One thing I learned recently from doing a New Game+ playthrough of Prime 1 is that if you got all the scans from your last run then you never have to do it again
Metroid Prime was the first and only FPS I fell in love with. (And I had never even heard of Metroid before I played SSB Melee which came out only a year before this.) Cool weapons, beautiful sceneries, just the right amount of scary stuff...
My favorite series of all time. I think I prefer Metroid Prime 2: Echoes slightly more than the original, but they are both masterpieces. I enjoy Corruption, but it has a few missteps in my opinion. I'm hoping Metroid Prime 4 is similar to the first two games. I, and many others, have been waiting for so long; 13 years as it stands now. Here's to hoping we see something soon this year. Even if it's just a trailer with a release date. That all being said, if you're a newcomer to the Prime Trilogy, I completely recommend it. If you're a completionist and want to go for 100% in each game, you're looking at nearly 60-80 hours of content between all three games. For the speedrunners out there who can get 100% quickly, like myself, what's your fastest time for each game (glitchless)? My times are as follows: Metroid Prime 100% Completion Run in 4 hours and 27 minutes. This run was accomplished back in 2017. Metroid Prime 2: Echoes 100% Completion Run in 6 hours and 10 minutes. This run was accomplished back in 2016. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption 100% Completion Run in 8 hours and 45 minutes. This run was accomplished back in 2016. I used to play through the trilogy every year, but I haven't actually played since 2017 because at the end of 2017 during Christmas, I got a PS4 for the first time and I had SO MANY new games to play. My PS4 is mainly all I play now. I do play my Switch once in a while, but not as often. I'm waiting to play the trilogy again once it is released on Switch 'cause we all know it's coming. It's not a matter of if, but when. My PS4 gaming library has exceeded 60 games at the time of this comment and over this past week I got into Bloodborne and it's consumed my life a bit, haha. I still have a good 10 or so games in my backlog to play at some point, plus a massive list of games that I want to buy and play through too. So many games, so little time!
I love the trend of video creators being like "I was livestreaming and some speedrunners came in and showed me some tricks" :P If it does come out on the Switch... and there is a Prime 4... someday AFTER that there will be the tetralogy collection thing :P
I never really found the scanning that bad. Aside from the bosses, there are only a couple missable scans. And I loved how much you would learn about the creatures, baddies, and environment from scanning everything. Also, the Chozo lore was pretty heckin' sad.
I've been saying that for years and everyone tells me "nuh uh its doom" and I'm like this game is so close to Prime it should just be called Doomtroid Prime
@@traceyrinaldi4759 I feel what you're saying, but they're COMPLETELY different vibes. Prime makes you feel alone in a strange place, exploring for answers & way more puzzle enemies/platforming. Doom makes you feel like you're the monster in the strange place indiscriminately murdering everything. Both great games with good stories, but they couldn't be more on different wavelengths other than they're both FPS's.
@@ThatOneGuyDudeThingy I'm more referring to the mechanical feel and commitment to atmosphere that both games share. They're totally different games but you can totally feel the Metroid Prime DNA in the game as ID, Retro, and even Iguana Entertainment back in the day share alot of employees and are all relatively close by.
That would be true if there was less of an episodic, mission-based aspect to the Doom games. As much as I love them, there's no denying that they're glorified 'get from point A to point B while slaughtering monsters in the most gruesome ways possible.' Fun, but in no way even close to being like Prime. The one thing that separates the two is the one thing that the Prime games brought from Super Metroid-- inter-connectivity. There are multiple ways the various areas connect to each other, which gives them a sense of exploration unique to Metroidvania games. Doom doesn't have that; each level is a mission that's quite frankly a glorified maze. 'Oh, but what about the collectibles?' you say. What about them? Outside of guns, none of the collectibles DO anything for the player in Doom. They're fun, don't get me wrong, and with Eternal, they do build Doomguy up a bit in terms of progression, as well as story. However, from powering her up to getting more intel on the world she inhabits, the collectibles in Prime have more of an impact on Samus' journey than the ones Doomguy gets. I will admit that there is a certain amount of influence that Prime had on the new Doom games. But that is solely because of how much classic Doom influenced FPS games in general. It is that that makes them so similar. Again, both are fun games, but neither are similar outside a cursory examination.

I used to make it a goal to finish prime and echoes both over summer break. This video made me realize it might be time to do it again
I'm a simple man. I see Metroid content, I watch.
This was my first completionist video from way back in the day, came from MatPats vid so its great to see you brought him back for the NG+ episode
I literally JUST downloaded the metroid prime randomizer a few days ago!! Honestly I encountered your channel because you were one of the choice few people years ago that actually talked about metroid, and I liked your style. Here’s to the future!!
Great way to collab during these times. Ive seen a lot of ppl doing video chats but I havnt seen may people record completely separate and just cut it together, aside from sketch groups like smosh or the valleyfolk
Time to re recomplete it!
Fun episode! MatPat as a guest is always enjoyable.
Anyone here after the reveal and release of the remaster?
Never did pick up that Trilogy package, bought all of them separately before that one was released. Great explanation on the differences.
Still waiting for the prime trilogy on the switch...
Same. Been waiting since the rumours of the Nintendo NX
I just want a reason to play this thing (The Switch.) Now there is a chance Rune Factory 5 might be on PC, all Nintendo has left is Prime and they are taking years to just re-release something they made for the Wii.
@@haruhirogrimgar6047 If your referring to Metroid Prime it's was originally released on the GameCube and rereleased on the Wii as part of Metroid Prime Trilogy
@@shadowzedge5793 I know. But people are talking about the trilogy re-release. I played Prime 1&2 on the gamecube. Never got to play 3 or with the Wii remotes.
@@haruhirogrimgar6047 I've played all 3 in their original formats but never played Trilogy with the new controls. 😊
The Wild Arms battle music at the end just gave me so much nostalgia
The way the thumbnail artist drew Mattpatt is hillarious
This is such a good episode xD
Jirard + MatPat is a great combo :3
All these years later, and Prime STILL looks great. I can only imagine what Prime 4 will look like.
LucasFace Plays according to retro it’s going to be “photorealistic “
Metroid prime trilogy was extremely rare. Atleast, i recall it being a very limited release. My Wii is in storage. I should take it out sometime...
I’ve been waiting for this episode for almost as long as I’ve been waiting for a remake/port for the switch
Mat Pat is the awkward friend you can’t help but love!
I remember playing Metroid prime when I was a kid it's was a lot of fun
Yessssssss!!! Been waiting literal years for this episode...
The TH-cam algorithm must be acting weird, I’m just now seeing this video two days later (and only because of the post made about it) even though I’m subscribed, watch every week, and have the bell turned on to give me all notifications.
I always think of your old review of this game randomly. It's nice to see a brand new take on this from you & the same guest as before!
r.i.p. prime 3. It was kinda funny but still I was not expecting the critique of prime 3 in a prime 1 video
Jirard: My original episode of Metroid Prime was special to me, as it marked one of the first times I had a guest here on the show, and that guest was MatPat from Game Theory.
MatPat: Yes!
Jirard: MatPat, are you there? Matt? MatPat?
MatPat: And I'm ready to do it all over again, buddy.
Jirard: Oh okay, I guess we can still do collaborations.
It's nice to see them both doing another video about Metroid Prime again... this just brings me back! 😊😄👍
What was with that weird flex MatPat said saying that basically if it wasn’t for him collabing with Gerard, he wouldn’t have the numbers and popularity he has now? Like, that came off as really awkward, even if it’s true.
Starting to feel like I'm the only Metroid fan who actually likes NPCs...
I get it, I get it, isolation and all that. But idk, sometimes it's nice to see more of the world this series takes place in and its people. also I like Samus as a character and would like her to be even a little happy despite the fact that doing so would probably ruin the idea of the series
I guess that makes me pretty weird though because outside of the small fandoms Prime 3 and Hunters have no one else in the community seems to appreciate the other hunters at all
MatPat over here saying how 7 years flies by quickly, but I'm here thinking about how A) this game came out 2 years before I was born and B) it's now been 19 years
This video couldn’t have had better timing, just got a GameCube and the original prime disk. Can’t wait to play through it again.
Therapist: Matroid Fusion isn't real; he can't hurt you.

Ahhhhh my two favorite game TH-camrs
Came here after completing Metroid Dread, just to reconfirm myself how much better and more content the Metroid Prime games have.
*"The Vast Majority Of The Prime Completion Pie Comes Down To Whipping Out That Scan Visor And Going To Work."*
I don't know why, but that just made me laugh lol! 😂😂😂
MatPat should've grown a beard for this.
One of my favorite games of all time, nice to see you play it again..
But MatPat you are loved by everyone and welcome everywhere 1:42
I LOVED these games. I was a 90s kid and thought the same as Gerard That super metroid could NOT be bested. However I think metroid prime 1 is my fav metroid came EVER. The atmosphere, the music, EVERYTHING! So good guys
It's amazing to me that this game being almost 20 years old or at least the first Prime being 20 years old still holds up so incredibly well it looks amazing the art style still looks great thanks for doing this game guys I really appreciate it
"Lonely theory cave"
... Heist w/ Markiplier PTSD.
One thing I learned recently from doing a New Game+ playthrough of Prime 1 is that if you got all the scans from your last run then you never have to do it again
*"The Metroid Prime Series Has Never Really Been A Stranger To Change."*
You can say that again! 😄👍
My times are as follows:
Metroid Prime 100% Completion Run in 4 hours and 27 minutes.
I love the trend of video creators being like "I was livestreaming and some speedrunners came in and showed me some tricks" :P
If it does come out on the Switch... and there is a Prime 4... someday AFTER that there will be the tetralogy collection thing :P
I'm surprised we got a new game plus episode this weekend, but it is awesome none the less. Always great to see a new episode.
53+, man congratulations to be so constant with that fight keep going man, i know it has been tough times to everyone.
(Laughs in Metroid Prime Remastered)
I never really found the scanning that bad. Aside from the bosses, there are only a couple missable scans. And I loved how much you would learn about the creatures, baddies, and environment from scanning everything. Also, the Chozo lore was pretty heckin' sad.
The worst part of the trilogy is that they took away the amazing original menus. If they port it, I hope they come back.
Same, I wish you would select the game then it would load the OG menu to select the options and such for it.
Yesss!!
Then Doom 2016 & Eternal became Metroid Prime on crack. 😂
I've been saying that for years and everyone tells me "nuh uh its doom" and I'm like this game is so close to Prime it should just be called Doomtroid Prime
And then Halo was the outsider
I love it when gerard and Mattpath team up
Metroid Prime Trilogy HD for Switch! PLEASE!!
*"Glad You Got All That Off Your Chest, But Now It's Seven Years Later... Seven Years, Wow, So Old. Time Is So Fleeting. Death, Death Be Not Proud. Death Lurks Over Our Very Shoulders... And There's A New Way To Play Prime!"*
Oh my god lol, this had me dead lol! 😂😂😂
I loved the original video you guys made on this it was truly one of my favorites but this is just as good if not better I love seeing both of my favorite youtubers coming together once again to make some amazing content
