It takes a while but eventually you get to an age where you don't give a rats bottom about what other people think when it comes to hobbies and lifestyle choices. I'm 52, single and have a lot of disposable income. I don't drink, I don't do drugs but I do play video games and collect action figures and Lego sets. I have a full time job and have lived on my own for a vast majority of the time since I was 20 years old. It's not for everyone but it's for me and that's the only person I'm trying to make happy. A lot of women collect shoes, makeup and accessories. That's not my bag but whatever makes you happy and keeps you wanting to get up in the morning is A OK if you're not hurting anyone or yourself in the process. People's business is none of mine.
That's how it should be. If you're not hurting anyone , then you should be able to like what you like without feeling embarrassed. Thank you for watching and commenting.
In life and love, You can have a passion for what you collect, but if you're with someone, that passion for the one you loves comes first. In that passion, to always grow together and share, to include each other. Never have fomo about missing out on toys, for any and all toys will pop up when you least expect it. The toy companies and or secondary markets will see to that. Life is very short, have fun, and never forget what's important. Thank you Jojo for sharing with everyone.
"It's not the hobby; it's the hobbyist." That's pretty good advice. To me, as long as there isn't anything immoral about the actual hobby, and you use your hobby in good ways, it's fine. For people out there still in the dating pool: firstly, my condolences. Secondly, if you find yourself in a relationship where the hobby is unattractive to them, run. Or else, it'll be a problem. Find someone who loves you for you (and make sure to treasure them and do the same!).
Very well said. I always feel bad when I see comments where people say they have to hide their purchases or how their significant is really against their hobby. I feel home and your relationship should be a place of peace and security. Thanks for watching and for your comment. 😊
Do what you enjoy and don't worry about what people think. Thats a very attractive trait. You'll find someone that appreciates you for who you really are.
You are correct. I think when you are confident in yourself and your likes, then it definitely comes off better than being weird or seeming embarrassed by it.
I never found someone (and I'm happy with it) and was tired of "trying" to "find" someone that is cool with collecting so I'd rather be single and do what I want then to be with someone constantly on you.... why this and why that! My last girlfriend was cool enough to give me 1 little shelf and called it my toy shelf. We broke up a while ago and if only she could see my HOUSE collection now! 😂 Be you!!!!
I've never asked an employee to go to the back to look for shit. If it's not on the shelf, I just go to another store and check. Just pre-order stuff, and you won't have any issue
I'm lucky with my wife. I make sure we go out, and time at home, family time...and I don't stress on the toys. Son and her are first for everything. Then when I can, I collect comics, figures and Lego. Started with bonding with my son over small Lego sets, we'd go to the monthly builds at the local Lego store, he got into a Lego Robotics club and all of it was fun plus family time with collecting. My son still likes it but doesn't build as much (older, school, college, music career) while I still have a growing collection. He'll still build once in a while. My secret is NOT to be a completest. I get what I can, if it's a big set, I save, if it's others, I wait for sales. I don't need the whole line or every cool set that comes out, even if I really want it. Plus shelf space dictates it for me and keeps me in line. I don't want to keep them all in box and not enjoy.
That is awesome. We stop trying to be completionists when McFarlane started dropping DC figures so fast. It would be nice to be able to keep up, but now we just get what we find.
As a female collector yeah lol. My gf enjoys going with me bc we make it a shopping trip for both of us. Also I think the financial side of it can be unattractive. When collectors are super irresponsible financially borderline greedy. That to me just even watching others on hunts I’m like ehh it’s too much. But that’s my POV. lol Great vid!
@@ventraa23 I was gonna touch on the financial aspect too. I was thinking if you've been evicted or had a car repoed then there's definitely a problem. We are past unattractive and are straight into addiction. Definitely another video 😄 Thank you so much for watching and commenting!
I thought I commented, but silly mobile. I agree you on all counts here all counts. Bae isn't a collector like me, but he understands and he's supportive. And it's true, if you do it together, even if your partner isn't one, but you share that time together and they understand, it's an amazing thing. Also Bae is like Mike...there's nothing wrong with that AT ALL!
Smart points made and people should collect what they want and stay calm and enjoy it. Also these companies know it's not kids buying this stuff. It's way to expensive if your serious!
It could be unattractive but thankfully I'm collecting figures while looking like Henry Cavill. JK. Good video. Feels like watching a YT video from simpler times. Subbed!
My family tolerates it haha. If they’re going to Target or Walmart without me, I’ll ask if they see a new MOTU fig I’ve been looking for to let me know and my daughter will say “NO MORE HE-MANS” lmao 🤣
@Bigsmooth1980 my 3 year old has that he-man golden book memorized. She tells us to read it then gets mad at us for not letting her say the words. Does your daughter have any of those ? I'm sure she'd like them 😄
My friend set me up with a woman who collected herself. She talked about it on and off on the date. Was cool how much she was into it. Then when she asked me about what I collected (MMPR Green Ranger stuff) she made fun of me. It was really off-putting. She told me that it had to be the least manly thing to collect.

Ive gone extremely overboard with collecting transformers. I started in late 2021 and it just blew up. Ive worked my entire life foregoing relationships which is regrettable. I never had kids or got married. Ive never flipped out over my collection or made it a priority over the real world. I have only involved an employee one time in the history of it and that was just to retrieve a pack from the back that I already knew was there and had the details. The saddest part of it is that I could have probably bought two cars with the amount ive spent on the hobby. Luckily it hasnt had any hard financial impact because "No kids or relationships"
Collecting can get expensive. Especially collecting Transformers. That is good that it never came before the real world. It should be fun and hopefully calming. Hopefully work has taken a smaller role so you can enjoy more of life. ❤
Smart points and well said. also I'm glad you talked about conduct in the toy isles. I defiantly get farther being cool and nice then if I'm aggressive
Target associates are good about going to the back for a figure if you pull up the upc on your phone. I’m never an ass to the workers because I’m a toy store veteran myself.
Our Target's employees are pretty awesome. They seem to know the collectors and scalpers already. Our Walmarts pretty much just say they never have anything now. 😂
I know I'm a different kind of collector. I work on forklifts and material handling equipment for a living. I think it's odd that I am basically a grease monkey that collects toys, LOL. I grew up in the early 80's watching the dukes of hazzard then MOTU and then transformers. Was collecting dukes stuff in the late 90's and early 2000's then started collecting transformers in 07 after the live action movie came out and the popularity reached an all time high and is still holding strong today. My lady tolerates my collecting so she is pretty good but I am very low maintenance myself so I guess that works. It's just fun to collect and to see others and what they collect too.
@@chadfloyd2236 Well tolerating is a lot better than hating it. Lol I bet you could find something she'd be interested in collecting. I also collect Polly Pockets. Maybe she thinks those are cute too. It's always more fun when you can go hunting with someone. When I go alone and get excited I have no one to share my excitement with. My kids look at me like I'm weird. Lol Having Mike there makes it fun.
She has small collection of wizard of Oz stuff. She is really not a Collector but it's fine. My son has a decent collection of NECA figures and he has a few transformers and some star wars stuff. He will tag along with me sometimes when I go hunting for stuff.
I think as long as you don't prioritize your hobbies before your responsibilities and your significant other's needs it shouldn't become an issue in your relationship. If she finds it as a complete turn-off entirely even in spite of you doing the previous, then you should consider that you guys are just not compatible and be with other people.

In time I learned its okay to treat myself and Mike is gonna get me things whether I want him to or not. When you're hunting don't be embarrassed to ask.
I completely agree! Thank you 😊
@ You're very welcome.
The bottom line is that you dont want to be with anyone who keeps you away from doing something that you love.
Very well said. I believe you should be happy in life. Even if your significant doesn't like what you like they should at least respect it.
Some very thoughtful insights Jojo. Thanks for taking the time to share with us. As always, cool to hang with you 🫶🤘
@@kurrax_raptorr thank you ☺️
"It's not the hobby; it's the hobbyist." That's pretty good advice.
Do you have good luck with pre orders? I'm not much of the online person unless it's like a mattel creations motu exclusive.
@@bones1893 lol No there's not. That time spent together is definitely important 😊
Smart points made and people should collect what they want and stay calm and enjoy it. Also these companies know it's not kids buying this stuff. It's way to expensive if your serious!
Ive been lucky cuz when i tell a woman I collect toys the response has always been positive.
@@thomasruiz8224 sometimes it's just the confidence of how you say it. If you're not weird about it then it doesn't come off as weird. ☺️
It could be unattractive but thankfully I'm collecting figures while looking like Henry Cavill. JK. Good video. Feels like watching a YT video from simpler times. Subbed!
Lol thank you for subscribing
My family tolerates it haha. If they’re going to Target or Walmart without me, I’ll ask if they see a new MOTU fig I’ve been looking for to let me know and my daughter will say “NO MORE HE-MANS” lmao 🤣
@@Bigsmooth1980 lol there's just so many coming out!
@ too many lol
@Bigsmooth1980 my 3 year old has that he-man golden book memorized. She tells us to read it then gets mad at us for not letting her say the words. Does your daughter have any of those ? I'm sure she'd like them 😄
@ that’s so awesome! I got the Skeletor one a couple years ago but she wouldn’t even let me read it lmao 🤣
@@Bigsmooth1980 lol she has that one too but she's stuck on the he-man book.
My friend set me up with a woman who collected herself. She talked about it on and off on the date. Was cool how much she was into it. Then when she asked me about what I collected (MMPR Green Ranger stuff) she made fun of me. It was really off-putting. She told me that it had to be the least manly thing to collect.
@@retroransom9861 wtf? Sounds like she wanted to be the only cool kid. My brother has met him dozens of times. I got his autograph here at Star Comics. He was an awesome Power Ranger! AND he came from the best ones.
@@jojo21327 Never met him in person. Didn't think we would lose him so early. Big regret of mine.
Im not a huge MMPR guy myself but the Green Ranger is easily the first charecter i think of and the coolest, I remember him having this awsome flute dagger that could summon a Godzilla Kaiju Zord! he rocks

My family will always come before any of my collecting habits
That's how it should be. 😊
40yr old virgin was a classic lol

@@ttg-vi5tp exactly 😊
Could it be the same as the female collector's meme, "hey guys check these new drops"
I think as long as you don't prioritize your hobbies before your responsibilities and your significant other's needs it shouldn't become an issue in your relationship. If she finds it as a complete turn-off entirely even in spite of you doing the previous, then you should consider that you guys are just not compatible and be with other people.
@@azaizer Yup! Definitely 😊
Hey JoJo! You're the absolute best! You go girl! Who cares what people think! My wife hates it so much that I don't even mention anything that I enjoy.... Some cant really be myself around her. She hates spending money on anything. Not anything that is material. ... But she comes first. I watch her shows. I give her hugs and I do love her. But it is all secret that im doing this. She sees some credit card things, and she let's ot go. But she doesnt want me to spend money on her either.... Just nothing.,,, I did freak out over an unopened box of Hasbro Marvel action figures... At a target. But had to go pick up my sister having a physical therapy appointment. But the stress by my never have anything , ever... I've been checking for 9 months.... Twice a week... I just saw a guy take a box off of a cart that the Target employee was shelving. It was for some new hot wheels cars... But inwanted to ask about the box i saw.... But I had to go. I'm way too embarrassed to ask,,,, I've seen people hand the workers money... Its insane..
@@GenesGems well at least you put her first and at the end of the day she is more important than these plastic treasures. I didn't like Mike spending money on me either in the beginning and didn't really get anything for myself. I don't know why I just felt guilty and still do sometimes. In time I learned its okay to treat myself and Mike is gonna get me things whether I want him to or not. When you're hunting don't be embarrassed to ask. I always just ask if I can bother them for a bit and most of the time the employees are really nice and willing to help when they can.
Great job Jojo
