i lifted weights for many years, however,i added this to my routine,,and i will say that it hits your core and i have more strength from this than any dumbell workout
i completely agree im only 16 and i started lifting by myself at 11. when i got my iron gym i did a max of 2 wide grip pullups. now, after doing a slightly icreasing amount consistently over a long period of time i can do about 35 or 40 with ease at wide grip and 60 or so at close or neutral grip. as long as you work at it everyday or every other day and always go for a few more reps it will become easier and easier.
I bought a similar product and found out pretty quick that my door frame couldn't handle it; However, it's great for push ups if you turn it upside down. It allows you to go past the normal range of motion and forces you to use proper form for keeping the weight on your triceps . Love it and well worth the 22 dollars I paid for it.
The Iron Gym itself can withstand around 3000 lbs. The door would be your main concern. And it doesn't hang from the door frame itself, it uses the weight of your own body to hold it in place because the bar for pull-ups pushes in the opposite direction as the support thing on top.
i agree.. the Iron Gym is the best infomercial product ever.. be sure to get the ab straps too. Hanging leg raises builds 6 pack abs, i never do crunches or sit ups.
Its a SICK tool man. As soon as saw it at my mates yard, I knew I needed one. I'd take the 250 pound limit with a pinch of salt though bro. The metal can probably take it, but I dont know about the doorframe! Your probably STILL safe though, cos of how it uses leverage instead of all vertical force, so the weight is mostly pushing horizontally instead of resting everything on that tiny bit of wood LOL. Only had mine for a couple months and I'm already seeing them RESULTS!! BUY THIS THING NOW!
I want to buy one of these! I have no time to go to the gym more than twice a week and that really is not gonna do anything for me. The good thing about this is that it works out pretty much everything except legs (I'm sure I'll find a way to work that out). As the top comment said, you got a door, you got a gym. Now, I'll just have to see where I'll buy it. I don't think they sell it at WM here in Canada.
i just got myself one of these from ebay and it's arriving on 20 oct, so excited, perhaps it's because it's my first gym equipment i've ever got apart from weights and stretching bands
I appreciate this sort of clip. TH-cam is perfect for this type of info.My homeboy used to be bullied. He stated he was planning to get bigger. I chuckled at him. I didn't think he would for a second.... Right up until out of nowhere he packed on 40lbs of natural muscle mass. He tried the Muscle Building Bible (look for it in Google). He does not get bullied these days. I registered the other day. Not to mention this mans emails are fucking fascinating!
@DreceonHD Yeah, chin up will definately make them easier, since chin ups include your lats. The difference between the 2 is that Chinups takes more advantage of the biceps when pulling you up, compared to the pull ups where the biceps are much less involved.
I purchased the extreme 2 weeks ago and i couldn't be more realized with that, talking srsly. You can adjust its lenght with 3 different measures, deppending on the size of your door. I also found it pretty safe, it's all about physics. No way it can drop, unless you do crazy moves, like if u were having an epiletic attack while sustained, but, c'mon! The great of this... everytime I'm about to enter my room, I can't resist grabbing it and doing 15 pulls. At the begining I could do only 3 :D
This is a good work out piece especially if combined it with P90X. I actually bought this over a year ago and I only used it 3 times. But when I got the P90x it give motivation to really work out. You should try it too my man. BTW nice to see you making video again.
Hey, thanks for posting this video. Do you need that hook thing you have on top of your door frame to keep it in place? Or is that just something you added on to make it safer? I am scared of falling down, and i won't be allowed to put a hook on top of my door because my mums a bit of a 'tidy' freak, everything has to look 'perfect' in her house.
yh this things good ive got two and love em bought the second one for my bro....basically for pullups you can do 6 different grips and 3 pushup grips....put it on the floor of the door and do some crunches with foot support to finish..
I got one and I love it, 20$ at target there's a 30$ one that has no difference to it whatsoever i got the 20$ dollar one called the iron gym express but there is no difference except price :) i do push ups tricep dips calf raises pull ups sit ups oblique twists, alot of things with it, was it worth going to the store and spending 20$ heeellllz yesss
i got one 3 weeks ago. I have no idea how many your supposed to do for a really good work out. I do 3 pull ups, 3 chin ups, 3 on the bars that stick out, then i use it for push ups on the floor. as well as a few dips. this thing works the hell out of just about every part of my mid section back chest shoulders, all the way down to my forearms. any tips for a really good work out routine with it? good vid.
That last line i heard very often by Tony Horton. :) The chinups and pullups are part of my P90X program, now i have P90X2 and there's even more puillups but i don't evolve anymore, maybe i should try and do them more often outside my fitness routine so my body is confused, switching exercises is alwyas good i heard, it makes your body react in a different way and break through plateaus. It's not that i'm afraid of pain and hard work, but my body just fails at one point.
What about the "shoulder pull ups" or whatever there called. The ones where u hold the 2 handles at the side with palms facing forward. Is that a safe exercise? Every time I do it, my right shoulder (which is my good shoulder) cracks on the way down, which makes me think something aint right. It feels like my arms might be too long to get the proper range of motion or something.
I notice when you do your Over-hand wide grip pullups that your arms are rubing the door frame. Does it get in the way at all? Can you still do an effective Lat workout? its the only reason I would buy it... since working your upper back is the toughest to do without any equipment
didn't you put the little piece of metal to support the horizontal bar on the wall? You can see it on the video right above the brown part of the door. I will surely not support your weight, it's not design for this, but it allows you to put the Iron Gym in position without holding it before you exercise. If the piece was not provided with your Iron Gym, maybe you can find a spare piece in a DIY store for a very cheap price.
I just bought the iron gym (The one I bought is called Power Gym, but same thing) from Target. My door frame however is too thin. I live in a 50 years old apartment, so may be that's why. The width of the door is fine. It's the part that's coming out of the wall and where you place the horizontal bar. It's too thin and it falls down easily. I'll go return it tomorrow. I was really excited when I bought this. Great item, but not good for me. :(
I have no problems with the chin ups, and the one in the middle.. But when i do pull ups with the ones on the side, it's pretty hard.. Do you have any tips to make it easier? Will doing chin ups make pull ups easier?
I can't believe these comments. Pull ups do not work out your pecs or triceps. The only muscle groups pull up s work are the biceps, forearms, lats and a bit of your abs if you have them control. You people need to learn muscle groups and what works then. I can't believe he just said pecs. Pushups, dips, muscle ups, handstand push ups work out the pecs, triceps and shoulders. Never pull ups.
Agreed except hand stand pushups primarily work the shoulders and serratus anterior. It may hit some upper chest depending on the angle. People do need to learn basic muscle physiology so they know what muscles perform what actions.
You are mistaken. The use of a bar for either pull ups or chin ups exercises the whole of the upper body including the core. Your own body weight through isometrics affects your pecs and triceps.
Bodyweight exercises are great way to get ripped try to do some Different types of cardio like Swimming, running,Puching bag drills, also to lose weight. Iron Gym,is worth it.
@ 1:55 I can see that your elbows are touching the door - doesn't that put a limit to the movement ? How much weight can it hold and will it hang from a wooden frame on a plaster wall?
@imbobsaget umm, it can scratch off the points above the doors though, after frequent use, atleast thats what happened with me. It also indented the wood along the door frame a little bit. but besides that its pretty good. you can also use it for inclined push ups and sit ups
i've just got one... very useful!!chin-up, pull-up,dip, L-sit,ecc... I'd raise up higher when you do a pull-up. Your chest should touch the Iron Gym, it's just a suggest ;)
i bought this 5 months ago and its a good tool I can do 38 reps for push-ups and dips each 5 sets i struggle doing them around the 2nd set but thats a good sign am assuming
@Recon2146 I would keep it man. Door frames get thicker with age, so eventually it should fit. Give it a few years, and don't forget to water that door frame!
The problem I fear I might have is my elbows touching the doorframe as I pull up. What say you? Did the door frame get in your way at all when you were pulling up?
You remind me of Luis from GTA IV The Ballad of Gay Tony lol, and I just got the Iron Gym and I used it one time and my abs have been sore for 4-5 days, and I work out my abs a lot.
there's this review about p90x pull up bar vs iron gym, whats your opinion on it?? seems that the p90x bar can hold 500 pounds, but wtf, there's no 500pounds person who can even do a pull up. Still I'm thinking to buy that one because it looks more stable and looks like more variations are possible. It is more expensive though. So I need some advice which bar to buy
Actually, you said the opposite you can only get ripped with this thing i have been doing street workouts for a longtime and as a teenager i got ripped and a cobra back, but i didn't became huge or made any muscles much with this. i used Power bands and my biceps looks much bigger now. If you don't wanna Lift weights try Power bands they are cheap and effective.
It won't work on any of my doors. I haven't been able to do a push-up in many yrs anyways, so I put it on the edge of my door & it looks messed up, but Im careful & usually stretching my arms... Also practicing to be able to do a pull-up , then I'll be more comfortable doing pull-ups at the YMCA or at the park, MAYBE EVENTUALLY lol..
no man thats just what you think will happen but most people that train outside are cool. They know its hard at the beginning and only the greatest jerks will laugh at your 2 reps, so it doesnt matter what they say anyways. Make sure you greet people, a simple hi is enough, and when you finish and go home you say bye then everything else will be fine. If you share their passion for this kind of training you will certainly not be laughed at.
@michael753951 Just turn it round, you should be good to go. Only thing that can stop you, is if your doorframe is too deep (as in your walls are too thick), like mine are downstairs, but I think most doorframes are a standard measurement, as in the size that fits.
Oh, one more thing, maybe i can be of little help for you aswell, maybe you know them, maybe not, if not you might try Corncob pull ups, i find these the hardest of all, they are like diagonal pullups, but different, you do 3 moves, left, right, and back, hard as hell imo.
I don't even weigh much and my door handle broked. This thing is freaking dangerous. I've been using it for over 3 months. So eventually its going to break.
The door frame where you insert the safety wedge must be at least 1.5 inches thick, otherwise it will be too thin. You will need to mount it permanently.
yo get the iron gym xtreme i picked mine up at target for 29 and it comes with other features and has the ab straps, i got mine the day before yesterday
Okay maybe he's being a bit silly saying that you'll get muscles just using this, I'm sure he's well aware of the importance of routine and nutrition, plus a full ranged workout. Nevertheless, you can use your own body weight up to a point, and then you can get a weight belt to add weight. There is no effective free weight that is as useful as a pull up/chin up for your upper body, it's one of the important compound workouts.
I just got exactly the same iron gym a few days ago... but can't put it right above the door because my door is made up not very well... i can do exercises even with the gym putted a little bit different on the door, right?
He forgets to mention if you live in a apartment you're out of luck because the iron gym doesn't fit the door way only if you live in a house where the door are made for smurfs will this work not for big doors
I can back this up ive had one for years it hoids my weight and I weigh 14 stone it hasnt broke or damaged the door. I also use it for situps and pushups.
you can buy a pull up bar to be fixed on the wall with screws(it's more expensive)to train pull ups at home. And just don't give a fuck what people say.Or train outside in the dark if you're worried that much.True calisthenics folks won't laugh at anyone and we are glad to see new people becoming a part of the movement. We're one friendly, global family.Everyone else who'd laugh at you may just fuck off, don't care, just train and soon they'll shut their mouth.Good luck.
Hi! How is the middle bar attached? I mean, firmly. Because here, in Argentina, it doesn't have those two little things you have in yours, and I can see that mine moves way too much in that area. Please help!
i lifted weights for many years, however,i added this to my routine,,and i will say that it hits your core and i have more strength from this than any dumbell workout
Ripped my whole fucking doorframe off
Jesus Christ how much do you weigh?
i completely agree im only 16 and i started lifting by myself at 11. when i got my iron gym i did a max of 2 wide grip pullups. now, after doing a slightly icreasing amount consistently over a long period of time i can do about 35 or 40 with ease at wide grip and 60 or so at close or neutral grip. as long as you work at it everyday or every other day and always go for a few more reps it will become easier and easier.
This guy is actually very likeable. Even if he doesn't change the batteries in his smoke alarm.
Just bought one yesterday. Fits my walk-in closet perfect and assembled in about ten minutes.
I hope you changed your smoke detector battery! Good review though!
pretty much the best workout machine ever made with simple yet ingenious concept
this iron gym is a beast and it works like a charm
if you put it on the floor. you can use it for push ups so your wrist wont hurt. and you can do mini dips with it when it is on the floor
Got this for Christmas
Good to see a legit video showing use of this. Wasn't sure if it would slip, tear off the top of the door frame or something like that.
I use it and I've noticed it to. If anything it helps you stabilise so you're not winging all over the place.
The Iron Gym itself can withstand around 3000 lbs. The door would be your main concern. And it doesn't hang from the door frame itself, it uses the weight of your own body to hold it in place because the bar for pull-ups pushes in the opposite direction as the support thing on top.

BUY THIS THING NOW!
It will mark up, crack, and damage the doorframe and wall. I’ve used one and it does this on any wooden doorframe or wall. Use cautiously.
I want to buy one of these! I have no time to go to the gym more than twice a week and that really is not gonna do anything for me. *resistance bands*
Got one today for half price, boxing day FTW! I hope it fits in one of my door frames.
Its just the wood shifting a bit. It's the wood not used to the pressure. I don't think your frame is gonna give out on you :)
It all depends on your door. For the most part, its very sturdy.
Even if you dont have a door frame you can still put on the ground and do deep push ups and tricep dips
I appreciate this sort of clip. TH-cam is perfect for this type of info.My homeboy used to be bullied. He stated he was planning to get bigger. I chuckled at him. I'll get one tomorrow, i hope it helps me to get rid of my little extra-fat.
you must have some strong ass door frames in America, there's no way mine could sustain my 80 kg.
I broke my door😂 but I'm going to put it in the wall! 👌
it doesn't push against the door frame it pushed against the wall and the other side pushes the door frame but not to where it will break it
yh this things good ive got two and love em bought the second one for my bro....basically for pullups you can do 6 different grips and 3 pushup grips....put it on the floor of the door and do some crunches with foot support to finish..

I got one, It's the best way to save a some money at the gym. Thanks for sharing this video.
Yo man I have had a chin up bar like that for weeks that u had to screw it on. Got it to work thanks man.
Dude farts, sets off his smoke alarm.
What?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🔥🤣 2yrs later and this joke bangs !! Ffs hahahahaha
That last line i heard very often by Tony Horton. :)

What other uses? Exercise bands, TRX (rope gym
i got one of those awhile ago. i should probably start using it.

The Iron Gym pull up bar is defiantly worth it. good work out for your Lats and biceps some of your pecs muscle
i just bought one. i just hope it dont drop!
How was it
I have no problems with the chin ups, and the one in the middle..
But when i do pull ups with the ones on the side, it's pretty hard..
Do you have any tips to make it easier?
Will doing chin ups make pull ups easier?
I used Iron Gym and it's super effective.
Of course hand stand pushups hit the triceps too, as do all pushing exercises
Try doing wide grip negatives and then talk about not using ANY pecs
If leaning back your rear delts will be engaged during a pull up but for the most part you are spot on...
Iron Gym,is worth it.
it can hold up to maximum 300 pounds = 137 kg but i recommend doing it under 100kg
Your chest should touch the Iron Gym, it's just a suggest ;)
does iron gym work your chest if so what exercises should you do?
Your fucking smoke alarm made me go and disable every single one! I kept hearing that beep and thought I was going insane.
Thanks bro. Really helped. They sell this where I work. Gonna get one
Dude asking you a stupid question. How did ya fix the clamp above your door frame. I fixed my one up and on the first pull the clamp came off :P
i bought this 5 months ago and its a good tool
I can do 38 reps for push-ups and dips
each 5 sets i struggle doing them around the 2nd set but thats a good sign am assuming
@Recon2146 I would keep it man. Door frames get thicker with age, so eventually it should fit. Give it a few years, and don't forget to water that door frame!
Nice video..Can you tell me some lower belly excercises using this?
The problem I fear I might have is my elbows touching the doorframe as I pull up. What say you? Did the door frame get in your way at all when you were pulling up?
you forgot to mention that not only it works out your upper body it works really well for your abs.
If you don't wanna Lift weights try Power bands they are cheap and effective.
i like your under armour logo on the door
I've had it for years, used it on mulitple doors and it has never happened. Im thinking someway you may have caused it to break
Just got it today, great video!
no man thats just what you think will happen but most people that train outside are cool. Does this come with a video of different work outs you can do?
@michael753951
Just turn it round, you should be good to go.
Can you please tell me what protein is the best. i have mild cerebral palsy. and i really want to get stronger.
thanks
It totally transforms any door into a heap of rubble..........
I don't even weigh much and my door handle broked. This thing is freaking dangerous. I've been using it for over 3 months.
So eventually its going to break.
Get iron door frame like we have in europe
The door frame where you insert the safety wedge must be at least 1.5 inches thick, otherwise it will be too thin. You will need to mount it permanently.
is the door frame bearing the weight of our body? i still don't quite understand the weight distribution
saxopox I think it’s a combination of the door frame and it pushes against the wall due to the curvature of the bars
yo get the iron gym xtreme i picked mine up at target for 29 and it comes with other features and has the ab straps, i got mine the day before yesterday
Hahaha man I loved your vid you definitely should consider working for Tell Sell or something you're a freaking natural product promoter.
Okay maybe he's being a bit silly saying that you'll get muscles just using this, I'm sure he's well aware of the importance of routine and nutrition, plus a full ranged workout.

I gonna get this .. really nice ... Thanks Bro for the Video ... happy your back man
@Recon2146 If it does not work with any doors in your house, then yea, return it.
oh god why i didnt saw you before i have been long on youtube, subscribed
I just got exactly the same iron gym a few days ago... but can't put it right above the door because my door is made up not very well... i can do exercises even with the gym putted a little bit different on the door, right?
Thanks for the demo and info. Good video
I got this a couple months ago and i don use the meatle thing cause i lost and and it works perfectly fine for me and im right around 250
What if my door don't have that upper part? its just like a hole on the wall lmao (third worlder here) is there a product for me?
You could try the kind that goes in the middle of your doorframe. That's what I have.
how fast do you get pumped with that if you do it everyday the most you can pls tell me :)
The Iron Gym is just great! I have one. Also great for push ups.
We're one friendly, global family.Everyone else who'd laugh at you may just fuck off, don't care, just train and soon they'll shut their mouth.Good luck.
... Included in every happy meal
you just have to do the different pullup positions that are able to be done on the pullup bar dont just do the same muscle groups over and over
i have a question. how thick is the equipment? i am not sure whether it is the same size or less the size of my door frame.
Hi! How is the middle bar attached? I mean, firmly.
Because here, in Argentina, it doesn't have those two little things you have in yours, and I can see that mine moves way too much in that area.
Please help!
damn this video is 10 years old, but still relevant...weight lifting will never improve cause scientists dont workout 😂😂
