I just qualified my S2 today and your videos are fascinating, I'm very much enjoying watching and taking notes for the future. The notes about Tower helping Approach achieve proper separation are at the top of my list.

Conoces los ejercicios y la FAA para curso básico de control radar. Cómo aprender a dar vectores y secuencias de llegada?

@@pushingtin207 I want to know how to solve some FAA exercises designed to give vectors in the basic training course. I look for information on the internet but I can't find it. I only have some pictures of the exercises but I don't know how to solveI would like to be able to send you the photographs to see if you can make an explanatory video

regarding the aircraft speed best max on the descent, it would be based on the weight of the aircraft and weather at the time, so I normally ask the pilot to give me their best max on desc speed. The figures are just a guide, but the pilot, given he/she knows the aircraft, should know how best to descent as quickly as possible based on the aircraft's performance weight and balance.

Aviation Chris ....the chart indicated is a guide...there's no hard and fast rules re speed.

Was wondering on what your thoughts were in the final chapter for level to issue descent to. I thought that the lowest level i'd be able to assign would be FL140 because i wouldn't have 1000ft with FL130.

Hi Oblitus...in re to your question..because the conflicting aircraft has LEFT FL130 AND on descent then that level becomes available to any other aircraft. By the time you give instruction for the other aircraft to descend to FL130 the other aircraft would easily have passed FL120 on his descent to 9000. Hope that clears it up.

my understanding props are issued radar vector departures ...

Not necessarily...like illustrated...the slower aircraft can have altitude restriction & keep him on the SID and get jet to take radar vectors...the point I am trying to make is many ways to achieve the same outcome

I'm a relatively new S2 controller but find your videos really helpful (although much of this one is for future use) so thank you for them. When controlling a tower and there is nobody above (ie. APP or CTR), is it valid for tower to request aircraft on final to reduce speed for separation if they are following another on short final to reduce the chance of a go-around?

Thx Justin...there's a ton more stuff re controlling that can be done and hopefully I will cover that with ongoing videos..once again thx for the comment

      Hi Justin,
In real world controlling in Aus. at Capital city primary control zones you'd expect the traffic handed to you, from Approach, to be properly sequenced such that no separation instruction from tower would be needed. In a Virtual environment, like Vatsim, that sometimes have Towers operating without ajoining controller support, it wouldn't be unreasonable for Tower to issue separation instructions within the Tower control zone especially in IMC. Also... it's the pilots responsibility to maintain separation OCTA as well, so you should expect them to be separated prior to switching to Tower but this may not happem as I'm sure you'd know already.

Sorry Justin i didn't answer your question...no you cannot give instruction to any aircraft re speed, headings etc ...the only instruction you can give is whether the aircraft can land ..if he can't then unfortunately you have to give go-around instruction.
