Presumably, the reason why the AI and rendering stop working was because the game logic is contingent on being in proximity to the player entity
Since the player technically doesn't exist anymore, it would be identical to being in an unloaded chunk
does that meaqn if u load a new chunk it wont load?

That is the reason, if you get like a chunk loader block mod then it will still be there, also it's basically doing a ever unloading game

Had this happen in a mod my friend was working on. He added a bottle of nitroglycerin that explodes when dropped. To ensure it didn't explode every tick, it was supposed to delete itself when it exploded. However, somehow instead of despawning the item dropped, it deleted the thing that dropped it.
It genuinely thought it was going to be a rick roll

Basically it's the 3 seconds you have before you disconnect form the server
I mean if you despawn you go in a "despawned dimension" that is like the normal dimension but you can't attack, but I'm not expecting that you can mine!
be in a multiplayer and dispawn yourself, the other player would probably see you as a ghost in inspector mode or non-existence in the world it self and probably disappear in the tab list

From this, what I’ve concluded is that de-spawned mobs are sent to “a different plane” or something like that. Though, from how normal despawned mobs act (in un-loaded chunks that loaded block and not entities) is that AI is also turned off while unloaded as well

As far as the game is concerned, the players vision is always there as its a clientsided, the world on the world is also gonna be staying there as you dont despawn the world.
Despawning yourself makes the game think your character isnt there so it gets removed, even the nbt data that makes mobs react to the player :)
This happened naturally once from a machine built on 2B2T. It became known as the Immortality Machine because having their player entities despawned made them invincible. However, it was not able to be replicated.
the reason everything dissapeared is because of chunk generation, if there's no player nearby nothing needs to be there, but since you're there anyways everything isn't loaded anymore but you can still hear the sounds, they won't move or attack anything until you rejoin
The chunks are there, and loaded. The simulation isn't, so mobs don't have ai, or anything.
Steve has secret uno reverse card and when you try despawning him, he despawns everything else. That's hilarious!

To test that in split screen to also see if invisible despawn player's could see each other & to see if online gameplay diffiers to, it could be an advantage to pranking friends.

i tried this in an older mcreator version for minecraft 1.12.2 and when i despawned my camera would shake violently and it was rotated about 45 degrees. I also couldn't respawn until i restarted the world.

It looks like you were teleported to another dimension called the despawn land. You cannot see any mob including mob in despawn land. You can spawn them but you cannot see them. To leave, just spawn yourself in.

Basically, Minecraft spawns entities around the player. If you die, you will also despawn and if there is no player around you when you die, all mobs will dissapear after about 1 second on the death screen. Here you just did the despawn part without dying. And Minecraft optimizes by despawning entities that are too far away from the players.

Some time ago i messed with fake packets and entities and i somehow "disconnected" my client from my player entity. I was still online but couldnt move or look around. As if my playerentity got despawned
