AFL is has a concussion policy. A player who gets concussed they must leave the field they need to do a concussion test before coming back on the ground. It's up to the club medicos to determine if he is able to come on.
Have you heard of a little game called ...... CRICKET lol. Yes, they do build oval stadiums for that and yes, AFL is played on Cricket Fields. BTW, no send-off rule in AFL, only reports being dealt with after the game. With tackling or body hitting (hip and shoulder, as it is called), you have to keep it between the knees and the shoulders. Any hit outside of that safe zone, such as to the head, will get you reported and if found guilty by the tribunal, then a certain amount of suspension time to be served out of the game can be expected. With scoring, you have 4 posts each end in total. Two large ones in the centre, with a smaller one either side. The object is to kick the ball between the two large posts without being touched, that is a goal and worth 6 points. If the ball is touched through hits one of the big posts or kicked between a large post and the other small post, that is called a behind and counts for 1 point. You then simply combine the total points scored, both goals and behinds for the total score :)
Hi both I know nothing about the AFL like yourselves. OMGOSH this is brutal, how can their bodies take such punishment, are there any rules at all??? Their bones must shatter like bags of biscuits. Thanks for the upload ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Yeah, it is brutal alright and even more so pre 2000's when concussion protocols rightly came in. Play will very rarely stop when a player (male or female competitions) goes down and players will reluctantly come off for a breather when instructed by the coaches. Players go to great lengths to hide injuries.
Brutal? Hahaha ... The title is "Biggest AFL Hits Ever" ... of course it's brutal LOL!. However, this is just one part of our great game. It is so much more than players knocking other players out.
You are watching the biggest hits video. Try the best Marks for fun. Thank you. If a player goes down the game doesn’t stop. Unless he is unconscious or in the line of play.
The skill level is a level above anything , as the variables and a high speed collisions , eyes only for the ball , that the hard bit , i takes serious courage to play this game ,
Nah mate, no such thing as sending anyone off the field. No mid game suspensions, red cards or sin bin. If you're injured badly, you have people on the interchange bench to help, but even that puts pressure on all players.
No send off blokes only free kicks , you can see in the old footage you can see the umpires signalling play on after the hits. as a Victorian kid in the 60's footy was life you get used to it. Cheers.
The AFL these days discourage "bumps" where the player goes for the man and not the ball. There is no send off rule, but players can get suspended from future matches where an umpire reports a player for a bump, depending on the severity and if the other player gets injured. Incidents get referred to the tribunal to determine the outcome.
These guys range from 5'8 to almost 7'. They're no overly bulky bcos of the speed & endurance. Most games last minimum 2 hrs. You should look at the best afl marks. Marking is spectacular, better than anything in any other game other than the speed of the game.
No send off rule , the advantage with an extra player is incalculable, 120 mins your average game , hospital ball , gotta sit under the ball till yah get hit , and a free kick , or mark it , the ball
You guys should watch and react to the video "A beginner’s guide to Australian Football", which explains all the rules and the setup of the league in a quick 5 minutes clip. React vids to this clip usually get a lot of views too.
@17.23 NON SENCE , when your team is in the lead "your glued" to the tv , look at What is AFL? VID THAT explains the basic rules for Americans. BTW , I'M an Aussie. thx
The trick to not getting injured is to attack the ball at 100%. If your opponent is only going at 80% they are the one's that will get hurt. It's an oval pitch because they are also cricket grounds in the summer. You can't get sent off, but you can get reported and miss a few weeks instead. Soccer is not popular here, this the most watched sport in Australia and 4th in avergae attendance in the world.
Defenders are allowed to protect their team mate/the ball from the opposing team by taking their opponents out within fair play - they don't have to go for the ball
It would be no surprise to learn that many Aussie rules players in later life suffer from a chronic concussion syndrome that leads to a type of brain damage … there is a lot to be said for helmets. The long term brain injury is a known risk but still no helmets. Not something we should be proud of
I take it you guys are English? Have you heard of a game called cricket? What do you do with the cricket ovals in winter? In Australia we use the cricket ovals in winter to play Australian football AFL
The game is Australian Rules Football, or footy for short. The AFL and its love struck media have definitely tried to Hi Jack the game and make it AFL only..... The AFL is the highest standard played and the leading competition, but still only a competition. The AFL is not THE GAME and hopefully never will be. The game is played on a cricket oval / ground. The game was invented by a Melbourne professional cricketer to help keep the cricket players fit and active during the winter / off season..... so the first game was played where the MCG ( Melbourne Cricket Ground ) is now located. As that was all parkland back then I believe the goal posts were a mile wide but after about a week , no one scored so the game was abandoned. They then set about writting some rules. lol
this a explain a little better th-cam.com/video/u_SqfNNfhmM/w-d-xo.html AFL they had a few bad ones but that most of them are actually been okay bumps. The season started on the weekend here which was Thursday here.
See, I'll never understand sport. I just don't get it. If you muted this and played the Benny Hill theme over the top, now THAT I could get. I'm not into sport, so it's nothing against AFL. I'd say the same about any sport really (cricket being my absolute least favourite of all, which as hubby and F-I-L were groundsmen for Glamorgan cricket club and worked on one of The Ashes Test matches, doesn't make me popular with the men in my family 🤣🤣🤣) Watching you pair is like watching my hubby and his mates together, with me rolling my eyes in the background 🤣🤣🤣 Joe Mangel?? Flaming hell, talk about a blast from the past!
AFL/rugby and American football all can have big hits but is the impressive throwing and catching skills that American football has that AFL/rugby doesnt have. And I won't even get not those silly-looking shorts afl player wear. At least American football looks cool.
The game does appear to be a mish mash of other sports, yes...... but it was the first codefied football competition in the world with the first 2 football clubs ever formed, maybe the first 3. Soccer did exist first but their was no organised competition and no soccer clubs...... it was a pastime or training sport of Athletic Clubs, but not Football Clubs. So..... The Melbourne Football Club was the worlds FIRST football club, and the VFA ( Victorian Football Association ) was the worlds first organised footy competition.
@@roostersbays95 Really ? So the Melbourne and Geelong Football clubs both come from Sth Australia then ? Yes, OR this one now - th-cam.com/video/u_SqfNNfhmM/w-d-xo.html It's a newer better explainer. And way less cheesy. Same official publisher.
The latest version on the official AFL channel is a FANTASTIC update.
@@melindakitto Second that! The latest video explains so much more
@steve smith
Thank you all for the advice, we will follow up with that soon to get a better idea of the sport.
Thanks
@Phunkmonkey Cookie Garage
That was funny, of course Cricket pitches, we didn't even click.
Thanks for all the information too.
Cheers
@@BritPopsReact lol, anytime boys :)
Sending off?? Made me laugh 😜
Best drinking sport for entertainment 😂🍻
Hi both I know nothing about the AFL like yourselves. OMGOSH this is brutal, how can their bodies take such punishment, are there any rules at all??? Their bones must shatter like bags of biscuits. Thanks for the upload ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
@Elaine Howard
They sure know how to bash themselves around.
That was brutal
Yes there are rules watch AFL Aussie rules explained
Yeah, it is brutal alright and even more so pre 2000's when concussion protocols rightly came in. Play will very rarely stop when a player (male or female competitions) goes down and players will reluctantly come off for a breather when instructed by the coaches. Players go to great lengths to hide injuries.
Great reaction guys. It really is a great sport. Have a look at the greatest marks
It's a cricket stadium.
cricket summer, afl winter
Brutal? Hahaha ... The title is "Biggest AFL Hits Ever" ... of course it's brutal LOL!. However, this is just one part of our great game. It is so much more than players knocking other players out.
@Carmel McShanag
We will be back with the suggested video of "What is AFL" soon.
Cheers
This must have been years ago has RULES have changed markedly
You are watching the biggest hits video. Try the best Marks for fun. Thank you.
If a player goes down the game doesn’t stop. Unless he is unconscious or in the line of play.
The skill level is a level above anything , as the variables and a high speed collisions , eyes only for the ball , that the hard bit , i takes serious courage to play this game ,
the fields are about 150-175 metres long and there are 18 players on the field for each team with 4 on the bench
Might want to look for rules next, it's a thrilling game.
Geelong v Melbourne is the oldest rivalry in football of any code.
@roosters bays Geelong played Melbourne at Argyle Square in 1860. (According to Google and Wikipedia)
1870 is still pretty remarkable, though.
March 19th 2023 the next season starts fellas
Go Fremantle!
@Steve Reynolds
Cheers Steve, we will be back with more soon, we are getting ready for the new season.
For skills try Eddie betts or dusty martin highlights
Nah mate, no such thing as sending anyone off the field. No mid game suspensions, red cards or sin bin. If you're injured badly, you have people on the interchange bench to help, but even that puts pressure on all players.
@maqeurious
Cheers and thanks for the information.
We are slowly getting it.
They have a mouthguard
No padding or helmets for our boys 😊
Bear in mind this the oldest codified football code in 1858
No send off blokes only free kicks , you can see in the old footage you can see the umpires signalling play on after the hits. as a Victorian kid in the 60's footy was life you get used to it. Cheers.
Hawthorn legend Dermott Brereton once told a reporter....
“ Hawthorn don’t pay me to be nice to the opposition. “
You don't get sent off in this game you just get a penalty against you. So do Australians look weak now 🤣. From Australia 🇦🇺.
There is NO SUCH thing as a Send Off Rule in Aussie Rules.
The AFL these days discourage "bumps" where the player goes for the man and not the ball. There is no send off rule, but players can get suspended from future matches where an umpire reports a player for a bump, depending on the severity and if the other player gets injured. Incidents get referred to the tribunal to determine the outcome.
GDAY FELLAS..REACT TO….BUDDY FRANKLINS 1000 th GOAL….AND BE AMAZED BY THE FOOTY FANS REACTIONS.
@David Hill
Thanks for the info David, we will try and get to that one soon.
Cheers
Oh yes, that’s epic
look up Plugger's greatest highlight's
Welcome to AFL the greatest sport on the planet
It’s the greatest game of all
No send off in AFL mate
@17.23 NON SENCE , when your team is in the lead "your glued" to the tv , look at What is AFL? VID THAT explains the basic rules for Americans. BTW , I'M an Aussie. thx
No off side rule , the team i follow was formed 1864 , find any Soccor clubs , FA cup 1871 , not as old as my club
No send offs,but can be suspended
You two have no clue 😂
The trick to not getting injured is to attack the ball at 100%. If your opponent is only going at 80% they are the one's that will get hurt. It's an oval pitch because they are also cricket grounds in the summer. You can't get sent off, but you can get reported and miss a few weeks instead. Soccer is not popular here, this the most watched sport in Australia and 4th in avergae attendance in the world.
What do u mean no protection,they got mouth guards, what more do u need😅😅😅best football game on the planet by a country mile😁
😂
Defenders are allowed to protect their team mate/the ball from the opposing team by taking their opponents out within fair play - they don't have to go for the ball
Try watching best marks or AFL explained
It would be no surprise to learn that many Aussie rules players in later life suffer from a chronic concussion syndrome that leads to a type of brain damage … there is a lot to be said for helmets. The long term brain injury is a known risk but still no helmets. Not something we should be proud of
Go here for a much better video- A new video guys- th-cam.com/video/u_SqfNNfhmM/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=AFL
They then set about writting some rules. lol
If you want to get a fair idea of what the game is about, look up .. AFL explained.
this a explain a little better th-cam.com/video/u_SqfNNfhmM/w-d-xo.html AFL they had a few bad ones but that most of them are actually been okay bumps. The season started on the weekend here which was Thursday here.
See, I'll never understand sport. I just don't get it. If you muted this and played the Benny Hill theme over the top, now THAT I could get.
I'm not into sport, so it's nothing against AFL. I'd say the same about any sport really (cricket being my absolute least favourite of all, which as hubby and F-I-L were groundsmen for Glamorgan cricket club and worked on one of The Ashes Test matches, doesn't make me popular with the men in my family 🤣🤣🤣)
Watching you pair is like watching my hubby and his mates together, with me rolling my eyes in the background 🤣🤣🤣
Joe Mangel?? Flaming hell, talk about a blast from the past!
AFL/rugby and American football all can have big hits but is the impressive throwing and catching skills that American football has that AFL/rugby doesnt have. And I won't even get not those silly-looking shorts afl player wear. At least American football looks cool.
Lol you clearly have not seen any of the marks taken in the AFL, look em up.
they play on a cricket pitch thats why its oval
Watch ozzyman afl v soccer
Matthews was a good player but a thug
Makes sense, we all know that the SANFL is still the highest level of any football played anywhere in the world.
I even bet that some nobody born in Adelaide probably invented the game , but the Vics stole it from him.
@@roostersbays95 HaHaHa....... where is the hate recorded ?
Your the one with a chip on each shoulder.
A common human condition amongst those from Sth Australia.
I will give SA it’s due, though.
You somehow seem to find better managers and officials than the pimples mostly found in Vic, NSW and Qld.
Unfortunately, these pimples do dominate at the national level.
I do have a question though.
WHY did SA let Bradman rule over SA cricket and then Australian cricket..... he was the biggest boil on Australian sport ever.
A typical NSW elitist who had no place in SA sport at all, other than being paid a fortune to play out his career there.
You blokes are English and an oval pitch confuses you.Are you aware of the game of cricket?
Always the same..... Children reacting to violence. Sad.
Always the same..... IDIOTS MAKING STUPID COMMENTS. SAD.
Violence ? It’s part of the game 😂
Oversley you are a foreigner of Australian Rules football. It's part of the game. 😂🤣😅🤦♂️🥔
A celebrated and rewarded in instances part of the game to be that
There's a national professional women's league too!
@micko11154
Hi Micko and thanks for the comment, we did do a reaction to the Women's game too.
