It’s implied a number of times that the Doctor does not always have their mask on. Otherwise all of the likes of characters commenting on their facial expressions wouldn’t make any sense. We never really get to see this because of Lowlight’s commitment to letting the player imagine what the Doctor looks like.

Her race (Spoiler) Are Elves, and they are more compatible with the race of the Doctor, and the reason Muelsye felt so alone is because not only is she a member of an endangered species. The race her people are most compatible with are nearly extinct. Since as far as we know, the Doctor is the last of his people. So Muelsye is that desperate to have the doctor with her. Since she is literally born to be his wife

Elves are probably related to Durin, since the Durin are dwarves/hobbits (or that’s my theory, at least). It’s actually interesting, because they’re not explicitly related to the Teekaz grouping (Sarkaz, Sankta and Anasa), who are the natives to Terra, and they lack the animal features that the Ancient and Elder races do.
Her character wasn’t ruined, it was expanded. Lone Trail is pretty much an explanation for why everyone at Rhine Lab did what they did in the story, and realistically humanizes them. People who assumed that Muelsyse was just like other Rhine Lab directors didn’t have the context of later material about them, and just assumed that her plotting was in line with what was known at the time. Now we know the full picture is a lot more complicated, and that she was not a bad person, merely someone who was desperate to get an edge over other schemers. It makes sense that the story that reveals her plans fucked up (Dorothy’s Vision) would also kickstart her character development.
