Thanks for the video. I'm trying to connect the Ronalds CS-10EM binaural headphones. I placed the red 3.5 mm minijakc on the Y connector (2 normal output jacks) to record each channel separately and put the black on the headphones. In this way, I hear a background noise that increases when I increase the gain. Phantom is connected and configured with 12 V because they are condenser microphones. I do not know how to eliminate this noise. I need to record with these headphones. Any information will be useful. Thank you.
This is a FANTASTIC video - thanks. I’m a podcaster looking to record interviews in the field. And I plan to record direct to the SD card inside the H6 (i.e. I won’t have access to my computer while recording). Each interview will feature several interviewees. And each interviewee will have their own dynamic microphone - and will be recorded on their own unique channel on the SD card. Once recording is done - and I’m uploading the recorded audio from the SD card to GarageBand, will each interviewee’s channel appear as a separate audio file on the SD card? If so, do I simply create a separate track in GarageBand for each interviewee - then drag that interviewee’s SD card audio file into their unique GarageBand track?
Thanks for this. Very thorough guide. I'm wondering if you can keep the AA batteries in even while plugged into a power bank, and if the device can automatically draw power from the batteries if the usb cable gets accidentally detached from the power bank, as I imagine could happen especially when you're mobile.
Thank you very much I am still confused about a few things. First the folder naming. How do you use thses folders? And the second question is can you record a synthesizer like a XP-50 Roland directly via guitar jacks?
Can’t speak to the folders as I don’t use them. I just record, export my files, and then format the card. Easiest way I’ve found to manage files And yes, the 1/4” inputs are great for instruments
Hello, I am a zoom meeting host - I will have up to two presenters 10 to 15 in room attendees and approx 15 people joining on zoom. We are currently using a single mic that is for whole room but it's not optimum and want to integrate 2 wireless lavalier mics and 2 stationary mics on either side of the room to pick everyone up clearly (some are very sofft spoken) will the H6 work with ZOOM ? Is this the best way? I have done rltons of searching and this seems like it will work, but need to know before purchasing
This video is invaluable! Just ordered my zoom h6, haven't even received it yet but eager to learn how all this recording stuff works. Around the 20 min mark in this video you talk about headphones (specifically the splitter vs the headphone amp) when multiple tracks are being recorded and everyone has headphones...if the microphone itself (mine will be ATR2100x but haven't received it yet) has headphone jack and we are each using same mic/headphone setup, can each person just plug his headphones into his mic? I really just want to know if I need to order a headphone splitter. Thanks in advance!!!
If you're recording onto the Zoom, you'll want to monitor the audio from the Zoom as well, so you'd plug the headphones into the Zoom H6. If you decide to use the ATR-2100 on your desktop or mobile device, then you'd plug the headphones into the ATR's headphone jack. Good luck!

Hello! I'd recommend not leaving batteries in your device for a long time, mine have leaked and I've been using usb charger ever since (without the batteries). The same reason I don't like rechargeable batteries.
Great video! Thank you so much. Question: I recorded the other night and pushed record but during the recording the numbers stopped reading so I figured we ran out of space. When I got home, I couldnt find the recording in any of the files. What do you think happened? I did not press the stop button which you showed clearly moves them to a new file every time you record and stop. What happened to my recording since I didn't press stop but I definitely saw the numbers moving during our session? Thanks for taking the time to answer me.
Did you format the SD card BEFORE starting to record? That could be part of the issue. Brand new SD cards need to be formatted first so that it matches the H6's file structure
Thanks for watching - it can, technically, but you must be careful with adapters for the iPhone - the way Apple has wired the 3 rings of a 3.5mm TRRS cable is unique. You may need to get a few different adapters and run some tests. I haven't used anything other than a lavalier mic as an input into an iPhone/iPad
Do you have a recommendation for a SDXC 64 or 128GB SD Card? What are you using and what would you recommend knowing what you know now? Great Video Thanks !!

Or would that top mic only be able to play/interface the music and i'd need a separate omni/directional mic to record the people at the table? Using this for a D&D podcast :) Thank you
Nice info! I just have one question, if I'm recording only using the H6 instead of it as an interface while logic is open, would I be having one separate file for each mic? Because I noticed that when you were in the USB option you chose "Multi Track"
Thanks for the great video! Question please: Do you find any need to use a Triton Fethead or Cloudlifter device to help amplify the signal while keeping the gain dial lower to help avoid any unwanted background hiss/humming noise from the H6 while recording? Some users say the preamps on the H6 are noisy and will use a Fethead or Cloudlifter for a cleaner louder signal. Just curious what you think about this. From my own experience from having the Zoom H6 for a short time, I notice a background humming noise if I crank up the gain dial past 6. I try not to go past 7 if possible.
I've only had to use a preamp when using mics like the SM7B that have a lower gain. I don't notice too much noise from the H6 in general, but when I record I'm normally using SM58s or ATR-2100s and they are louder than the 7B
Im new to podcasting so please excuse the uninformed question. Why use a Zoom H6 with SD card? Cant you use a 4 channel audio interface directly to your computer?
Depends on what your needs are. Each has their pros and cons. Using the Zoom H6, you get the portability of having an interface to work remotely, and can podcast on the go if needed. The only downside of this is compared to a home studio audio interface, you dont have any output channels if you would want to, for example, connect studio monitors or speakers. The Zoom H6 might also be a better choice for on-the-go videographers who want to record video while also capturing good audio using XLR mics, which wouldn't be possible if you only had a home studio audio interface. So in the end, it really depends on what your needs are.

I haven’t seen that as an option.
What did you use the Mackie Big Knob for?
I have my computer’s audio and my RODECaster audio going into the Knob, and then out into my speakers. Very nice and easy to control/switch back and forth
Superb review
Thanks!
So you saying it's not good to use the splitter?
Not recommended, no. It works but there are better solutions
I found out recently that the zoom HN4 only handles up to 32gig SD drives.
Does the H6 handle larger? Thanks...
Yes. 128gig
@@davidp6948 Brilliant! Thanks! Yet another reason to snag this one! :D
Mike Hind I believe I’ve used up to 256gb on the H6 but I couldn’t say for sure
Does this work with regular GarageBand?
it should, yep!
Is this better than the Motu M4 for Podcasting?
I've never used that unit, sorry!
@@thepodcastmasters ended up going with Rode Procaster and MKG Condensor Mic with Adobe Audition. Flawless so far updated my phone voicemail greeting super professional!
