I'm feeling that the WRC is becoming better and better. Look at the variety of cars and WRC cars that were there. It's nearly like the old days, great footage.
There's no ABS, ESP or launch control in World Rally Cars. There are no driving assists allowed in the WRC. The reason the cars have so much grip is due the AWD and the front and back spoiler (aerodynamics).
Well next year we're going to have five different WRC cars, we have four already. Of course if would be great if we could get eight manufactures like in the 2000 WRC season, but we have to wait. This big manufacturer interese in WRC nowadays wouldn't have happend with the old WRC regulations (1997-2010).
We could have add prototypes built just for WRC all in carbon fiber with 500HP with newer all top of the line technology, and would still be a lot safer than in the 80's. The organization is now better, I know it cause I worked on rally's from my area (but was a hell of booring). No matter what, in the 80's there used to be thousands and thousands of people everywhere. Now I see like 10 here, 10 there... And the reason are mostly the cars.
Seems like you don't appreciate the hard work and effort the drivers/co-drivers and teams put into the sport. Please try driving a WRC car with 200kph through the woods, without knowing how the next corner is going to be. And rally cars nowadys are also like the WRC cars from 1997-2010, they'll have around 300bhp, a turbo engine and AWD. And seems like you have never attended a WRC event because the sounds of a WRC car (especially the Polo R WRC) are freakin awesome.
Also you tell WRC is improving... Back then I saw hundreds and hundreds of people that I couldn't even move easily... Nowadays at least here, there's just like 5 people here, another 5 there... And most of the people crazy by cars like me that I talk to, they say the same thing, why bother going to watch the same piece of crap rally again. That's why there's more and more people on the rally day after it, than when it's goin on. Doing burnouts, donuts, drift, fast turns with normal cars
Actually I don't see much danger in that as everyone can control a rally car, specially a nowaday rally car full of electronic controls (just of course doesnt mean they would make good time and speed against a real pilot). However what danger is in there when people nowadays go down the mountain with a single para-glider and some open it up right near the ground (anything that fails = DEATH). And even the island of TT is for balls of steel only, and not much people can go fast in a bike.
Well group B cars was just a complete custom chassis with just a little frame above it. I bet the car could even be made of just air and would still pass :). About nowadays WRC, i know there's no TCS and other helps, but they use it in other rallies from nowadays. They use launch control only as far as i know, but the cars of nowadays for me ain't funny or sound any amazing (they killed the good subaru's and lancers which were the only one with a different sound at all and looked amazing).
Some of this year the rally of my area (not WRC) was worth it just because a team brought the good old toyota corolla as a rally car, and they were really going fast inches on one side, and inches on the exit too. And the best is that he was doing a lot of show, however he wasen't competing because there isn't that category, there are only shitty S2000 and blahblahblah crap modern model cars from nowadays. Even Bernardo Sousa was kinda cheating by bringing his Lotus Exige R-GT to the rally...
Nope, WRC marketing isn't the best nowadays, i can't even find the 2012 WRC season review as a DVD. So many people or non-motorsports fans nowadays don't really know something about rallying, especially the WRC. When you go to Finland or Germany there a THOUSANDS of people, just more seperated. In the 80's everybody was at one spot, clearly not helpful for safety.
Prototype + carbon fiber + 500HP= LMP1 = Go watch WEC. We have all that stuff already. Oh, and do you think teams like M-Sport have the money for something like that? Think about it...
Group B had rules that went out of control. Actually the Group B cars weren't the really dangerous thing, it was the spectators, especially at Portugal. And WRC is dangerous, it's one of the last real motorsport tests. Again try driving a WRC car with 200kph through the woods, i don't think a kid could handle. Isle of Man TT is a completely different sport, don't compare it.
In Group B there was no rules... They banned Group B not just because of costs but also because it was dangerous???? They call it dangerous? WRC nowadays is for KIDS only when you have people going down the mountains with bikes, huge jumps, people doing wingsuit near the vegetation... There's even crazy bikes going uber fast on isle of TT on a dangerous road (it even put group B to shame). Anyway I stopped watching WRC for a few years already and I just loved it. Don't even go watch it more.
I know those LMP1 cars... They ain't rally cars... I bet as soon as they start loosing grip they will probably just spin around (at least if it's the kind of cars i'm thinking they are). If they don't have money like they say, then they better stop WRC than letting only "1 or 2" same model of cars competing with each other. I just wish there was so many WRC cars like it used to a few years back, then I would enjoy it.
Who do you mean investing what. The FIA is investing into the their as much as they can. Or do you mean the manufactures? Prototypes and F1 are more interesting for car manufactures because they offer high-end technology, WRC not. The WTCC is just the platform to compete in a pro world championship, but i think that will change with the new regulations coming for next year. Try to think realistic, motorsport is expensive not every sinlge manufacturer has the money for the WRC.
Ehm, the WRC were ALWAYS production modified cars, even the Lancer wasn't even a real WRC car, it was more a modified Group N (PWRC/WRC3) car. And if car manufactures are able to build cars from scratch, costs would get out of control and it would be to expensive, so less attractive for the other car manufactures. The FIA doesn't want that these cars are getting prototypes, that's not the point of WRC. We have these cars, Fiesta, DS3 etc. to reduce the costs of running them and it worked.
Super vidéo et merci pour le partage (pouce vert et un abonné lol), par contre, heuuu, les gens qui sont venu voir, pour certains doivent être suicidaire m'enfin bon...
Great, so you want to see drivers drive uncontrollable cars and facing death and accidents? Sorry, but i want to see racing, not crashes. And we're not living in 1986 anymore. We're now in 2013, and technology advances with time, so does WRC and any other kind of motorsport.
I never drove a rally car, but most people from the rally here goes pretty fast and they are all new pilots with those new crap rally cars. Now I wanted to see all of those new pilots driving a real H gearbox with clutch, no launch controls, ESP, ABS... Most would not even go further than the first turn. I prefer going with my friend on his 80's BMW E30 1.8cc than going to watch another repetitive same crap rally with same cars. Most people here also don't go to rally any more.
Yeah and you think it's great when so many people at one spot, like we had back in the WRC in the 80's? I don't want to see something like Portugal 86 happening. Rallyes nowadays are much more organised than before, especially in safety. Oh and Group B cars are based on normal cars, so you would say that the Peugoet 205 T16 for example is crap. And it's even a hatchback! Like the Lancia Delta S4 or the MG Metro 6R4. Yeah they're ALL crap...
Actually I don't wish death to anyone and about crashes I like them here on youtube, but don't like to see them on real life from close. About rally I would like to aprreciate a real rally with all kinds of shapes and sizes, not there goes a ford... there goes another ford, god damnit didn't I saw this before? Yet another ford goes......... Then back then there was no sequential gears on the wheel, you needed to be a real driver. Nowadays you need to be excelent to drive a rally car? NO!!!!
4 is a joke... I don't like F1, and most of the other races because it's just the same car and same track over and over. But always loved rally. But WRC seriously need like 20 or more different cars. They always say they don't have money, however they waste millions on other races like 24h le mans, prototypes, F1, WTCC and so many other races. For me none of them match WRC, so they better stop investing on the other races and invest more in WRC.
Watching WRC nowadays is like watching the rally here in my little island. Just piece of shit cars with bad sound going fast? (For me F1 is booring, but I think I would prefer seeing an F1 rally going faster instead of seeing just those craps called rally cars from nowadays that pass-by at low speed) I just wished I was from other country were there are still RALLY and way better than the crap called WRC There's still places with tons of cars of all type and they actually give a shit for time
Really? Ford.. another ford... didn't i saw this ford before... Same for the citroen, volks and the few modern craps in the rally. We need rally cars, not 1 or 2 brands of production modified cars for rally. I couldn't even imagine if they actually build rally cars from scratch with all nowadays technology 100% free of creation, likt the old group B. ps: Miss the old subaru's and Lancers, and their sound. This WRC they all sound like the same PIECE OF SHIT (can't even hear ALS kickin in).
I'm feeling that the WRC is becoming better and better. Look at the variety of cars and WRC cars that were there. It's nearly like the old days, great footage.
Loeb is an absolute master. See the way he rarely ever uses any opposite lock and just guides the cars round corners. Bloody brilliant!
Love those VW rally cars !

Oh and did you ever drove a WRC car? Or why are you saying they're SOOO easy to drive?

And WRC back in the days didn't have hatchbacks or what? Even the big amount of Group B cars were hatchbacks. Don't see the problem.
Also you tell WRC is improving... Back then I saw hundreds and hundreds of people that I couldn't even move easily... Nowadays at least here, there's just like 5 people here, another 5 there...
