When I was a kid in Rodeo back in the 50's and 60"s Alvin lived across the street from me. He still lived at home. I was always amazed at the beautiful bikes when his friends would visit. My Dad did some welding for Alvin. They were both great mechanics and just had the knack for everything mechanical. He was a kind and gentle fellow with tons of self-confidence.
Great video, I am also legally blind due to loss of peripheral vision in both my eyes. ( Less than 20 percent peripheral vision ), lost my job because of it, had to take a disability retirement, and can't ride my motorcycle. But I support 81, and attend all the parties, nothing is going to stop me! I'm looking forward to, and already have my ticket for Oakland's St. Patrick's Day party March 16th! I'll see you all there. Sincerely, Irish Paulie 510.....
I was a friend of Alvin's. I stayed at his house and helped take care of him and his kids sometimes. My brother, Badger, was also a close friend of Alvin. Alvin loved listening to Hank Williams. He was such a great guy and an inspiration. RIP Alvin, RIP Badger btw, that's my brother's photo above.
I remember Alvin every time i feel challenged as too myself have the same problem, glaucoma sucks ass, yep bike is gone, cars too, i drive offroad for fun but it dangerous wife gets scared for me lol, i am legal blind at 65 now, i had plans but hey things change and you deal with it , M L & R all
you reckon???maybe it was the racer in him not the outlaw, seen guys here who had their brothers,Dads, best friends killed right in front of them and continue racing, seen guys loose limbs and continue doing what they love, guys in wheelchairs etc...it aint got nothing to do with been an angel...its got to with what you know and love...bikes...you think if he left the angels in good standing and was no longer a HA he would sit on his ass...fuck no.
