Hope you all had your fun there as it's in the process of being demolished. They started bringing in all the equipment over the past few weeks. I'll be glad to see it go.......
Hey gunner the county home moved to Ballston Spa. The reason it is a wreck is due to attempted remediation before redevelopment. She was stripped but all the non structural components were pyrobar.
I live in the brown house next to this place and yeah it's creepy but not haunted, its in ruin, as the caretaker it is a big pain to fix the fence, and the boards every time people trespass, and the dogs are Rotty's and they don't like stranger in their turf, yes the inside of the fence around the building is their turf. Also the sheriff and county cops are good friends of mine. but for your own safety, from the asbestos, holes in the floors, and many other things it's best to stay out.
Raphael Hamato I was just there a couple of days ago. I give you alot of credit for being the caretaker. My Mom and I were driving around and were coming back from Pleasant Lake. We saw the place and have to say WOW!!! We have a place at Lake Desolation. We never knew that this existed. I respected the fence and took a couple of pictures outside the fence. Then I hit the internet and found out more information, fascating! A piece of History which I hope will be perserved in some fashion. Unfortunately, as time goes by things are lost or forgotten. Learning about past History, was strongly influenced by the watching the Movie: Somewhere In Time with Christopher Reeves. Was an Awesome Movie which I still watch ever so often. It really intrigued me and gave me a sense of wishful thinking or a form of fantasy of the past. I like to put myself in the shoes of the past. In many ways, we would not be where we are today for not for the past.
