reaches very far now a days, makes gunfights easier for me to prioritize range over horizontal or vertical recoil, just look for overall “recoil control” on attachments, usually there’s quite a few options that come with extra range, I’ve only started on KBM for call of duty in 2019. I didn’t play the new MW2. But I am on MW3. I enjoy it for the most part, but honestly I’m getting tired of the morons that just sit in their spawns mounted on shit, but it is what it is, most people don’t know how to play the game, so they hide. As a KBM guy, I find smoke grenades the easiest shit to use, also try out the HoloTherm on the snipers, you can see the enemies outlines, but they cannot see your glare at all since it’s a holosight.

I remember during the early days of CoD and the beginning of Battlefield's growth on console, everyone understood playing on PC/KBM was for the people who were highly invested into gaming, and something many of us aspired to earn! Most of us were still on console at the time, but we'd still watch PC gameplay because of how fast and exciting it was, especially for Battlefield since we only had 30fps with virtually no aim-assist. To go from playing like that, to finally getting a PC and investing 10 years into myself and improving, to now seeing people spend 3000$ on a PC just to plug in a controller on CoD feels like we've forgotten the entire point of what we were doing.

Due to the lack of a precision on a control stick. The only thing aim assist should do really is slowdown that's it since it's not easy to actually pull back at the right speed which is where the problem has always been with using a controller. Sticks just weren't designed with intention of being used in FPS games. They were made for things like flight.
Rotational aim assist really is the only real problem. Sometimes that really does the work for you and you can feel it. Other times it can screw you over, but more often than not it will help you. But no one needs that sort of hand holding where it tracks the enemies movements before either party can react.

    • @Dragoonsoul7878
      @Dragoonsoul7878 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

The issue with this is Slowdown can become detrimental, if the target suddenly starts strafing to your left after strafing right you have the natural issue of sticks where you're still aiming right, slow right, slow left, then hard left.
Just Slowdown gives M&K an massive advantage. This is why Rotational exists, to remove that issue above and was fine when it was only controller. When Crossplay came into the picture Mouse and Controller can't co-exist.

The way I see it is kind of like an automatic transmission vehicle VS manual transmission. Controller is very straight forward and easy to learn and handle like an automatic car, where as a manual takes time and is a fully raw human to machine experience that you HAVE to understand because it will not allow for any errors. One allows for more skill to be shown w years of practice, while the other is very limiting and DOES help the user to achieve the same goal.. playing the game.

in classic cod's there was only ONE type of aim assist which was the default version of it up until MW19 where we were introduced to multiple aim assist types (focusing, precision, standard). In MW2 (2022) the "black ops" aim assist was added to the game while the others still existed. Even in today's most recent cod (MWIII) all of the aim assist types I mentioned are still available in game; each aim assist brings a different dynamic that is still effective. the issue isn't aim assist alone, its the variety of aim assist types you can choose from. the only way to patch aim assist is to go back to how classic cod's were, which is to have 1 type of aim assist which is the standard version.

You just don't run and ego challenge 4-3 Linear players expecting you'd win the engagement, you outposition your opponent and deal damage first so you can have some advantage.
Frankly, i can't even imagine how MnK must feel playing COD where everything is much closer range, there seem to be tons of "ratting"/surprising spots. It sounds like nothing but torture.
As for Jevs question "how much of a nerf is enough?" : A nerf where you can't tell whether you died to a real player or the game. In most games that do have AA atm, you can tell 100% of the time what input you died to. Let controller miss some shots, make it more organic.

All these debates about aim assist are so plagued with controller players making bad faith arguments, completely not understanding the issues, or just being rude and calling mnk players names or saying "skill issue" or whatever. it just makes them look so bad, imo. They also repeat the same talking points that may have some truth to them, but over-exaggerate it to the max (thumb vs whole arm thing). I guarantee most people haven't played on both inputs and their opinions are just handed to them from Reddit/Twitter. I've played apex on mnk, roller, and roller with aa turned off and my conclusion is that aa being as strong as it is ruins the game. It completely flatlines the skill gap for roller players, makes the pro scene a joke, and makes the game almost unplayable if you're an above average (but not insanely good) mnk player.
I rarely see the mnk players making these bad faith arguments and acting a fool. Maybe some call it aimbot but that's about it. They generally just say what aa is doing mechanically that is OP and why it shouldn't be as strong as it is.
To me, it seems like a lot of controller players are being selfish and just don't want to be 'nerfed' and don't care that its ruining the game for everyone, controller player or mnk player.

Ok.... as a KBM player I have to say what @ImMarksman is saying here is absolutely spot on. for an average player like me its impossible to play the game almost. Controller players , as said , assume we are just really bad but the truth is regardless if your good or bad you are hugely disadvantaged from the get go. one massive thing I completely DISAGREE with in Jev's video is his reasoning why KBM players don't want to go to controller is they wont feel special or something like that. That is absurd, I would totally go to Controller in a heart beat but the issue for me is simple, I JUST NEVER EVER used controller for anything other than the odd driving game. I have ALWAYS been on KBM from the start and controllers just feel totally alien to me. for me its like playing on console for the first time, its practically impossible, it has nothing to do with " Not feeling special !" , I'm pretty sure others are the same. Go watch JKucci's TH-cam and tell me how as a KBM player I have an advantage over him because he's on controller!! its just simply not the case. I don't want Aim assist removed or hate controller players , I just want the game to be consistent for all of us. I spent my money on MWIII etc like everyone else did but its so one sided as is Warzone, its unreal.

Aim assist also reduces the skill gap on console overall. Someone who may not understand the technique of slide cancelling to a corner/wall peek, drop shot, jump shot, or how to rotate/anticipate these janky spawns could consistently finish multiplayer games with similar stats because they solely have decent reaction time. SBMM aside, you used to be able to SLAM lobbies if you were the more skilled/aware player, even without all the new movement tech.

Here are 4 solutions. Activision can choose one of them and implement it in the game so that everyone is happy:
    - Nerf controller AA
-Game does not allow you to switch inputs while searching for a match, take advantage of this and allow kbm players to enable a setting, so that they can only get matched with kbm players
-Reduce the TTK. It is impossible for a kbm player to stay consistent throughout the entire process of getting a kill. Losing a couple of shots is only normal, and when comparing that to a controller that offers improved tracking stability, the gunfights are being easily lost by kbm.
-Allow AA for kbm players. Although I am not a huge fan of it due to the fact that, going into other games without AA is going to feel way too different, it will at least allow people, who'd like to watch the issue getting mitigated, a feeling of balance.

Great video but I think a lot of the issues with this topic stem from language and tone. When you say things like “you don’t want to loose to a literal robot because that what it is” you’re insulting every controller player who, I’m willing to bet, at the time of getting that kill or making that play, didn’t feel for a second that a robot did it for them. It’s an absurd and inflammatory statement. I do get kills where I know I shouldn’t have made that headshot or won that gunfight but for the most part it is not something you notice most of the time because it’s just normal. In many instances I find aim assist to be annoying in the amount it can pull you off a headshot or to an area you aren’t aimming for. Insurgency on ps5 is another game with no aim assist I’m fairly certain and I destroy in that game too. Acting as if every kill was because of aim assist and controllers never miss a shot just isn’t reality. Pc players also love to leave out the numerous other advantages they have in literally every other area of gaming. Crossplay with pc in multiplayer games should have never been done. It’s made it so console can’t just play with console because if you opt out you get an endless search for a game, even when games are brand new and it’s given pc players an excuse for why they die, every time they die. It will never go back to non crossplay because pc is such a minority. I guess we will all just have to hate each other forever 😂

The other problem apart from reaction time is visibility. They have made it far harder to see with the center dot shaking off-center of the screen, way more aim sway, more visual recoil, more muzzle flash/smoke etc. Most of this does nothing to a controller player while you are basically guessing where your bullets are actually coming out from half the time on M&K. In the event that you do manage to land all your shots, there is a far higher chance you are hitting arms and legs, whereas a controller's aim assist basically sticks you to the chest, so you even often lose fights when you aren't missing.

I had no clue that left stick aiming was superior and with controlFreaks, im sure i could easily be a 2kd+ like I am on pc. Most people who think aim assist is good have not played to be good on both inputs or are just really bad at controller. Aim assist should just go back to MW2019 levels. His point about mouse having a higher ceiling is legitimately wrong, you can't get that level of tracking where you hit basically are guaranteed to hit 100% of shots once you have locked onto an enemy, even if they are strafing/jumping. On PC you are relying on muscle memory, reaction time and just prediction to track, you can get 99% of the way there but never to the level aim assist. I genuinely do not believe it's possible for a human on mouse without aim assist to compete with the top cdl pros.

I can't imagine how utterly dogshit I would be when I inevitably ditch MW3 and return to CS/Rust/any other FPS after a few hundred hours of vaguely waiving my mouse in the direction of bad guys for kills. As far as evening it up goes; could they just buff headshot damage and leave everything else as it is? Both groups are rewarded for taking the time to get better, while your average couch potato continues to have, largely, the same experience.
I also don't understand why console/controller players want their collective hands held to the current degree either - every straight gunfight just boils down to reaction times when aim is almost entirely taken care of for you.

The only reason I don't switch is because I come from others game like R6, Valorant, CS, and Fortnite while playing all of them at/near the top 0.1% and have confidence in my input even though it's not nearly as strong. Also playing on console from CoD 4-Bo3 has allowed me to understand how to correctly play CoD titles compared to tac shooters like the games I previously mentioned (Positioning, knowing where to pre aim, knowing how to hold lanes correctly, and playing off angles, they're extra important to abuse while using kbm vs controller). Also just enjoy playing kbm over controller :) Really enjoyed both of your point of views on the subject.

All that stuff technically affects controller players as well, it's just that the aim assist is so strong it automatically counteracts most of the effects without the player even realizing they existed in the first place. Both need to be toned down, because if you did nerf AA then controller players would start getting doubly screwed by those mechanics, because they're even less equipped to counteract them manually.

so m&k main here, i played bo2 to mw 2019 on controller, had a 2kd on each game i finally got a pc in 2021 and made the switch to playing the with m&k, it took me a full year to get back to being good with the input, im still not top tier or anything but i can hold my own, in mw3 right now i have a 1.7kd and im still climbing. i do play controller here and there if i play warzone or i go a couple games doing badly just for a fresh mindset however i use mainly keyboard and mouse, i understand controller needs aim assist, however it 100% needs to be toned down a notch or 2, i feel as though i have to play perfectly and not miss even 1 shot to compete with most console players but they can just perfectly track me where ever i go just by slightly strafing which btw is not always easy to track on the mouse, but all in all I as a m&k main in terms of rank (just an example btw->) i have to be a diamond player to beat plat or gold players consistently, however if i go against another diamond console player i just cant compete or its like a 70-30 chance against me that i win the gunfight, which due to sbmm im going against my own skill most games meaning i have to either sweat my ass off to even kill 1 person or i just dont do well at all. Its annoying thinking i spend so much time improving myself, my aim, positioning, tracking, just to get beaten by a console player whose console automatically aims for them at such a high precision, again i dont think it should be taken out, but make it where they have to at least be more precise themselves for aim assist to work.

Best video ever. You have my respect.
    Please listen to my thoughts.
1.) I'm an above average Kbm gamer who's always been top tier in every shooter I touch.
2.) I'm also above average playing shooters on controller.
3.) I went from above average to getting wrecked, then back to average after understanding why and playing around the disadvantages.
4.) I went through all the stages of misery to the point where I now just roll my eyes or scoff quietly when I clearly lost a fight I shouldn't because of Aim Assist.
5.) My friend had me play on his controller and the frist thing I thought was "I'm not doing anything, I have no business getting these kills."
6.) Here's why I would never switch to controller. It feels boring. I get no satisfaction from winning gunfights. I can't truly test or demonstrate my skills that I've honed for 20 plus years. KbM feels better to me control-wise. At least where responsiveness is concerned. I don't care about standing out or respresenting kbm or any of what the guy said. I just want a fair enough challenge and I feel as if artificially bumping average players up to our skill level after all our hard work is a slap in the face.
7.) I don't want them to remove crossplay between PC and console. Because a lot of my friends are on console and I want to play with them and also to have everyone be able to play on what they prefer.
8.) I believe the best thing would be better balancing aim assist. Unlike most, I strongly believe it can be done if tackled seriously enough.
9.) A blanket fix suggestion would be to reduce all aim assist functionality by 50%
A more specific and tuned suggestion I'd be willing to make in comments but I've typed enough. Thanks for reading.
Edit: I just thought of something absolutely hilarious. No amount of training and mastery on keyboard and mouse is gonna make you as good as the controller noobs. 😂

  • @Anarcaeful
    @Anarcaeful 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

The biggest problem with MNK vs AA is that the visual clutter is awful to aim through. In apex theres so much muzzle flash, sparks, flares, dust and visual noise that you CAN'T keep eye on your target even if youre locked in and focused. Whereas with AA that stuff is irrelevant. AA will still track the target so long as they are within the rotational fov and it can be triggered by just reducing deadzone to the minimum to get constant AA.
MNK should never get AA in Halo the AA is so annoying on mnk because it turns off when the target it one shot and the sudden change in magnetism makes you overflick so much when it'd be better to have it off and just learn your range.

    A couple of other points:
Some of us have been playing cod on m+k for over 20 years, of which the first 16 years was like 99.9% m+k vs m+k. Why would I want to switch to controller now? It has nothing to do with "elitism". It's just all I've ever played.
I disagree that the game wasn't popular on PC. With the exception of Blackout, there has always been a strong player base. You can still go back and find players in nearly every cod going all the way back to cod 1.
I think a lot of PC players either quit playing cod or switched to controller after the implementation of crossplay because of the AA. If they nerfed AA or separated the inputs, I think a lot of players would find back to m+k.
Also, the longer the ttk, the harder it is for m+k to compete. I do quite well in hardcore mode. But get absolutely slaughtered by aim assist in warzone

@@edmond472 exactly. Only thing you can do is try to out "movement" them to break the AA
It's funny how moves that always worked on enemy mouse and keyboard players don't work against aim assisted players. Like strafing left right left right or jumping -the aim assist perfectly tracks that. But a mouse and keyboard player has human reaction time and the adjusting to the erratic movements will make them miss a few.
Against aim assisted players, you have to break the aim assist. In close range, I try to move as quickly to one side as possible. If they aren't very good. It will break the AA.
Or try to get something between you.. a wall... a vehicle... smoke. Keep moving in and out from cover. The AA only works if they're already tracking you. Gotta make them manually adjust, which is harder for them.

I haven't played MW3 yet. Before I quit playing MW2, I rarely got mad about aim assist, unless it was just completely absurd. I absolutely RAGED over SBMM. I quit playing games for months because of SBMM.
I started playing on mouse and keyboard back in 2021. It took me about 3 months to get where I felt I was decent at it, as an input. I switched back to controller just for fun for a few days, after being on MnK for about a year, and I lost quite a bit of muscle memory. But it only took me a few matches to get the feel for it again, after not touching a controller for over a year.
When they took movement as a skill gap out of CoD, I started to not really have fun playing the game. Then SBMM got cranked up to 11 when MW2. That's what drove me over the edge.
I recently stared playing games again, and I made the switch to Fortnite. I haven't had this much fun playing a game in a long while. Although, I have been thinking about buying MW3 because they added slide canceling back into the game. Slide canceling drastically changes the way the game plays and feels.
