- In this online lesson, Pamela tells an intermediate level Spanish story about doing household tasks. She narrates the story in the past tenses, so you'll learn preterite verbs, imperfect verbs and house vocabulary as well as a variety of expressions appropriate for intermediate learners.

There are Spanish subtitles on all our videos, and English and Spanish on all the seasons of Buena Gente. (We made a video in basic Spanish to show how to turn the subtitles on: th-cam.com/video/n-594Ztjk4w/w-d-xo.html) Click on cc to activate the subtitles and then click on settings (the gear icon at the bottom right) and choose the language.
You can also open a transcript if that would be helpful. To open the transcript, go to the row below the title and click on the three horizontal dots ... (next to "save", at the far right). There is an option there to open the transcript and it opens on the upper right sidebar.

It's more mexican Spanish righ? I head spanish in spain and mexico use different past tense.
Yes, this is Mexican Spanish. You're right that in Spain they often use the present perfect tense in situations where in Mexico they use the preterite. So, you're more likely to hear, "Ya te lo he dicho " in Spain and "Y te lo dije" in Mexico. However, native Spanish speakers have no problem understanding the two tenses in any situation.
"Se lo dije"
But "Te lo dije" if it's someone you address as tú. It's just an example to explain the difference in tenses. 😊

Lavarse es un verbo reflexivo cuando se lava parte del cuerpo. Por ejemplo: Me lavo las manos. Pero en este caso, hay un complemento directo (a direct object) - la taza. Si lavas otra cosa, no es un verbo reflexivo. Por ejemplo: Lavo mi ropa los fines de semana. o Tengo que lavar a mi perro. Many reflexive verbs can also be used as a verb with a direct object. Me despierto a las 7:00 (I wake up at 7:00). Despierto a mi hermana a las 7:15. ( I wake my sister up at 7:15). Hope that helps!
