"It was to create a world of peace, not to win positions of power, that we raised our swords and killed. If we forget that, then we are no revolutionaries after all."
- Himura Kenshin
Watching this anime was one the best moments in my childhood🥹
Every time I hear this track it reminds me of the scene from the anime when Kenshin is deciding if he should go to Kyoto or not, standing on the bridge peering out into the distance lost in thought. It is time I wander once more.
THIS is exactly the scene that comes to my mind too! I believe that part was at 3:39. One of my favorite moments in the show. That dialogue coupled with Kenshin on the bridge, Jinei talking to him, and the closeup of his sharp eyes staring into the sunset was just so perfect. This anime really had the feels that I think the new one just won't be able to replicate.
My fav part is 4:04 where kenshin... Aoshi... Kauru and yahiko all of them crossing paths at the same time yet they don't see eachother in kyoto. The moment is like... "oohhh shiitt mann..."
Rurouni Kenshin is actually the story about how the industrialization of warfare completely made the notion of the samurai obsolete.
Even when the best samurai in this show were using swords they were still catching up with the times having huge warships and gatling guns to impose further military unrest to see their agendas are met or worse the government imposing it's authority worse on other people
I know S3 is non canon but even Kenshin begins to see the writing on the wall. Peace is not only unobtainable it's extremely unrealistic. The only real hope is to continue just being a good person and hope that positively inspires the next generation to not wanna end up like the last
I have never watched a TV series or anime with such beautiful music in my life.
I remember watching this series as a kid I was 10 going on 11 years old it has a special place in my heart
I understand u bec i m same, but only difference that i was 11years going on 12years
Same. It was one i always looked forward to watching when I could. I just ordered the whole series from Ebay so I could relive it anytime I wanted to, much like i've been doing with a lot of anime I remember seeing growing up.
everyone talks about soujiro. But they all forget about Aoshi when he witnessed the slaughter of the oniwaban group. Or Sanosuke Sagara watching his idol get gunned down in front of him, so they could serve as scape goats. Kenshin being cut down by shishio. Lady magodalia being shot by shinto while sanosuke watched helplessly. There were many sad moments in this anime. Moments that left you feeling horrible, which is why it is so memorable to everyone who appreciated and watched loyaly.
People talk about Sojiro not because he suffered the most gruesome backstory. Its because it was the sole thing that he lived in his entire life. There was absolutely no one who ever truly cared forr him outside of Shishio's lover. Not even his own master ever liked him. That sounds absolutely horrible, just imagine having no one to ever like you from your birth to your 16s.
Some people doesn't appreciate the anime because they talk too much in fight scenes, but who cares about that if the anime can give you a show rich in story and life lessons
Because this show is amazing man, Kenshin will make you want to become a better person.
I started growing my hair at 15 because of Kenshin. Still am at 36 years old. Whenever I have to tie it back, I think of him.
"A man slayer is a man slayer until the day he dies. There's no doubt that battousai is forever a part of my true self; destined to only live and breathe in the heat of battle. The times are drifting by again, and they're no longer allowing me to remain still... like they used to."
I wish funimation or crunchyroll would upload some clips of this show.

2023 and still reminds me of when that man on the bridge was asking kenshin after all this time all these years past are you okey with puting down the sword or is it you can never let it go like me.
i so much wish they bring back this ost in the remake of the show! T0T
Lets all take a moment and appreciate the emotions and energy the composer (composers?) gave to this fantastic chapter in this anime. This music is as important to me as John Williams score is to Jurassic Park and Star Wars.
LukasAlex agreed: it is a key component for the show and the character Kenshin
Im so emotionally attached to this show, to this day , so nostalgic , it makes me cry
Me too, man. Im not 100% sure why. But I love it on a higher level
Same here, Rurouni Kenshin is literally my childhood. Can never forget such a timeless classic!
1:08
"The Reason why obey the government as an undercover agent is so that i can rip the world of scum that feasts upon it
As the Shinsengumi of the meiji era if anyone including okubo allows greed to overcome and tries to bring misfortune to this country then they would be tied under our law which states that "Evil Must be Eradicated".
"You can train a dog with food
You can buy a person with Money
But there isn't a Man alive able to influence The Wolves of Meibu"
-Hajime Saito
I watch it over and over...just random episodes every now and again
Rurouni Kenshin is one of the best anime. A truly History.
Man this ost is beautiful
This is the best epic soundtrack of all animes! It’s kind of a time passage to the past when the glorious animes could be seen in TV
very dramatic. I hope they make live orchestra for Rurouni Kenshin ost. salute to the music artist.
Even in 2020 it hits you in the feels .. 04:02 best part brings back memories
Even in 2023 the nostalgia hits harder than a semi going 90 on a freeway
It's just a matter of opinion bro.To me, it made sense that Kenshin had very deep wounds from his past. The ones he killed, the one he cared so much (Tomoe);love, sadness, betraying, death, all this connected and concealed inside his heart. It felt real to me;sad as hell, but real.To wrap up,the OST is just top notch.
Don't worry. Is just some dust in my eyes. I'm not crying !
The piano version was even more sad when it was running on certain parts of the show.
i love this song it's full emotion rurouni kenshin is the best
This series is classic one of the best animated amd magna ever made great story and characters
kenshin is by far the best great art, excellent music and gripping story lines laced with factual history. I actually enjoy naruto, dragonball, one peice etc... but the eight episode fight scenes are a bit much. This mix brings back great memories.
Iam all time favourite anime & never be replace in my heart ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This music really gives off the fell of responsibility, which we all must face head on. It's commitment, duty, even if means leaving things behind, such as family, and for someone who's going to be in a few years be leaving my family and friends, to go to an university far away from home, really touches me
Cringe. Going to university doesnt need this epic music. Its for people whos going to war.
Kenshin... I need you...
I remember the time as a kid I would take a stick and sword fight with my cousin but the time has been changed... He goes on his own way... I go on the way I was going few years ago.
Kenshin you told me how to fight.
You showed me the right way I shall go in my life... I lost everything... Only memories... And only them, who knows maybe the time will be same again or maybe worse.
But one thing for sure will be the same I will survive... Thank you Kenshin... Thank you so much.
It's beautiful and sad music! The past story of Sojiro with this music makes me sad.
such permanent, timeless awesomeness.......
i compleetely agree with you ..the story ,the tecniques, the romanticism. that is the ingredients of a great story very very well made
Cuando Le Puse Play Al Video Y Empece Ah Escuchar Este Sonido Me Hizo Temblar Y Se Me Puso La Piel De Gallina Es Realmente Hermoso Al Oido
best emotional ost
the golden age of toonami as i call it
Every slash of sword triggers the sadness and pains of the heart.
You could say Berserk(manga) is brilliant.GTO(anime) is worth mentioning too.But RK is,without doubt, top class.Have you ever watched the Seisouhen OVA's.It's so sad,but so epic at same time,it gave me chills down on my spine.
Kaoru and Kenshin missed each athor on busy street same as Misao Aoshi
This is sad. It reminds me of soujiro for some reason (only people who had actually watched this anime would know who I am talking about.) His childhood was so sad..
honestly, his family deserved what he served them. He could have been a great protagonist, but I can't blame Shishio, his family took his innocence waaaaay before the he showed up.
amazing song. this shows the deepness of ruroni kenshin in one 5 minute ost! also amazing job of uploading.
This theme is played when Kenshin is going to finally face Shixio and remember all the events with lead to that moment
only Kenshin(character) and his personality is enough for making this anime way better than any others
Just watched the whole series after many years, sooo awesome!!!!! And after listening to this song I just have to watch it all over again! Thank you very much!
The only show from my childhood that seems to have aged well.
Love you Andres, hope you win the war going on in your mental. If you ever see this know you still got your little brother with you. It’s never too late
The best song from a OST ever!
This theme gives me chills
I associate this more with the time Cho attempts to attack the father of the child, while Kenshin is fighting him without a sword.
it reminds me how life so painful like soujiro when no one can understands him even his family how sad life is
This song echoes through the unsightly turbulence of the present age as to proclaim that no matter the era, as long as the passions exist, the seething malice that precipitates bloodshed and tragedy will remain a constant in history.
When ever I hear this I fell like I am middle of war it gives me chill in spin even now I can't explain my feeling when I hear this song
Seriously if Kenshin isn't the best anime-manga ever then which is???? OMG LOVE IT :D:D
ohhhh it´s so beatiful song..... es tan hermoso escucharlo cuando estas solo en tu habitacion........
How nostalgic...
I saw the anime when I was a child and I loved it; now I'm reading the manga with the ost of the anime, because it is awesome, like Kenshin!!
Such an amazing track
I was looking for exactly this track! Thanks for uploading!
My childhood just rammed me hard up against the wall with this OST.
Who the fvck is cutting onions right now????
Kenshin is the best Samurai of all anime,Gintoki from Gintama is second
@@gerardoramirez2889 I'm glad someone remembers, I actually associate both Kenshin and him, as well as Vash as something common
I have like a bunch of tracks of samurai x!! i don't know their names but i love them all and they bring such cool memories :D
last time i checked youtube i would be lucky to find this jewel of OST, i was impressed for the lack of videos.....but i'm glad that there are so many now! the movies and the latest ovas made their work to revive the series
Great Score!
Man I didn't know all of this musical segments from different parts of the show, were part of one just track.
when Lord Okubo killed by Seta Soujiro on May 14 and the Group of Ichihagawa claimed they kill Okubo.
Thank you!
una pieza maestra!!!
:'( ...this song it's beautiful. Really feel like some a better person...
One of the saddest songs but love the show made me have so much feels T_T
This anime and its story, made me who I am.
The remaster didn't have this in it idk if its a copy-right thing but damn it was surely missed
Ps. If anyone can edit this into the remastered version that would be nice
It's not a remaster, it's a remake. Also, I will try to edit the whole thing if they release Blu Ray's with 5.1 sound
mi infancia T_T
if u never once tried your hardest for others to approve of your existence than u truly need a beating to life again i can relate to both person kenshin living n making a better life out of his sins naruto working hard that others will see his true existence kenshin has meaningful words touching lines same thing as naruto. they both live different storylines.... n even if u like naruto less then kenshin please dont downgrade the two anime. liking one is fine, but putting down others is not ok!
also when he says goodbye to kaoru
sounds like tenchu for me, imagine how rikimaru and kenshin duel, whos gonna be the winner?
noriyuki asakura always the best composer for feodalistic and classical japanese theme.
I believe it's actually the reverse.
If I recall correctly, some songs in Tenchu were directly influenced by Kenshin.
But I could just be remembering it wrong!
But Kenshin has served for inspiration for the following:
- Baiken from Guilty Gear is basically a Genderswap of Kenshin.
- Last Blade 1 & 2 was strongly influenced by Rurouni Kenshin, even has a character who uses Battojutsu stance whose heavily inspired by Kenshin, characters that look almost identical to the following; Saito, Shishio, Fuji and more.
Hopefully this will inspire you ^^
I've made drawings and written a few stories myself, some people think it's crap, some people love it. That's life.
This is much like a shattered glass, we all see it from a different point of view, we can't say for sure ours is the right one, we can only assume that others might not see it the way we do.
Basically, you're not wrong nor right. But everyone's different so it's likely you might find a couple million people that could piss you off. There's no point in stressing one or 2 of em.
it changes the way i think about life and people
Epic
You really got me there for a moment lol.Yeah,I did watch. Both OVA's show us a different Kenshin. It's something on the lines: anime Kenshin = shounen; while OVA's Kenshin = seinen.I think Tomoe's death was the worst wound in Kenshin's heart. It was the cause of the infamous scar, you know? Pretty fuck3d up what happened. It was his first love man.Just sick.
ya you are right to me is the same thing it's like looking at the world in another way or something
Always reminds of the scene where Kenshin was on the bridge lost in his thoughts of Okubo's death and the impending chaos that would come if he doesn't do anything. Jinei telling him that he's a manslayer till the end, and the closeup of his sharp eyes staring into the sunset at 3:39 onwards was just so perfect. This anime really had the feels that I think the new one just won't be able to replicate.
You hit it on the head. The new one DIDN'T replicate it. And the OST in the new one is trash, especially when compared to this version.
💯
I’m watching the new remake of Kenshin and it’s around this spot at the moment and it’s good but man the OTS is undefeated
I wonder if the same can be felt when Shinzo Abe was murdered?
@jw7665 actually it's pretty good but it was unfortunate to have a predecessor such as this
