The team they selected was top tier. I’ve heard nothing but good things about Slater as coach. The way he talks about his side and the game is inspiring. He’s gonna become an Origin coaching great.
Billy's done a great job with this side, backing the youth will go a long way for the future. He will for sure take the reins of Melbourne when Bellamy finishes.

"I've never coached before", and see how he speaks, how he handled himself at the highest level, esp in sports, rugby league at its pinnacle, SOO! He is simple, authentic, takes every moment, small moments to big moments! Wow, Billy..as if you are playing! Looking fwd to many more moments, with Billy at the helm, a coach!💪🏿. Am a blue supporter, but Billy's personality, simpleness, authenticity is a real "show" at this high level, publicity and enjoyment👌🏾
Brilliant rotations from Billy tonight. Big Papa going all out 15 then bringing Carrigan on. Then the double subs of Grant and Lindsay at the 20th min. Not often you see 3 subs used at the 20th min. Carrigan with Cotter owned our entire pack. Fair play to them.
Unbelievable really for a bloke who ain't never coached at that level
It's a mental battle more than anything, pretty well everyone is at the same physical level, it's between the ears where the game is won or lost
Billy is a happy kid ATM especially as a rookie coach
Far out Slater just looks at home in that presser. He is so proud of the squad and you can tell they have all really bought in to his philosophy and ideas. Long way to go but there is some great signs for QLD footy.

Munster is a game changer.. his 1v1 ball steals in his own 20 and own half when his team are under the pump at vital times the ballsyness and skill to execute..
he's a special player and key to melbournes success with papenhuizen and it shows in the big plays..
Valentine Holmes was exceptional aswell.. thought wighton had a great game too.. one of if not NSW best player

Based on his first outing as coach he handled this press conference like a seasoned and level headed Coach would.
It was great to hear him say it is not for him to Talk about the opposition team in coaching terms, now there is no way anyone can even hint at him having a dig or snipe at the Blue's or their Coach.
