Very interesting. I just found your videos and they are great, especially since I have some interest in learning cajun fiddle. I'll have to check out your website, I guess, to find out more about cross tuning. I played bluegrass years ago in New Orleans and was at a festival playing where the next band was a Cajun band. The fiddle player told me I should play Cajun fiddle, it's easy he said, just tune to _ _ _ _. All I remember was C#! For years I have wondered what the tuning was. I play Black Mountain Rag tuned to C#AEA (low to high strings). Maybe that's what he tuned to?
Hey, Scott! Typical Cajun tuning is a whole step down so it's DGCF. You can play Indian on a Stump in that C#AEA tuning. Check out this video for more info on Cajun Tunings and let me know if you have any more questions!
Loving what you do Mitch! I blame you for inspiring me to get another fiddle so I won't have to twist them pegs for my Cajun fix!! Ha Ha! Also, what's your feeling about geared pegs?
So much knowledge!! Thanks for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Mitch, I do love your playing pal! You get the best tone out of your fiddle. Hello from the N.C. low country
Fanstastic video!!! Thank you very much for that!
Thanks for watching, Robert...I really appreciate the great feedback!
Wish you had a CD with just fiddle and drums.
I have a CD with just fiddle called Fast & Slow. You can see the full description and order it here: mitchreedmusiclessons.com/shop/
