What am i not feeling my dose while tapering? I'm 46 years old was on klonopin 1mg 3 times daily for 6 months now I'm tapering 2.5 mg. Can you give me a plan. I'm in desperate need. Weeks , months mgs etc. also melatonin I heard can be bad while tapering due to it desensitizing the GABA A receptors during klonopin taper.
My dr says it's not a race. I've been tapering for about a year and at this rate it'll be a few years more before I'm done. I may never be done and he says he would be comfortable with a chronic low dose if total withdrawal is not possible. I'm lucky to have a good doctor.
Hello I read your comment you have a good Doctor can you please tell me we're is this doctor located i want to get off from Xanax looking for a understanding Doctor . I appreciate if you can respond back to me. Thank you. Blessing
I work at the county jail. Inmates that come in and report benzo use are monitored and placed on a medical watch. Some are moved up to general population too early. The inmate thinks he/she is stable and begs staff to move them. Sometimes after about a week, sometimes 2 weeks, the inmates starts having delusions and hallucinations thinking helicopters are flying around in their cell. I think acute and post-acute is anywhere between a week to 3- 6 weeks. Depends on a person's age, the amount they've been using, and how long they've been using.
It took me over 5 years so far after X-over from 4mg/day Xanax (which I was prescribed for roughly 4 years for GAD/PTSD/Panic attacks) to Klonopin and then Valium. Now down to 4mg/day Valium and kinda stuck. An incredibly long journey but very well tolerated due to slow taper. Did not notice much of any withdrawal (if any) until recently. I did not see any rush, and recently noticed a much improvement brain function. I must have not been on this planet for a couple of years it seems now, looking back.
Just finished a 2 year taper 4 months ago. Complete HELL! I don't know what he's talking about when he says you should not feel any withdrawals if you taper. Not true. There's no getting around them.
The uk nhs just refuse to accept that coming off of benzos needs to be done in a way that suits the patient and treats everyone the same, they also make you taper off way roo fast, im talking 3 weeks. As they say the withdrawals aren't that bad. Ive seen this happen time and time again
Dr. B, are you aware that it’s getting harder and harder to get doctors to prescribe Benzos long term? Especially the younger doctors? They’re just not doing it. Telling patients to remain on them if they need is not a good idea. Anyone can taper off. It took me five years but I did it. Former 25 year Xanax user, 3 mgs. per day.
All I know is I’ve been tapering unsuccessfully since 2017. Stopped because of family difficulties. Started tapering in Oct 2023. I only got down from 3mg Klonopin to 2.4mg since then. Suffering the entire way. I am not functioning nor living a normal life. I’m isolated and embarrassed of myself. I need a reason to exist. This is awful & no one gets it!

I tapered off of mdone after 6 years of 120mg was my highest dose. i tapered down to 30 mg found out I was pregnant. The highest mg before pregnancy was 90 mg but they took me up very fast and I was taken down too fast bc I was discharged after having baby. I also went weekends when i missed my Saturday dose or went to jail and it was the worst pain everywhere, i had those nightmares called detox dreams, insomnia was horrible, couldnt eat, digestive issues etc. but once I transitioned to subutex I really found out how strong mdone really was, the subutex only did what it was supposed to do, keep me from being sick. I lost that energy that mdone gave me and i unfortunately picked up stimulants. Adderall then meth. Switched to suboxone now Ill be on suboxone for life bc I dont have 60 plus days to withdrawal I have 2 autistic sons who need me. I was able to quit meth through a research program using vyvanse and welbutrin along with exercise. Im telling you the Gods honest truth u exercise your down time is cut in half if you get you bpm above 120 for 30 min or more daily. And it gives u natural energy. i know at 1st it sucks but after ab 2 weeks u will feel those enfdorphins and dopamine working well. good luck!
As you withdraw from an opiate a pain killer that has artificially been doing the work of your own bodies normal non drug induced pain mediating functions as you taper off aches and pains will feel acute, raw even chronic but as you move further towards abstinence the bodies natural processes and pathways will begin to reset this takes quite some time. In the mean time if you can manage it lots of hot baths, stretches, walks, relaxation exercises ie focused breathing if you can manage a massage from a trained practitioner then also good but it will take time but our bodies are incredible they literally can rejuvenate keep on keeping on God bless

Prayers to everyone, cold turkey is always dangerous and I hope medical professionals will be as understanding as DrB.

I'm tapering of methadone and my legs ache constantly. Is this from the taper or arthritis or fybromyalgia ?
