The railway bridge of Ahladokambos is located in the Peloponnese on the border of the prefectures of Argolis and Arcadia, on the railway line Corinth - Tripoli - Kalamata of OSE, at the kilometer position 90 + 144. The study of the bridge was prepared by the design office "Chronea-Kinatou-Pagoni", while its construction was undertaken by the Greek technical company "Pantechniki SA." and the civil engineer L. G. Papaikonomou. Construction work began in 1970 and was completed in December 1973. The first train crossed the new bridge on December 22, 1973, and was officially inaugurated on February 16, 1974.
The German troops leaving Greece on September 9, 1944 destroyed the existing bridge. For the next thirty years (1944-1974) the railway connection of Corinth and Tripoli at this point was made by variation of the route (bypass).
The bridge is made of prestressed concrete. It is 279 meters long, 5.5 meters wide and rests on twelve pedestals. The nine middle openings of the bridge are 26.5 meters long, while the two ends are 25.75 m and 14.75 m long. Total: 9x26.5 + 25.75 + 14.75 = 279. In the middle of the ravine the pedestals are 64.8 meters high.
The pedestals were built with the help of a sliding formwork, ie with a 1 meter high mold, the use of which started from the foundation of each pedestal and was continuously raised, resting on the already constructed part of the pedestal. The bridge carrier was constructed similarly, without the use of the traditional "mold", but with a special iron stretcher, which rested on the top of the already prepared pedestals, without intermediate support. After the laying and setting of the concrete was finished, the stretcher, reduced to a degree, rested on special rollers and within a few hours was pushed to the next opening for concreting. With this process all the openings were made to the end.
