      You call it garden, is in it a ...soil like a near loam just put on boxes.May bee you like that word. Myself some time spend on garden like weed, fertilize with compost, plant vegetables.Sorry for the impoliteness.Have a good time spending

    Yay! I share your enthusiasm for worms. :) I live in an upstairs apartment and I have bins on my deck. They eat our kitchen scraps and some garden scraps and I feel so happy that I am not throwing away useful worm 'food' into the landfill when it can be used to feed back into my garden soil. I wish everyone all the best with their vermicomposting efforts!

    I need to get more worms for my bin. Many didn't make it in my chilly basement. I like both application methods you shared. Last year I made worm tea to feed my plants. So good for them.

    Found you from the R&R vid at the homestead festival. I have a commercial stackable system. Other than food I have not done a lot with it. I made some tea once. Right now I am at the point I should empty it all and start over. I can’t keep them outside all year so that is a thing. I have trays that are extremely dense. I plan to watch some of your last post to see if I may want to do your subscription class. Thanks.

    Natalie, I'm can't find the beautiful picture of you and Ruby in the red dresses for your birthday. I hope you had a good day ❤️ Also, hey thanks for telling us something good!! (Topic of your last birthday) look at you, 15k so happy for you. Do you remember when we were want 10,000 before the end of the year? I can't wait until you get to share that you're getting to move to your regenerative Farm. Dreams are just blessings in the waiting, faith in someone bigger than us keeps us looking, hoping and praying for bigger dreams than we can even imagine. That farm is on the way, I just know it. Praying for you and your sweet family always. Have a happy Thanksgiving.

    Listen at that sweet laugh!!! Ruby is growing up so fast and look at those teeth!! She's going to be up and running in no time! I love that you are using nasturtium as a cover crop!! What a beautiful plant! I am learning so much about worms other than they are great fish bait. Having grown up in the country I had no idea that they were good for the garden worms were just always there. I finally looked into Nature's Always Right. Hope to see you on the east coast or at least closer to us. I think you're doing a fine job stewarding your farm life and dreams. Can you imagine what a great farm you're going to be able to raise Ruby on? Farm life will be a lot of hard work but aren't the most amazing things worth all the sweat and tears? The season of crying under your blanket on your computer, dreaming bigger dreams than you could ever imagine is almost over and your season of coming into the of reality of dreams really do come true is right around the corner!! I can't wait until you share that news with us! God knows your beautiful heart and your dreams. Jeremiah 29:11.

    Make sure when you use worms in beds to much because it becomes worm food... Also you can make in soil worm farms (small bucket with holes that is covered) and feed scraps in there and worms eat and go into soil to deposit castings. Just a suggestion. Or make small holes and put scraps directly into soil and worms will find them (also called trench feeding). Just some ideas to explore.

    The best part of having composting worms is that you do not need to tend to them daily. I mean you can, but not necessary. For those who don't always have the time, worms are perfect. Their castings definitely make a difference!

    Hey Natalie-I just got my tiny worm farm going(in a bucket in the middle of my raised veggie bed) last Wednesday. This past Saturday, we had an ENORMOUS rain shower…I would guess we got a couple of inches at least. So yesterday of course I had to check on my new babies!! I had 250 worms, but when I checked yesterday, I only found 3!!!! So Im kinda freaking out!! I had a brown paper bag lining the bucket, so if they got out, it had to be towards the top or if there were holes in the brown bag! I did look for remaining food while I was looking for worms & all I saw was a couple of larger chunks of a corn cob (I cut it up into 1” pieces)…so I added some more food & am HOPING they come back!! Any tips or advice? Do u think they are gone forever??

    How quickly do worms reproduce? What percentage would you need to save to keep the bin going?

    • @heyitsagoodlife
      @heyitsagoodlife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      In 70% moisture and 70*F they’ll lay 2-3 cocoons a week I usually start with 250 worms a bun

    Hello, everyone. Is the goal to eventually use mostly worm castings, tea, and other home made compost for feeding our gardens? Or are other amendments still necessary? I just started gardening and the idea of having to buy fertilizers ( inorganic/organic) is a little confusing and expensive.

    • @heyitsagoodlife
      @heyitsagoodlife  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I felt the same way which is why I started vermicomposting. By using the castings directly in my garden as well as in aerated worm teas, I have never needed to amend my beds with anything else! I highly recommend worms. Have you check out my ebooks? They’ll help you get started and give you the tea recipes :)
