- There is no 'Before' footage showing this machine running before any work on it at Performance Classics was undertaken, but the machine had apparently been jumping out of gear and the owner wanted a remote oil filter fitted. The machine also had the benefit of a full oil change, oil tank washed out, valve clearances, carburettor and ignition timing all checked and attended to as required, as well as a new alternator rotor in place of the sloppy original. After all that, it appeared to go quite well, a rather enjoyable machine around the more minor roads and lanes.
There's something unique and special about the sound of a Triumph twin. I stood out on the Derbyshire hills last weekend (in the horrible weather) helping out on the MCC Edinburgh Trial and it's always nice to hear a Triumph; instantly recognisable as one comes up the hill. And they make very good trials machines!
Love the unrestored patina. It's not often you see an "everyday" classic bike now. They were everywhere in my youth.
That wear looks like it had been going on for a while. That was a long ten minutes but you can be forgiven with a fun machine like that. Good job as usual and nice to see a JPS making a cameo appearance.
I had a '68 T100T back in the day and did a 95 mile round trip commute in and out of London on it for a year or so. Never let me down. Cracking bike in traffic. I now have a 72 T100R and that's a real blast on the country lanes and B roads where I live now. Totally different bike to the 750 (which I also have). The 500's need revving but the gearbox is a delight - very light and easy change, but could do with a 5th gear. That 8" twin leading shoe front brake is superb when properly set up - as good as the front disc on my '73 TR7RV.
Damned nice run Paul. I always liked the 500s, a lot more fun up the rev band than the bigger engines. Yet still plenty of grunt down low. We don’t see many here in the States.
Cracking bike, the smaller twins have a real charm.
Great run out motor sounded spot on good to see it running with its original points set up. It went up and down the box lovely 😊.
Very enjoyable 👍
Thanks 👍
What a terrific bike! Thx for sharing her with us, I really enjoyed that. I would love to have a lane way like that road near me.
Glad you enjoyed it!
What a ripper best running bike you’ve tested for a while Paul👍🏼Sounds sweet.
Thanks!
Superb ride, bike is running beautifully. I had a set of pipes made up like that, with a heat shield Triumph Tiger Trail 750. Marvellous bikes.
Wish my lawnmower sounded like that. Thanks Paul.
Nice to hear the T100 "on song".
Great double bill of films. Realy enjoyable as ever .thankyou
Hi Paul my t100 as is slipping out of 3 and 4 now got progressively worse no problem when in top and changing down, base gasket weeping a bit as well will need sorting. The bike sounds great
My wife says...I always know when it's you.
great litle bike. Sounds strong
Great job as usual Paul. Is the JPS coming in for some work?
Thanks Russ. The JPS belongs to my mate Dave, who helps out occasionally. He lives some 30 miles from me and has owned the Norton for more than 30 years.
Is it possible even feasable to reclaim the worn gear shaft. Eventually there will be no spares.
I suppose they could be built up and refaced, but for now that would probably cost more than new replacements which are still currently available.
Nice Triumph what's your take on the Concentric carb on these are they better than a monobloc?
Hi Paul, the Concentric carbs are ok and can work well enough, but I prefer the Monoblocs and MK II's.
@@paulhenshaw4514 Hi Paul yes I heared there was a deterioration in quality and there were various problems with the Concentrics when they appeared late 60's they seem to suffer quick wear too. Have you tried a Mikuni for comparison performance and economy? I hear the Cubs run smoother on a Mikuni compared to a Mk1 Concentric.
Where did you get the gearbox parts?
Burton Bike Bits, in the UK.
@@paulhenshaw4514 Thanks!
Lovely bike.what size is it?
Thanks, it is 500 cc.
Oh no, there's grass in middle of the road riders, we are going to get lost.
