      We need a law that puts a cap on how much taxes they can charge and makes it illegal to run deficits. That would tie the government’s hand and force them to be responsible with our tax dollars.

      @FreedaPeeple-in2mn If someone works hard their entire life, saves and invests their money that has ALREADY been taxed at 50%, now the government wants to FURTHER tax the gains that you have made on the investment of your post-tax money.
      What incentive is their to save and invest your money?

    • @Mackeul
      @Mackeul หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Not quite. Currently, capital gains have an INCLUSION rate of 50%, meaning that 1/2 of capital gains are not taxed, and the other half is taxed. The change now is to make that inclusion rate 2/3, so 1/3 not taxed and the other 2/3 taxed, this only for gains above $250k (I believe this is yearly, not lifetime?). Also, for Canadian Small Business corporations investments, you have a maximum lifetime amount of gains that you don't pay any tax on (last time I checked that was $750K but it has apparently increased now). I'm not happy about the tax increases either, nor with the extra spending, but I think it important for everyone to understand how this aspect works.

    • @christiand1244
      @christiand1244 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@Mackeul thanks for the explanation. So the success of our small business is limited to 750K. I don’t get why we can’t trust Canadians to handle their money, which they earn with sweat and tears.

    Is the balance fiscally responsible? No, it is absolutely not. This is the ninth year in a row that our government has run a deficit. There isn't any other way to look at it.
    Another point is that every such year, the government also overshoots the debt, which ends up being worse than the already bad projection.
    I am very sorry, but our finances have totally disengaged from reality, and the younger generations are the ones who will have to pay all that debt at the cost of the standard of living.
