I met Vinny once at a show in Boston. He is the coolest, nicest guy really and I could just sense the NYHC surrounding him.

I have a lot of respect for you Vinnie. You are one of kind. I have been into your music since 1989. I was 14 years old when my friend Sean Kelly gave me a copy of Cause for Alarm to listen to. I loved it and it sealed the deal for me to keep listening to your music even today when I am a 47 year old metalhead who loves NYCHC. I have long since passed down my love of NYCHC to my son Ian who is now 24 and he attends many hardcore shows.
Man, your music got me through my youth. Now it gets me through the gym. The NYHC family is like no other....a family with a bond that nothing can shatter.

agnostic front, everybody gets hurt, warzone, fury of five, sick of it all, leeway, youth of today, biohazard, gorilla biscuits, judge, sworn enemy, h2o, all out war, fahrenheit 451
Cro-Mags, Agnostic Front, War Zone, Madball, Sick Of It All, Murphy's Law, Life's Blood, Youth of Today, Shelter, Gorrilla Biscuits, Backtrack, Terror, Trapped Under Ice, All Out War, Civ, H2O, Vision of Disorder, Bold, Skarhead, Hatebreed, 25 ta Life, Pro Pain, No Redeeming Social Value, Billy Club Sandwich, Subzero...
Some of these are Straight edge some aren't but all are definitely hardcore. Then there was the hardcore/thrash-metal crossover stuff like MOD, SOD, Nuclear Assault, DRI, and Biohazard who all gravitated a little more towards thrash metal but were born out of hardcore influences and deserve to be mentioned. Lastly there's three more bands that some will argue aren't traditional New York hard core but I think (and many will agree) were front and center in the new york scene back in the 80s and 90s and are more than worth a listen and most certainly earned their place in NYHC: SFA, Citizen's Arrest, and Born Against. Theres a lot I didn't list here but I think this covers the basics across the spectrum and shows that the melting pot quality of New York City even applies to the hardcore scene.
